There is a limit to how much emotions Shino can contain before he reaches a breaking point, like a threshold, and it can often be seen from the behaviors of his bugs.

With happiness, he'll allow his insects out quite fast and will happily have them all over the place and on his friends from how eagerly happy he is. He will need to be told very firmly if it's a bother because he really doesn't see it as an unwanted thing, he's too happy to see how uncomfortable that might make others feel.

With anger, they will slowly start swirling around him but won't attack. They will be an indicator of his mood change but if he gets extremely annoyed with a friend, his breaking point would be to grab said friend himself and berate them before withdrawing. He'll only use his insects for harm against an ennemy, in which case he'll always keep his calm and stay logical despite his anger.

With embarrassment, his insects will come out to hide his face and cloud him if it gets too much. He might act irritated, embarrassment will often bring out some frustrations.

With sadness, his insects stay in his body, they don't come out at all in front of others. Shino will instead isolate himself and enjoy their company away from everyone in an attempt of feeling better. He can get depressed enough to be unwilling to allow his insects out at all with people around.

Sometimes if an emotion gets too strong (in a context away from battle, considering how he always keeps himself in check during important moments), he can act out in bursts which comes out as clumsy and odd compared to his usual stoicism. After an outburst, Shino will usually withdraw to regain his cool.

idk what's weirder for iruka: konohamaru becoming a jounin sensei or shino becoming an academy teacher and both of them are his colleagues now instead of former students. one is a reformed prankster carbon copy of naruto and one spoke maybe four words to him during the entire time he knew the kid. imagine running into them in the staff room. i would need to leave immediately.

they also refuse to call him without honorifics or if this is a modern AU - mr umino/sir/sensei. iruka tries so hard to make them comfortable and feeling like they're his colleagues, to no avail. they got as far as 'iruka-sensei' and then promptly faltered.

all the little students look up to iruka as a superhero. their teacher's teacher. none of that silliness where they don't respect him - his disappointed face is lethal

Hey I just needed everyone to see this Sasuke from Five Below because I nearly passed out from laughing so hard the first time I saw this thing

The Amazon Ant nest which provided me with the coolest single creature I may ever find nearly 2 years ago is still there and active! I wondered if it would survive this past winter and a burn, and was glad to see both species out and about yesterday. Polyergus longicornis can no longer feed themselves, so they raid the nests of Formica dolosa ants and carry back "slave" workers to care for them. So if you find a nest, there will be two ant species in the same burrow. Usually you will just see the Formica out and about doing maintenence on the nest, but if disturbed the Polyergus and their large mandibles will come out ready to fight. Or if you're really lucky you'll catch them on a raid, which is quite a sight.

OR, if you're prepared to use your entire allowance of luck for your life, you'll catch a gynandromorph male/worker just emerged. 👀
