I'm not a fan of the Conan movies, but in M28 there's a cute scene where Ran puts her scarf bow-shaped on Conan. That scene is so popular now that it's even been merchized and is even out of stock.

That Shinichi's plans to talk to his father-in-law about his relationship with Ran and how much it matters to him to make a good impression to him shows how seriously he takes his relationship with Ran.

He is startled just thinking that if someone else tells Kogoro instead of himself, it could damage his image as a boyfriend in front of his father-in-law.

don’t know the exact translation but people said that ran thinks kogoro found out about her and shinichi are dating. shinichi is worried about it bc he wanted to tell them himself bc it would look bad on his behalf if he didn’t present himself in person as ran’s boyfriend. don’t if it’s correct but it’s very cute !
