Kind of sucks that i am not living in an ivy-covered cottage in the pacific northwest, drinking mint tea with honey,, riding my bike into town for the groceries and spending my day writing novels on a mossy tree stump with a cool breeze making the pine needles go sssssshhhhhh,,,,,,,

must a woman be “beautiful”? is it not enough that she shake her fist at God and commit acts of heresy in the name of hedonism and lunar madness

I'm setting up my alter for spring. This is the first time doing so, what do you suggest I place on it?
Ohh, this is so exciting!🐝 I think it’s important for me to note that you can do as much or as little to your altar as you please. There’s no set rules, just do what you enjoy! But I doooo love celebrating anything so here are my favorite altar tips and such.🌷🌱 Thank you for asking me.✨
Tumblr media
♡ Moss is one of my all time favorite altar decorations for the spring ~ it’s associated with patience, grounding, nurturing, renewal, and fertility. Irish + Scottish moss, gnome ivy, golden club, and twiggy spikemoss are lovely choices.
♡ Fresh flowers are a wonderful way to welcome in spring. You can go to your local plant nursery, florist, farmers market, or get a small bouquet from your local grocer. Daffodils, roses, baby’s breath, primroses, violets, and tulips are wonderful representations of Spring. You can also get tons of wonderful fake flowers from the dollar store or your local craft store!
♡ Candles! Bonfires have been a way to celebrate spring in many cultures for a long time, candles are a good way to embrace that for those of us who can’t have a fire. Take into consideration the candles colors + scents for you intention and such. I personally love lilac, birch, lavender, jasmine, honeysuckle, moss, bergamont, rose, willow, rosemary, basil, and primrose are my favorite scents for spring! I think white, pastel colors, and dark saturated greens and browns are the most lovely.
♡ Keeping dirt from your favorite place in a jar/dish/bowl, on your altar is a good way to feel stabilized and grounded while still being connected to nature and embracing spring. If you’re gathering from a local park look up your city laws and park rules. Some parks don’t permit gathering, especially National Parks and Nature Conservatories.
♡ Spring is focused on renewal and rebirth so keep a written list of your goals or plans for this next year on your altar. It’s a wonderful time to reaffirm who you want to be and what path you are on.
♡ Depending on what gardening zone you’re in this would be around the time to start sewing certain seeds indoor to transplant outside in a month or two. If you plan to garden little potted seedlings are super cute and most definitely are the embodiment of Spring. I have little lavender, basil, and tomato seedlings growing on my altar right now! Bonus if they’re good for bees and pollinating.
♡ Crystals ~ this is mostly up to you and what are you intention is for Spring. I have a set few that I use every year regardless of my goals and they are; (lavender)rose quartz, selenite, malachite, amethyst, yellow calcite, clear quartz, moss agate, moonstone, lepidolite, tree agate, rhodonite, and rhodochrosite.
♡ I’m a bitch for bones to be honest so every spring I have two deer mandibles on my altar but this year I’ll be including a coyote skull, muskrat skull, and Springbok horns. I choose the bones mostly based on the gods I’m honoring. Coyote is for the All Father, muskrat for Frigg, Springbok for Sif + Þórr.
♡ If you’re into divination I always keep tarot/oracle cards and runes my altar(despite the holiday/reason). For this Spring I included The Wheel, The High Priestess, The Page of Pentacles(this is in association to a year long devotional pact Frigg and I are starting on Sigrblót), and the runes Ansuz, Fehu, Algiz, Berkano, and Gebo.
♡  I hope this is helpful to you and happy Spring! ♡

a lil spell to make a home cozier
Tumblr media
here is a little ritual you can do to bring warmth, joy and harmony to a home to make it feel cozier and more welcoming. best done during a new moon, but you can do it any time. you will need:
☾ a small bowl of ceramic, wood or glass
☾ a clove of garlic (bringing warmth + togetherness to a home)
☾ a sprinkle of lavender flowers (tranquility and calm)
☾ a sprig of pine (home blessing, cleansing, grounding)
☾ a brown candle (home and hearth magick)
sit in the main area of your home. light your brown candle; sit comfortably on the floor or couch and meditate on the candle for a while. warm your hands with its flame.
set the offering bowl in front of the candle. take the garlic clove in your hands and visualize the way you want your home to feel: warm, lived-in and welcoming. warm the clove over the candleflame briefly and set it in the bowl.
take your lavender flowers in your hands. close your eyes, take a deep breath and inhale the scent of them. let it calm you, as it will calm the energy of your home. place the flowers atop the garlic.
lastly, take the sprig of pine. use it like a wand; point it toward all four corners of the room you’re in. place it against your heart, and set it in the bowl.
whisper to the bowl: “may your magick bless this home with kindness and warmth.” blow out the candle; place the bowl on a windowsill, mantle, or coffee table for three nights. on the third night, sprinkle its contents outside your front door.
