Pink Diamond A-ha moment

I’m not sure if this has been said already but, I was thinking back to the episode “Sworn to the Sword” and one scene that I never really looked into—until Rose was confirmed Pink Diamond—was when Garnet explained Pearl’s immense dedication to Rose Quartz

“She put Rose Quartz over everything” and then I remembered the other Rose Quartz soldiers back at Pink Diamond’s zoo in “That Will be All”, and how they were different shapes in comparison to Rose/PD

I realized that while Pearl was very dedicated to Rose/Pink Diamond, it was more than just out of love. She risked her life to ensure her alter-ego would remain a secret. If Rose was poofed during the rebellion, her true gem shape and identity would be revealed. Crystal gems would realize their leader was the same person they weren’t trying to defeat, which could trigger many different events and consequences for both Crystal Gems and Homeworld Gems

I knew that I wasn’t straight, but I didn’t know if I was gay, I didn’t know if I was bisexual - I didn’t feel comfortable having that conversation with myself. I was 20 when I came out the first time. It got to a point where I had fallen in love with a friend, and one of my other best friends had sort of noticed. And there were rumors going around in the dance world back home. It was breaking my heart. I was going crazy and I didn’t know what to do. I was lying and lying and lying, and doing everything I could to hold on to my secret. Because I hadn’t figured it out yet, and so it felt like everyone else was deciding it for me and they knew better than I did. It was really scary.
