Continuance Is Strength

Hyogo Academy of Magic, Witchcraft, and Sorcery

Welcome to the Hyogo Academy of Magic! Apologies for the delay on the owls for this term. The last few months of what would have been your first term were, as you well-know, filled with politcal turmoil.

But despite the clash of the new Prime Minister with the old Cabinet of Onmyō, the school year must go on.

A few quick details about how that will go, before getting into the details of the current schoolyear. The three current classes will graduate a semester later than orignally planned. However, so as not to completely throw off the school system, we will be allowing the next wave of first years to start in the spring either way. Despite the awkwardly staggered curriculum, I have no doubt in all of you and your ability to succeed.

Now that that’s sorted! As always, enclosed in your envelope, you will find a list of materials which you will need for the schoolyear ahead of you. Shops will reopen in the Hyogo Onmyō District on the first of August, so you may purchase anything that you need starting then. Please be sure to have all that you need before the first of September.

The curriculum has been undergoing a major overhaul over the past five years, since Headmaster Ukai Ikkei took over the school and half-wizards and muggleborns were allowed to attend the school. This year, with the semester break that the Cabinet (unintentionally) gave us, we have finally been able to reform the curriculum to its final form. Of course, that allows for room to grow, as history is happening and new magical advances are being made.

We have an assortment of extracurriculars and elective courses for you to choose from, though many are only available to our second and third years. Nonetheless, we encourage incoming first years to find a club which they are eligible for and to join it and make friends among all four houses. Maintaining a good social life is a priority here at the Hyogo Academy; we know that a boarding school can be intimidating, so we want to provide you with as many opportunities as possible.

Application and Acceptance Deadlines

June 30: Early Application Deadline

July 31: Standard Application Deadline

August 15: Late Application Deadline

Early applicants will get the first priority on class assignment, extracurricular positions, etc. Standard applicants will get normal priority. Late applicants may be limited to whatever is left, depending on the class size of this particular schoolyear. However, there will always be a place here for you, if you are willing to find it.
