bakugou has 0 redeeming qualities. like, even his reason for wanting to be a hero is trash, he just wants it because he's a fucking megalomaniac
Alright, Gucci.
There is something I’ve wanted to say for a while now but I was afraid of the discourse. But ya know what? Fuck it
If midoriya => All Might
then bakugou=> endeavor
Here’s why
Midoryia wants to be a hero to inspire others and make them feel safe.
Bakugou just wants to be acknowledged for his brute physical power
Sound familiar?
Midoryia is (supposed to be) learning from all mights mistakes, learning that he can’t rely solely on himself, he can ask for help where he needs it and that doesn’t make him any lesser or weaker for it. He inspires his friends to do better and push themselves for the benefit of others.
Bakugou does none of this, he picks fights on the basis of his pride, uses his ego as his social navigator, believes that if he can’t do it (the big parts) himself then there is no glory to be had. If his opponent is not pushed to their limit and beaten into the ground then it’s not a true victory
Hmmmmmmmmm??? Are you ready to send me threats yet??
I’m not saying bakugou is entirely irredeemable, I’m saying that the path he is on NOW is just endvore 2: electric boogaloo
What needs to happen to bakugou for him to develop and change is for him to NOT be coddled, and instead shown the hard facts by someone he respects *cough*All Might*cough* that the path he is taking and his reasons for taking it are not the right ones.
He needs to be shown that his using others as stepping stones is not the way he should be going about this. That while now it’s not as serious because he’s in school, if it’s not curbed by the time he’s an adult that it could the difference between life and death for him.
With his personality in mind it seems the only reason he wants to be a certified hero instead of a villain is because heros get respected.
While being a villain would satisfy his violent tendencies, it would not stroke his ego, and to me that seems to be his only driving force towards heroism.
Being a hero should be seen as a civil service, it should be driven by the want to better society, but instead it’s become a specticle, a spectator sport.
And that specticle is what bakugou wants, he wants to be lauded by the masses for his strength and feared by his enemies.
Some people say that the narrative is softening him up, and I can see where they would get that, but in my opinion it is not happening effectively enough.
While he has started seeing his classmates as individuals (the bar is subterranean, wow) he still sees them as lesser he does not respect them as equals, if anything he sees them as a means to an end.
(Hmm, wasn’t there another character that did that? Ya know, used and abused those close to him to satisfy an egotistical goal? Disregarded them as individuals and saw them as, uhh, tools, one might say, to achevie some self stroking form of glory???)
The stable guys are getting more and more done with my shit and I’m getting more and more done with theirs too. What kind of weak operation are they running here where they won’t stable my horse just because it’s a god or because it doesn’t have ~skin~
“ive connected the dots” “you didnt connect shit” “ive connected them” is by far the best thing to have come out of buzzfeed unsolved it is so incredibly funny. the poses. the confidence. i can feel the tone. its incredible.
i had the funniest fucking dream i was hanging out with michael jackson and someone asked him what his pronouns were and he said “he/hee!” and i woke up crying
