I dunno if this even makes sense, I haven’t like, tried this with an actual piece of rope, but this was what I pictured, anyway.  (I STILL can’t make sense of why the ropes would fork and split into two pieces before reaching the groin, Imma just assume that too much struggling on Javert’s part would lead to extra chafing…??)

For 1.3.4, "Tholomyès is so Merry That He Sings a Spanish Ditty," (Hapgood's word choices continue to be A Thing. "Ditty?" Really?) Arai interpreted it from roughly pages 269–279 of the English translation. I already referenced in another post how Arai was clearly working from photo references (very possibly even tracing them) for some of the longer views of Saint-Cloud.

13. What's a character or ship you haven't written/drawn yet but would like to some day?

I would LOVE to do something featuring Mademoiselle M/Magnon.  I also still need to write the Théodule/Feuilly fic I promised back when I published the Bahorel/Enjolras fic, not because I feel drawn to them but because I think it could be really funny.  (But I'd also like to write more for them individually, as well as Joly, Laigle, and Bahorel.) Similarly, they get referred to in World Without Heroes, but something that features Empress Josephine/Cosette, more with the Guys and Grisettes (I think I have written all of the grisettes now, though I don't think I've published anything that has Zéphine, just refers to her offscreen), maybe something with Gillenormand's parlour, more with Gardener Fauchelevent, maybe Simplice, and the Napoléon/Bishop Myriel backstory nobody wants but everybody needs.

14. Is there a character or ship you were so sure you would never write/draw but now you've changed your mind?

Not really?  I will say, there are now circumstances where I think Valvert could work, which I wouldn't have thought several years ago, but I still don't ship it, nor do I feel motivated to create content for it.

On the other hand, inventing batshit pairings that no one in their right mind would dream of and creating content for that: hell yes, been there AND done that.

5. Out of all your fanworks that include Cosette, which is your favourite?

Even though it's one of the first things I wrote and I've grown out of a lot of the characterizations and am a much stronger writer now than I was, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for my Web Series AU.

15. Have you noticed your style change over time?

Oh, DEFINITELY.  As I alluded to in a previous ask, I entered the LM fandom from the fanon end, and it was the only way I'd ever experienced the sort of "genre" that is fanfic, so I started a lot more with fics that explored that style and those tropes, rather than the themes and characters from the story itself.  Once I started doing more outside research and forming my own opinions and understanding of the characters and the events of the book and their themes and meaning, I think you can see my work diverging away from classic fanfic tropes and toward an even split of "explorations of the themes/messages on my own terms" and " ha ha wouldn't it be funny if."

Someone else asked this same thing for this same character, so rather than choose, I'll just post different ones.  <3 This one by @pilferingapples is WONDERFUL, I adore it.

20. When did you first join Tumblr? How long was it between that and finding the Les Mis fandom?

I first joined in 2010 or so?  But like, I enjoyed AtLA a normal amount and watched Sherlock with my dad, and when I checked out those tags (Zutara vs Kataang flame wars and SuperWhoLock culture respectively), I was like, "Hmmm.  Let's not."  So I followed, like, HumansOfNewYork and fitblrs and social justice blogs until 2018 when ... inktaire, I think it was?  Kept posting about all of these characters in a musical I had been in the pit for but didn't recognize At All, and by the time I decided I was in the market for a hyperfixation, they had posted a link for WAR, and that was it.

23. Has your favourite character/ship changed over time?

Oh, for sure.  Entering the Les Mis fandom from the fanon end of things after only ever having been exposed to the musical definitely gave me a different understanding of the characters and their relationships than I have now that I've read the book/researched the era and figures/know more about the historical context/have seen a bunch more adaptations.  LM was also my first real experience with fanfic in general, so once the novelty of those tropes and styles wore off, I started actually exploring the story and characters more earnestly, rather than using the fandom to channel my interest in this new and unfamiliar genre, which meant that who and what I was interested in changed as well.
