People talk abt the erasure of high support needs autistic people among autism communities on here and that's extremely important but also it honestly feels like people have straight up forgotten that autistic people have Needs. Like needs of literally any kind. I have literally watched people pooh-pooh the idea that autism is a disability (calling it a "metaphorical disability" as opposed to physical disabilities which are "real"), have seen countless memes where the punchline is "autistic person has a common symptom or trait of autism", and you just see a bunch of people talk about how they're super autistic but conveniently are never seen as weird or unlikable and never have meltdowns or lash out and have zero trouble understanding sarcasm or jokes or social cues and hit all their life milestones at appropriate times and aren't lame loser virgins like the rest of you shut-ins. Like it is just extremely common to mock and harass autistic people for displaying very typical autistic traits. There's a point where "dismantling stereotypes" becomes "not actually recognizing the things that make autism autism" and we've really reached it it feels like. As always just a stunning lack of compassion for people who are disabled in ways that disable them and not disabled in ways that are cool to you

Like so many times when people are like "I've never met an autistic person who has [insert "stereotypical" trait] it's like. That's because they're not there! They're not in the spaces you can access because they can't access them! And denying their existence will make that worse!

quick olnf scan before bed suggests self-voicing is mostly untouched currently (ie; functions fine as far as "default" renpy stuff goes, but runs into issues when dealing with more "custom" aspects of olnf, like the new ui. for example very little on the character creator screen gets read out and what does get read out seems to not be what's meant to get read out?). will need to dig more into it to figure out exactly what does/doesn't seem right to me atm (ofc however input from somebody with a vision impairment [ie; not me] would be most useful in determining what should get attention). colour naming is nice, kinda wonder why this isn't on by default. good to have the font choices, and text scaling is also very welcome (will however want to double check how this stacks up against certain industry guidelines to see if perhaps allowing you to go even bigger could be helpful)

insecurities

ive been away from my tablet for too long but i think little comics like this really keep me from getting rusty as hell i think tamaracks insecurities creep up on her very slowly before crushing her in her teen years. theres a line in the step 2 prologue if you put braces and glasses on your mc. tamarack hates those but assures the mc that its nothing wrong with them, - its only tamarack who has something wrong with her. ametrine is very dependent on tamarack - so when the girl starts wavering, ametrine follows suit. she doesnt care about other people as long as tamarack is with her. but tamarack does. when ametrine notices the changes in her friend, she cant help feeling unsafe. the comfort of being the same as your friend is lost when change is inevitable.

isn't it so crazy that 51 is divisible by 17. because 51 is such an ugly number that based on vibes alone i would 100% think it's prime 😭😭 like who in the world would even WANT to divide that shit? 17 and 3 i fucking guess...... 🤷

one thing that bugs me about cove is that he never dates anyone besides the mc. if there is no mc with romantic feelings towards him, theres no one else for him.

cliff has dated only kyra and is content remaining single bc thats not his focus. cove stays single by choice. my guy goes "hmmmmm yeah i guess people are attractive but im not really about that"

personally it seems like a unnecessary detail for me? i think it just serves to show the specialness of the mc being the only one for him. which is sweet in its own right, but also, just kinda, horrifying

yeah, they know each other for the better half of their lives and mc is the best potential candidate for cove, but also, things change? the dev did say that he could fall in love with jamie if they met somewhere else. so........

i guess that ties in with another problem of the romantic/platonic feelings blurring in olba. the mc is like, the number one person for him at all times, romantic or platonic route. which is, again, sweet, but if there is no mc for him, theres........... no one.

anyways scrolling through the tamarack tag! just wanted to comment on something

i feel like when drawing her character, you should at least try to have some knowledge on how to draw fat people. there are times when people draw her with skinny arms, a defined jawline, an emphasized chest (??? extremely weird, please don't do this), thin legs.

if you know that you aren't that there's a chance that you're gonna draw her wrong, then pull up references! there are so many images of her character which are so easy to pull up.

I'm not gonna assume that everyone who accidentally draws her with skinny features are doing it with malice, but !!! it is so rare to have a plus sized love interest and if you truly loved her character enough to draw her, it shouldn't be that hard to try to do it right
