I remember you said you'd do ArtFight this year on Twitter and to remind you to make refs so here I am, it's 2 months away if you haven't changed your mind or anything!
Thank you for the reminder :P
I don't know for certain if I'll have the time to participate in ArtFight this year but I'm gonna try to make it happen. Like I said I've been meaning to join for years.
I have a rough sketch for one of the refs at least, hopefully I'll have time to work on it some more soon. (I plan to make four.)
Oh! So if Tide has an ex... what is their dating situation like currently?
Well "currently" Tide's dating situation is a bit of a mess.
He isn't very relationship-savvy, and his very fast rise to popularity as an idol means he's getting asked out constantly. He ends up saying yes to most of them without fully understanding that he has a much higher social status than he used to.
Essentially he's racking up a lot of exes. He doesn't seem too bothered by it though.
Well alright, for those of you out of the loop: TideLock is the ship name between my squid (Tide) and @salmonthaart's squid (Lock). It started out as a joke, but now it's been canonised into both of their backstories.
It's basically just Sam and I having fun with the concept of two completly opposite personalities in a doomed relationship. Lock being the broody, aloof type who masks his emotions to hide how sensitive and vulnerable he is, and Tide being the peppy Prince Charming who would happily treat Lock with kindess and respect despite his shortcomings.
In present day they are exes. They eventually ended things off after Tide realised they both had a bit of soul searching to do. They are still friends, albeit on strained terms.
Here's an old doodle of mine that probably best summarises the relationship:
I haven't really mentioned it here, but for those who aren't aware I've actually been working on a secret project for the last couple months inbetween squid doodles and commissions.
I won't spill what it is just yet but I can't wait to show you all!

Do the boys exercise/turf? How fit would you say they are?
They do participate in Turf War frequently! Tide mains Inkbrush while Crash mains Splatling Deco. With their weapons of choice in mind, I can imagine Crash having more upper body strength while Tide focuses more on lower body strength.
They also have a workout routine that's specific to their jobs as performers, mostly consisting of cardio to build stamina and such.
have you ever drawn out/visualized what suit-namis stage looks like when they perform?
Oh I wish LOL environment design is not my strong suit.
I would like to visualise what the entirety of their hub looks like, but that will require planning and research that I currently don’t have the time for.
I do have these old sketches of their studio, which is directly connected to their stage outside.
It's hard to describe their different vibes in more verbose terms, so I'm just going to say that I feel like Tide is the duo's cute factor and Crash is the cool factor. Like one's the resident cutie patootie, and the other is the whoaa
(that animatic just made me think about it lol)
You have it pretty spot on actually! My goal was to give Tide and Crash qualities that are very clear and distinct from one another. Tide being the cute one and Crash being the cool one was one of them!
I think they are both cute and cool, but as their mother I might be a little biased 6 '-w-)
It's a small thing, but I just wanted to say Tide being confirmed to be autistic basically made me go ':D!!! He just like me!!! He just like me fr!!!' (hopefully that isn't weird to say-)
Just wanted to bring up that that little detail sparked a whole lot of joy, so thank you for that!
It's not weird at all! He's also just like me fr :P
I'm glad my silly little squid man is resonating with people so much! Makes me feel very validated as someone who's also autistic.
I'm very happy you were comfortable enough to tell me this, so thank you to you too!!
