◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦
Nerves.
That's all Asuna could think about right now. Nerves.
Dana wasn't allowed to accompany her on the trip to where Levi and her were getting married. She was put in a carriage with Hange and another one who she believed was named Moblit. As well as one other soldier sitting next to her in the carriage who she hadn't seen before, though introduced herself as Hitch.
This was her first time leaving the castle since she arrived two weeks before, she honestly wasn't sure where they were going. She would have asked Hange, but every time she asks Hange something she tends to ramble on and eventually talk about something that was completely unrelated to her question. Asuna doesn't think she has the energy to deal with any of that right now, as much as she liked having her around.
On the ride there, she thought she had never seen any people gathered around in one place in her life. All of the civilians were dying to even get a glimpse of their new Queen. She managed to ask Hange if the wedding would take place outside for everyone in the Orvud district to see her getting married and crowned Queen. She had learned that that was the original plan, but due to the threats against her, the wedding would take place inside a huge ballroom within the city of Stohess. The reminder of the kidnapping threats had caused her to be more terrified than she already was, though with the amount of guards at her side every second and escorting her to the location made her feel more safe.
"Not sure if Levi told you yet!" Hange ends her conversations with Hitch to give Asuna news that she would hopefully enjoy. "Your father and friends from your village will be there for you!"
Asuna smiled and laughed to herself a bit. That made her terrifying day way more better. She was so excited to see her dad again which would most likely be the last time in a long while, but again, Levi didn't tell her.
"No," She answered after she smiled at the news. "He didn't tell me..."
"Oh! It must have slipped his mind then!" Hange says. "You may have noticed he's very occupied with other things right now."
"I guess."
Levi did say he was pretty panicked about the kidnapping threats, which she tried to understand. Due to that, he was more protective of her than he was before. Constantly having guards posted at their bedroom door and escorting her around the castle. Again, she didn't complain, it made her feel safer, as well as show her that Levi did care about her in his own way.
About 2 hours later, they had made it to the location within Stohess district. As they were heading closer to the ballroom area, she had heard all of the people outside the carriage screaming her name and Levi's, cheering her on and throwing flowers in her general direction. While others, not many, but a few that she noticed, looked at her displeased.
But why? They didn't even know her. The people who gave her dirty looks had no idea what kind of Queen she would be. She was prepared to be a good one, though. With help from Hange and Erwin, and hopefully Levi, she was destined to make good changes to the kingdom. Such as helping the poor, benefiting the economy, giving orphaned children a better life to live, and so many other things. She told Levi all of this the past few days, and he doesn't think he could have found anyone better to be his wife.
"We're here!" Hange yelled, making Asuna's stomach drop for what felt like the 400th time that morning. "Are you excited?"
"That's not the word I would use." She responds, preparing to get up and exit the carriage to face the crowd to walk into the building. Hitch helps to get her dress out of the way so she can step out without falling on her face.
"You look so beautiful!" Hitch said as she took her hand to help her out.
"She does! So elegant! I'm so happy for you, Asuna!" Hange adds.
"You'll be a great Queen..." Hitch smiles at her as she opens the carriage door, Asuna hearing the crowd of people cheering for her grow louder.
"Thanks, guys." The compliments warmed her heart so much, she was lucky to have such nice people around her to support her in her situation.
"Are you going to be alright?" Hange asks.
"Yeah," She responds. "I got this. I just... feel a bit dizzy."
"It might just be nerves," Hange responds back. "We can have you see the doctor when we get back tomorrow, though anyone would be nervous about this! I know I would be!" She laughs.
As she stepped out, Hitch helped her down as Hange held her dress' train from behind. She finally saw everyone cheering for her. What looked like hundreds of people being held back by military police guards as she walked into the building next to Hange. She couldn't help but wave at everyone, them saying things that she never would have ever thought people would say to her.
"Long Live Queen Asuna!!!"
"We love you!!!!"
"Yeah, Queen Asuna!!!"
"Long Live the Queen!!!" It just went on.
So many people, so many that already loved her despite not knowing who she was as a person, it made her feel special. Though she couldn't help but think about why she was receiving so much affection, perhaps the people in the kingdom were just so excited to finally have someone they can call Queen. Levi was a good king on his own, no doubt, but as Asuna figured out, he has his flaws.
Before they walk into the building in which she will become Levi's wife, she notices somebody within the crowd of people surrounding the entrance. He was wearing a black hood, hands in his pockets and as everyone cheered around him, he just stood there, eyeing her down with a look of calculation. With everyone else around her paying attention to her, she tried not to put her attention on the unknown man for too long. Before she looked away, she saw the hooded man smirk at her as he walked off and disappeared into the crowd. Her eyes widened as she couldn't get the look the man gave her out of her head, but she tried to brush it off, it probably isn't something to worry about. A lot of people she saw gave her glares and looked like that, but this man in particular, scared her.
◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦
Several higher ups and other officers, as well as close friends of Levi and Asuna, had gathered inside the building. Waving at her and bowing as she walked through the elegantly marbled hallway. She hasn't seen her father yet, nor anyone from her estate, but maybe they are in the actual ballroom where she'll be getting married. She felt the dizziness in her head get stronger with each step she took to wherever she was going, trying not to fall down.
Before entering the ballroom doors, she was stopped. Seems like the whole wedding didn't need any preparations as she was just told to just walk in and walk down the aisle to see Levi at the other end. Hange fixes her dress up a bit before smiling down at her.
"This is where I'll have to leave ya!" Hange says, still giving her that contagious smile of hers.
"Wait!" Asuna shouted at Hange before she walked off. "What am I supposed to do now?"
Immediately after she asks her what she needs to do, she hears an all too familiar voice walking towards her direction from behind.
"Hey, honey."
She turns around to see her father, smiling at her and dressed up in such a proper way that she never had seen him dress in before. All fancied up for his daughter's wedding.
"Dad!" She doesn't hesitate to run up to him in a strong embrace, her eyes a bit watery at seeing her sweet, dysfunctional dad again. Wrapping her arms around him, smiling, she seemed more confident at the fact her dad was going to be walking her down the aisle on her wedding day, something that she had dreamed of since she was little.
"Where is everyone else?! Harrison?! Cara?" She asks as she lets go of the hug.
"They are all here," Dan Reiss says to his daughter, smiling. "Harrison didn't come with us, though."
"What, why? Where is he?"
"He didn't want to come," He continued. "Didn't want to see the love of his life get married, I guess. I'm sorry, sweetheart."
She couldn't argue with that. She knew that Harrison was in love with her since they were kids, it just was a shame she didn't feel the same way. She was a bit upset though, at the fact that he didn't come to her wedding because of the soul fact that he didn't want to see her get married to someone else. She was going to try to not let it bother her, though, she has a lot of other things on her mind at this moment.
"I'm going to walk you down the aisle to your new husband," Her dad continues. "Is that alright with you?"
She nods, smiling. She wouldn't have wanted anyone else to walk her down the aisle than her dad, who may have been absent in his drunkenness for most of her life, but still, she knew he loved her more than anything in this world.
The countless amount of people that were cheering for her once she walked in the building was overwhelming. She could feel the sweat build up around her forehead as she tried to keep her composure, forcefully ignoring the pain she felt in her stomach that seemed to get worse and worse by the day. She holds onto her father's arm tightly as they walk to the ballroom, secretly hoping that this reception would be quicker than she imagined.
"Are you okay, darling?" Her dad asks. Seeing that the bag's under his daughter's eyes are darker than he's ever seen, the sweat on her forehead is visible, as she clings her left hand on her stomach while her other arm was wrapping tightly around his arm. Despite how uncomfortable she felt and looked, she was still stunning. Standing in front of the large front doors of the ballroom, waiting for them to open, she looks at her dad with widened eyes.
"I... I uh-"
Before she can answer, the large doors open. Asuna looks ahead to hear more cheering and church bells ringing at the sight of her. Taking a deep breath, she and her father walk in, towards a long hallway with people standing on the sidelines and cheering for her. On the other side of the ballroom, the sight of Levi dressed up, smiling softly at her clouded her mind. She smiles back at him, seeing that a priest was standing next to him to be in charge of them both exchanging their vows. The crowd suddenly went silent, as the church bells stopped and the sound of violins started flooding her ears. She gives one last smile to her father as they both get the nod to start walking across the large aisle. Getting sweet looks and smiles from the crowd who were there to witness the ceremony, most of them who were higher rank officials as well as lords and ladies around the kingdom. The sweet looks and smiles had warmed her heart, though she could not get that hooded man's expression that she saw when walking in the building out of her head.
◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦
She was wrong, the ceremony itself took so much longer than she expected. With a choir singing songs for what felt like hours, to some other priest praying about something to do with the walls and how they protect us from what's beyond them, which made Levi roll his eyes several times. Until finally, Asuna and Levi were able to say their vows.
Levi couldn't keep her eyes off her the entire time, she was absolutely stunning in the dress they put on her and how they did her hair. The way her pretty eyes were shining at him, and how her cheeks flushed when she looked back at him. It made his heart throb. He secretly wished too that this ceremony would just end already so he finally kiss her with them officially being man and wife.
"Asuna Reiss, do you take this man?"
She looks up at the priest with widened eyes. Wow, this was really happening. I'm going to be Queen. The ballroom filled with silence as everyone patiently waited for her to respond. There is no turning back now, the moment she accepts, she was his forever. A part of her hopes that this whole arrangement will work out in her favor. She looks at the crowd, then back up at Levi. Walking closer to him as he reaches his hand out to her, she gladly takes his hand. He smiles softly as he caresses her palm, and without meaning to, she chuckles a bit. Was she chuckling because she was happy? Shocked? In denial? Who knows, but it still makes Levi's heart warm when he sees her smiling at him. Taking a deep breath, she walks closer and holds his hand tighter before speaking.
"I take this man."
Levi sighs in relief, before taking her other hand, squeezing tight. He waits no time in wrapping his arm around her waist, pulling her close in front of everyone, his lips inches from hers.
"I hereby announce King Levi Ackerman and Queen Asuna Reiss, as husband and wife,' The priest concludes.
"Long may they reign!"
"Long may they reign!!!" The crowd repeats, before cheering and throwing white peddled roses up at them, screaming their names.
Levi picks her up and spins her around, before leaning her down in his arms as he smashes his lips against hers eagerly, which causes the crowd to cheer even louder. She wraps her arms around his neck for support as she feels Levi smiling in the kiss. Hange, Erwin, Dan, and everyone else smiled and cheered for them. Finally, Levi got married. Not only that, but it seems like he had gotten married to someone that he managed to fall in love with. Hange didn't even see that one coming. He seemed so happy, despite his famous stoic expression that he always had on, it was clear that he was happy despite the way he glares.
Levi lets go of the kiss while still holding her in his arms, looking down at her, gently rubbing her sides without a care in the world that hundreds of people were watching them.
"You're officially stuck with me now," he smirks at her.
She rolled her eyes and gently slapped his side, he lifted her back up without letting go of her once.
"Does that mean we can go home now?"
Levi sighed and shook his head. "I wish." He replied, cupping her cheek when he saw her respond with a pout. "You still need to be crowned Queen, remember?"
Oh yeah. I forgot that little detail. Damn it.
"Wasn't just getting married pretty much the same thing?"
"Not exactly, you still need to be crowned by the Premier Darius Zackly." He continues. "That's what I had to do too when I took the throne, trust me, I wish we didn't have to either."
She lets out a frustrated groan while nodding in defeat. Asuna doesn't think she has ever received this much attention in her entire life than she had in a span of one day. The thought of having more people eyeing her while some people secretly had their own opinions on the marriage, as well as the thought of kidnappers watching every move she makes, ready for their opportunity to strike. Her stomach churned, but she was confident in the guards and soldiers who protected her and Levi with their life. It wasn't just that though. The truth was, she felt so drained and exhausted, the pain in her stomach still lingering, eventually making it hard for her to ignore.
"Why? Are you feeling okay?" He adds, a mix of worry filling his eyes.
She hums as she looks up at him, leaning closer to him as she holds onto him tighter.
"I'm just... tired."
He soothes her as he rubs her side, taking her hand as they both walk out of the ballroom side by side. He gives her hand a gentle squeeze as he looks at her with reassurance.
"Don't worry baby, I've got you."
◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦
The actual coronation itself wasn't as long as the ceremony. This time it took place outside, upon a large built stage with the three sigils hanging off the stage. Hundreds more people watching from the sidelines than there were in the ballroom. She was changed out of her wedding dress and into a white, off-shoulder dress with a shine to it, and a flowing red clock signifying her as the new Queen. It was much more comfortable than her wedding dress, at least.
Kneeling down to Premier Zackly like she was instructed, the Premier finally laid the heavy crown on top of her head. Levi stood by the side, smiling softly.
"Long Live Queen Asuna Ackerman!" The premier yelled.
"LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!" The crowd screamed.
She stood up and faced the crowd. Levi stood beside her as she waved to her new subjects. It was official. Asuna Reiss was now Queen Asuna Ackerman. Despite the pain in her stomach and the nerves that lingered throughout her entire body, she managed to smile.
◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦
Looking from a distance, the hooded man who smirked at her earlier watched as the new Queen waved at the crowd. He was too far away for her to even notice him, he chuckled as he walked away into an empty alleyway. He unlocked the door to the Inn where he was staying nearby, he walked in to be greeted by six of his comrades, waiting for him to confirm Asuna's new status. There were four men and two women, all wearing ODM gear with pistols at their sides instead of swords. The man lets down his hood, nodding at his comrades as they smile back at him. Finally, he responds.
"Guess what my friends?" He smiled mischievously. "We have a new Queen."

[AN: I actually had the hardest time writing this chapter. But I tried to make it good, I really hope you liked it and it wasn't boring or lost your attention or anything. A royal wedding is actually really hard to write in a narrative concept. But the story is far from over, shit may or may not be about to go down. So sorry for the long wait, I'm trying to be better at it but with the story getting more complex I find it a lot harder. I just graduated from college and back at work so I've been trying to find the time to let locked in. I want to thank everyone that had commented and liked this this story! It makes my heart so warm and I'm so glad you all are enjoying it. I appreciate all of you!]
