new chapter is out. I don’t have much to say this time around, mostly because I think I addressed everything in the author’s notes.

I was thinking of doing a special post regarding my choices in this ship and explaining my farmers more, cause I get questions every so often about these things so I figured a type of q&a post would be a good way to answer everyone.

new chapter out! it’s a smaller chapter focused on Shane’s depression.

one of the things I always find funny (in a not funny way) are people upset that after romancing and marrying Shane that he is not “fixed.” like??? you married a depressed alcoholic; sure the alcoholic part can be “fixed” but the depressed part cannot.

as I’ve stated in earlier chapters, a lot of my story is heavily inspired from conversations and situations I’ve had with my own personal Shane. he’s one of my only friends, and he has a lot of baggage between his depression and being a recovery alcoholic. public service announcement; people like this are not meant to be your new fun project to work on. a lot of times they just want someone who can handle their mood swings and be able to understand when they do or don’t want to be bothered. my choices in words suck, but you get what I mean.

after a bit of a delay, chapter 9 is finally out! and it’s the infamous dock scene in Shane’s 2 heart event.

my family and I have a lot of vacations going on during the summer, so that’s my excuse to why it took so long to post. I also ran into a lovely issue where ao3 decided to randomly log me out while I was making last minute edits to the chapter, so that was something special to experience🥴

next chapter shouldn’t take too long to get out. (a week at the latest, just because I have a personal goal to limit myself and not do too many chapters at once.) I’ve got a good groove going, so I pretty much have the outline of the next three chapters done.

it’s been a week, so you know what time it is, folks! that’s right, time for a lobotomy—I mean a new chapter! yay!🥳🎉

this chapter brings the second part of Penny’s “messy home” heart event. it also brings Shane some feelings that he’s a little confused about.

chapter 5 of my Shane/Penny fic is up! this one was a fun one to write. my main focus of this chapter was to show a side of Shane that we aren’t accustomed to seeing. Jas just brings out the best of him!

chapter 4 is now up! in this chapter Penny has plans for Jas’ birthday. Also a surprise guest visits her home at night.

I want to clarify some things in this chapter that people may not understand. while I know that not everyone has the same experience when battling things mentally, I feel that the way I sculpted Shane’s character in this chapter is as close to how he would behave. because we don’t have the depth to these characters in game as we do with people in real life, I’m using experiences I’ve had with my own friends who suffer from depression.

that being said, I’m sure I’ll have at least one person think or say “wow, Shane is really ooc here.” he isn’t. depressed people aren’t ALWAYS suffering. there are some things that can lighten their mood and distract them enough to make life easy, even if it’s just for a few moments. in this case I figured that if there was only one thing that would bring Shane a small bit of happiness, it would be the same person that made him move to Pelican Town to make life a little better. obviously that person would be Jas.

anyway, now that I ranted so much, I hope you enjoy the chapter!

oh hey. I’ve come to realize that I’ve never shared my fanfic “Circle with Me” on here! this is a Stardew Valley fic centered around Shane/Penny. it’s a bit of a character study between the two along with how they come to form a relationship together.

check it out if you’re interested! I know it’s a bit of a crack pairing to some, but I think when people see how I’m writing the characters and interactions it will make a lot more sense than how I’m explaining it.
