Nike's Air Force 1 'Valentine's Day' is one of the cutest sneakers ever
If you’re dating a sneakerhead, Nike is about to drop the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day. Official images have surfaced for the annual Air Force 1 celebrating the holiday, and this year’s may just be the most creative sneaker yet.
Charm bracelets are the theme for the new Valentine’s Day sneaker, with “Love Nike” spelled out across the toe sneakers through a beaded lace dubrae. The motif is then repeated on the pink Swoosh, giving it a raised, brick-like texture. The rest of the sneaker keeps things super clean with white comprising the majority of the AF1, while the midsole adds another dash of pink and red branding appears on the tongue and mustache.
The word is still mum on whether the Air Force 1 “Valentine’s Day” will be a women’s or not, as past years have vacillated between sizing. A release date has yet to be set in stone either, and it’s possible delays will prevent the sneaker from dropping before the actual holiday.
THE HOTTEST SNEAKER IN THE WORLD — 2022 should bring another year flush with Air Force 1 releases, as the silhouette is now the top-selling sneaker in the world for two years running.
NPD’s resident sneaker expert Matt Powell released his industry review for 2021 and found that, no surprise, Nike absolutely dominated the market. All but one of the 10 top-selling sneakers in the world came from either Nike or Jordan Brand, with Adidas’ NMD R1 coming in at sixth. The top five sneakers all come from Nike proper, putting (in order) the Air Max 270, Air Vapormax Plus, Revolution, and Air Max 97 behind the Air Force 1.
Air Force 1s have become so hot that finding a classic pair of all-whites has become increasingly difficult, and as the Valentine’s Day release shows, Nike still isn’t running out of ways to remix the more than 30-year-old sneaker. Securing this year’s holiday sneaker for your partner will show not only that you love them, but also that you put in some work to make it happen.

The Most Expensive Sneakers of 2021 (So Far)
After ranking the best Air Jordans, best new sneaker designs, and best sneakers of the year (so far), it’s time for the one list that simply isn’t up for debate. There are no hot takes to defend here. There’s no fan-favorite omission that commenters will berate us over on Instagram. That’s because these are the shoes that had the secondary market jumping from January to June. These are the pairs that people were plotting on through StockX and GOAT screens while they awaited stimulus checks in the mail.
Whether it’s one of the year’s big collaborations like Supreme’s throwback-inspired Nike SB Dunk Lows or pairs that started off expensive at retail and held their value, like Nike’s Swarovski-covered Air Max 97s and Bape’s Court Stas, there’s a good mix of styles leading the flips in 2021.
Like Jay-Z famously said: Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t. The numbers here, by the way, come from StockX resale data. These are the most expensive sneakers of the year (so far).

First Look At This Amazin’ Nike SB Dunk High “New York Mets”
Nike SB is toying with a set of throwback MLB colorways in 2022, as we’ve already seen a Dunk Low dressed in the maroon and powder blue donned by the Philadelphia Phillies in eras prior. Another NL East franchise will be joining as we get a first look at a Nike SB Dunk High “Mets”.
Dressed in their signature Away grey uniforms, Nike SB adds the double-layered Swoosh with exposed stitching to mimic the authentic jersey patches used for the player names and team logos. On the interior side of the tongue is a purple circle with a number 7, an obvious nod to the 7-train that connects the Willets Point Blvd. station to either Flushing Main St. or Hudson Yards. The opposite tongue features a red apple with a miniature Mets skyline logo with “Home Run”, a call-out to the stadium’s giant apple at center field that pops up while a Home player rounds the bases after blasting a no-doubter.
While these are clearly a must for any fan of the Metropolitans, he connection that Nike SB has with the New York Mets starts all the way back in 2002 with the first-ever series of SB Dunks. Danny Supasirirat aka Danna Supa, given the opportunity to color his own Dunk model, quickly looked to New York sports teams for inspiration; he arrived at an orange blaze and game royal colorway with white, quickly appealing to the New York skate community.
Release info has not yet been confirmed, so stay tuned for updates.

A pair of Nike Dunks just won gold at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022
Typically the footwear worn by curlers is relatively unexciting, and most professionals compete in shoes that are equipped with Teflon sliders and are manufactured by sport-specific brands like Goldline Curling and Balance Plus.
During the 2018 Winter Olympics world class curler Matthew Hamilton, who as a part of Team United States helped his country secure its first ever gold medal in the sport during those games, bucked the trend when he surprisingly took to the ice in a pair of Nike PG3 Nasa Blue Apollo 15 Mission editions. The orange, silver and blue, space centre-themed sneaks had been specially modified for curling and for the first time came with underfoot blades - a typical pair of the sneaks would have no place on the rink, nor would they aid him securing a gold medal.
Now, for the 2022 Winter Olympics, which are currently in full swing over in Beijing, the American curling champ has made a similar move. Hamilton stepped out onto the sheet against Team Sweden during the Men's Round Robin Session on day six of the Games wearing a pair of custom “What The Paul” Nike SB Dunks.
The low-top sneakers in question released in May 2021 and had instant sell-out success (you can still buy them for triple their original price on resale sites like StockX). The Nike SB Dunk Low What The P-Rod pays homage to past Nike SB collaborations and releases from the P-Rod signature line, which was made in collaboration with skateboarding legend Paul Rodriguez. Its mismatched upper comes in an array of mesh, patterned rubber and leather, and punchy suede, while Rodriguez' signature sits on the tongue and the leather Swooshes are blacked-out.
Hamilton's ice-ready footwear were made in collaboration with Project Blitz, which is a sneaker consignment store in Los Angeles that boasts customers such as Beyoncé, Drake, and Jay-Z. Founded by sneaker dealer Andre Ljustina, Project Blitz operates out of an undisclosed location, and serves an unrivalled selection of rare original sneakers, as well as custom versions. Case in point: a pair of Ye’s Nike Air Yeezy 1 prototypes, reportedly worn by the rapper, sold for $1.8 million last year.
When asked what he was packing for the Olympics by ESPN prior to them taking place, Hamilton said "Some wild and crazy curling shoes! My guys at Project Blitz really hooked it up. They are the Nike SB Dunk Low 'What the P-Rod.' They are the perfect shoe for a guy like me!"

Here’s An On-Feet Look At The Gundam x Nike SB Dunk High White
Part of the upcoming Gundam x Nike SB Dunk High Project Unicorn collaboration, here is a first look at the Gundam x Nike SB Dunk High in the White colorway.
The Gundam x Nike SB Dunk High Project Unicorn will include two special iterations of the Nike SB Dunk High, both inspired by the popular Japanese figurines, Gundam. Specifically, the Unicorn Gundam is the source of inspiration for the duo as seen with the logo printed on the heel counter. Each pair is done in a color scheme derived from the RX-O and Banshee Norn Destroy Mode suits. Standout details include the interchangeable and modified Swooshes as a nod to its toy counterpart. The panels throughout the upper mirror the look of the fictional Gundam suit. A sheet of decals allowing you to customize the sneakers will also be a part of the release.
Get an on-feet look at the White pair from the Gundam x Nike SB Dunk High Project Unicorn collection above. Current reports suggest we see them drop very soon at select skate shops. Stay tuned for additional images and confirmed release info.

First Look At The Nike Dunk Low “Midas Gold”
The Nike Dunk‘s two-toned look is iconic, rooted in years of collegiate history. And in the years past, the color blocking has evolved alongside, expanding with combinations far outside the original “Be True To Your School” pack’s offerings. Today, the silhouette — in low-top form — has appeared in a new “Midas Gold” scheme, which could very well be a nod to the 49ers or FSU’s similarly-colored Seminoles. Through the base, the titular yellow dresses bold, filling in the toe box as it does the mid-panel and collar. The tongue, then, follows suit in nylon, contrasting the branding atop whose “Tough Red” shade is more a complement to the overlays: Swoosh, heel tab, eye stay, and all. Finally, white midsoles round out the entire look, somewhat balancing out the louder hues above.
For a closer look, see the images below. A release, as of writing this, is currently TBD, but expect more details to surface very soon.
