There are so many reasons why reputation would be so hard to re-record. The time in Taylor’s life where the whole WORLD was against her, when—and this is an assumption—her mental health was likely at the lowest it had ever been, would be so incredibly hard to relive, rework, and attempt to “make better.” Yes, her relationship with Joe and so many of the songs being about her falling in love with him are very specific to that time in her life, but let’s not forget about the betrayals, heartbreak, and terror she felt during that time that aren’t even related to a man. Art is at its best when the feelings are fresh. Reputation has those raw feelings built into the sound, and to top that? Especially when Taylor is at a good point in her life? Impossible. Reputation is perfect as is.
