So it must be said....I have tripped and fallen into a MotA situation that I was not at all not entirely prepared for. Frankly I feel like I've gone flying into the Grand Canyon (in a convertible? with sunglasses? a cold beverage?). I've been working on Jo in one form or another for a long, long time, and the rewrite is well underway. I'm realizing that it's OK (good, even!) to give myself a break from working on anything until the show is done airing. It's about what's fun and enjoyable and creative, and right now that's dropping Jo into some new and novel situations (flyboys, I mean flyboys).

For the lovely newcomers here, welcome — I've got a hopefully-helpful masterpost, a new OC one-shot up in the form of a Blind Date (hi Paulette), and waaay too many thoughts about Jo and a certain major. I really, truly, did not have this on my bingo card. It's fine. I'm having fun and trying not to feel too ridiculous about it, and I'd love to have you along for the ride ♡

"Three letters to the editor asking for an update on your boys. And that's just what they published." Jo didn't know what stopped her more, three letters to the editor or Kay saying her boys.

WIP — WHEN THE WAR CAME (Toye/WarCo OC)

Jo studied their uniforms, the bars and patches, wondering what would happen if she guessed wrong. Maybe it would get more of a story than this holiday talk. She sat back in her chair a little, straightened her shoulders. "You boys Air Force?" Instant scoffs. Bingo. "Airborne, sweetheart." She remembered a few clippings in the papers back stateside, The Clarion included. 'Chute troops. The Marines had them too, didn't they? So did the Germans. A new type of warfare. She'd been intrigued in the same way the other reporters all seemed to have been, marveling at what seemed like insanity. Shuddering at the thought of doing it herself. And then one of the stories had mentioned, almost offhandedly, the salary increase compared to the rest of the branches. And it had all made sense to Jo. Well. Most of it. Oh," she said, purposefully eyeing the gleaming sets of jump wings on their jackets. "Of course."

Even worse is the bottle of elderberry liqueur Chuck hands him, heavy black lettering and colored glass. Too floral. Floyd never liked the taste. But it's what they have here in Austria, words he can't read but can guess all the same. It tastes like a church bake sale, reminds him of flower-print dresses and his hand halfway up Sadie Workman's thigh.  Chuck looks like he's holding back a grimace, like he's wishing for something else. Tab would tease him, ask if he's secretly thinking of England's lukewarm beer or the apple brandy they'd found in Normandy, mud-soaked and exhausted, but he doesn't.
