Not photo related but a friend in Turkey had this to say about what is currently going on over there: 

"Im home tonight after three nights but they have just gassed taksim gezi park again... And a lot of people, thousands were there today.i am shocked.. Cant even speak right now.. They wont stop and there are reports that police are gathered all around the place and are hiding in some spots. Please spread the news hun.. Im not in it tonight but this is not looking good. Its police fighting and gassing a whole peaceful nation n protest. And pls post things on other sites as well. And now its confirmed that they are using helicopters to drop the tear gas bombs and st orange.. We are being treated like bloody lab animals. Some of the cannisters they used were out of date.. Not sure what kind of an effect it will have on us... Gotta go n check on my friends in gezi and my friends who live around the area.." Please share this around along with any similar stories you may find.

New Year, New Photo's, Late Start

So I've neglected this account for the months of 2013 that have already passed, although i have still been taking photo's i guess I've been somewhat distracted with other things.  I now find myself with a bit more time on my hands so it's time to start getting some updates.

I'm currently trawling through a load of images i took at a Bouncing Souls show last month and will be uploading these periodically as i sort out and clean up my favorites.

First redo of the Bronx pictures. I’d underexposed all the pictures I’d taken, so after editing them there is a lot more noise than I’d have hoped but at the same it i cant help but feel it adds a slightly more raw quality to the image, which i like to pretend is more fitting for the band.

Another picture from the Bronx show, I’d not uploaded this one previously.

Again it was slightly underexposed and there is more noise than I’d like after editing but despite this it’s still come out okay and i learned from the experience.

Redo: To do over again...

Following on from uploading the pictures of ‘Hell is for Heroes’ i couldn’t help but notice how much better they looked than the Bronx ones.

It’s obvious I’d taken a different approach with the photos partly in the fact that i decided to edit and convert the HIFH ones to Black & White, but it also probably helped that i actually calibrated my monitor. after uploading the Bronx images i viewed them on a couple of other screens and discovered that in comparison the screen on my Mac was in fact burning brighter than the sun.

Taking that in to account I’ve decided to go back and have another crack at some of the Bronx pictures (some of which i hope to upload later this evening) in a hope to get them up to the same/similar caliber. I had toyed with the idea of taking the original Bronx pics down but have now decided to leave them up, after all it’s part of a learning curve.

I can never remember which guitarist is which in ‘Hell is for Heroes’ I’m going to put this down to having never been formally introduced to them.

So this is a picture of (i think) Will of ‘Hell is for Heroes’ at the Kingston Peel on 21.11.12 (although it could be Tom).

On With the Show (Second Shoot)

So, last Wednesday (21.11.12) i got myself back down to the Kingston Peel to see Hell is for Heroes, a band that i had seen play a farewell show 4 years prior to this in 2008.

Despite the time out the band still sounded great and were as energetic as ever cracking through the entirety of their 2003 debut 'Neon Handshake' followed by a few songs from the following albums.

This was my second attempt at shooting at the venue and this time there was a bit of competition fighting for the best spaces to get the shot, most of whom I'm guessing were locals/regulars to the area as i was getting a few sideways glances implying my camera's presence wasn't completely welcome.

Anyway, it was a great time and i came away with some shots I'm pretty happy with which i'll be uploading as soon as I've clicked submit on this rant...
