In case you missed this, ZUN's Twitter account got hacked by crypto scammers and after the new account he tried to move to got suspended he's just said fuck it and moved to Bluesky (Here is a link)
He went on a radio stream today and apparently just went off on Twitter (Note: I am illiterate so I'm relying on machine translations of @tara_touhou on twitter and @progre.me on bluesky)
To summarize, "Twitter sucks ass, their security is useless, the first thing I saw after creating a new account was porn, the monetization of it made all the replies annoying foreigners saying the same thing over and over and all the people I hate are on there."
"Bluesky is great because it just shows me pictures of mushrooms and stuff."
Also important for archival, a group of people archived most, if not all of ZUN's twitter

Link to it here

While I understand this viewpoint, and I myself adore the little differences between different ideas, I feel like this ignores the fact that not everyone can derive enjoyment just from seeing something "new". There are people who cling to nostalgia, and will cling on it for years. People who group experiences or ideas by similarity, and will compare them to each other, only caring if something is better than the previous ones. People who just don't like people. Basically, they may never see the same thing twice, but they may WANT to see the same thing, meaning they're eternally unsatisfied, or they may not consider different things different because they have the same concepts.
To be clear, I don't think the idea of observer immortals is bad either. But I think there's a lot of opportunity being ignored by just saying jaded immortals don't make sense. By looking at what makes people jaded over the course of a mere few years, you can frame what someone would feel over centuries. comparing thousands of ideas from hundreds of years to a small handful of concepts they adored when young. Or perhaps not even remembering those concepts, and just comparing things to a vague sense of nostalgia. And when you have a character like this, you can work around what could be done to change their mindset or bring them joy. What does it really take to help someone like this appreciate the little differences in life? A characters like this not only offers a lot of interesting stories or scenarios, but also shows people that have lost their 'enjoyment' for new things in life that they are acknowledged. That they aren't just rejected or ignored because they don't follow the common desire for new experiences or sights.
TLDR; Even something is different, it may not feel different, and not everyone wants 'different' in the first place. Working around how to bring joy to these chars after hundreds of years - or with the reasons behind why such chars become jaded - offers its own set of interesting story opportunities.
I think my biggest problem with stories about immortals who want to die out of "boredom" or despair over living too long and being jaded about it is that like...
Yes, after a few eons you'd run out of things to master and learn, but like... The idea that observing humanity or other sapient beings is something that would ever get "boring" or you'd tire of makes no sense to me, considering we're the species that keeps making stories and art and sharing it with each other. I find it much more interesting to frame such characters as becoming passive observers than disillusioned with immortality.
To put it in other words: You could spend innumerable lifetimes observing people and never see the same thing twice.
#Hope this makes sense#Im awful at putting thoughts into words#I love little differences#but i know there's many people that don't

I recently found out why my mom would never sleep around me when I was a kid. Like she’d never let herself take naps or sleep if I was awake, ever. Or if she did, she would lock her bedroom door. So when I was 6, I was asleep in my bed in the middle of the night when I hear a loud bang, like a pot being dropped and come out to the living room to see my mom standing by the window, with just a huge pile of spaghetti all over the sill, and a pot on the ground, and I ’m like “Are you gonna eat all that?” And ya’ll she get’s BIG MAD and yells at me and chases me to my room but then a little while later a bunch of cops show up and ask me a bunch of random ass questions about my art? Like this one cop lady keeps asking me to draw dragons for her?! And they seem mad as hell
I didn’t want to get arrested so I just never asked my mom for spaghettis after that. Lesson, learned. Don’t ask mom for spaghettis or she’ll call the damn police on you.
So I have this memory in my head, and it goes unquestioned until I say it outload for the first time a few months back and as soon as I say the words “When I was six, my mom called the cops on me for asking for spaghettis” My adult logic slams into place and is like “Hang on. Your mother definatly did not call the police on a 6 year old for asking for spaghetti.”
So obviously that’s not what really went down. I call up my mom to tell her how I remember it and on top of her figuring out why her kid has always been really cagey around spaghettis for the last 3 decades she tells me what really happened.
So on that night, a man tried to break into our house through the front window. It was just my mom, and her kids so she did what she felt she had too and shot him in the head. He’d been wearing a helmet, which landed on the floor under the window.
Now I just want ya’ll to put yourselves in my moms shoes for a minute here. This woman has just taken a human life. The trauma of that- the instant agony, the panic, the guilt, the fear- all of it hitting her at once, her only solace the knowledge that her children are safe. She protected her daughters. No matter the cost to her soul- her children are safe.
Then she looks up and sees her six year old staring at the inside of this mans head before saying “Are you gonna eat all that?”

Prooobably not the kind of “ruin” you’re into, but was literally just reading dialogue for Scylla in azur lane. Who acts like a kind and accepting maid...then it turns out she’s trying to turn you into a useless sponge who can’t function without her.
i am apparently just magnetically attracted to anime girls in the "outwardly elegant and soft but a dark person that will ruin your life" archetype.
i just keep stumbling into the same mouse trap over and over again but my god the bait is just so delectable

i had a dream that i asked you your opinion on something, but i don't remember what. give me 1 opinion of your choice instead
the pursuit of perfection is a dead end road that can only burn you in the long term as you constantly try to improve and improve beyond your ceiling. embrace your limits and don't be afraid to create things that are average.
average is still enjoyable, after all

I still fondly remember seeing someone dressed up as a rappy in a mechbike, where the bike transformed whenever they did a certain emote.
there's this really interesting thing going on between pso2 and ff14
ff14 basically has free posing and you can just kind of do whatever you want to take screenshots and make basic poses. meanwhile, pso2 doesn't have that, but there's nearly a thousand different emotes and dances you can do, along with commands to adjust where your eyes face, your character's head turns, etc
basically ff14 players click one button to pose for a screenshot, while pso2 players end up basically writing out an entire line of code in chat commands.
however, while ff14 has powerful posing options, your character customization basically requires mods to do like.. anything. and meanwhile in pso2 you can see a bunch of different body types in lobby, while some guy runs by as a gundam, someone else is literally just a tank, and then mr. clean and the pringles mascot are staring each other down angrily

Wait – people know that Plinko isn’t a made-up word, right?
I mean, it’s a made-up word in the sense that all words are made up, but it had a prior meaning. I keep seeing posts where it’s included in a list of gibberish words we made up For The Meme recently, but…Plinko is a game from The Price Is Right. It’s been around for almost forty years.
Don’t get me wrong, Horse Plinko is still a great gif and also fun to say, but the reason it’s called that is that it’s a horse falling through a big plinko game….

I’m not the best editor (not even a great one), but when I saw Fairy Knight Lancelot’s 3rd Ascension, it got me thinking how it’d look with a bit of color changes to make certain parts look more clothed. And give her something resembling pants. https://twitter.com/purplepolypus/status/1415400080232919040
