I'm back on clinical rotation after what feels like ages and I AM HAVING SO MUCH FUN (except for abscess i&d's they're honestly the worst)

in the past two days I have seen lap chole's, mastectomies, 10000 hernias, 36373838 diabetic ulcers, 1 to be amputated foot, 3 very very unfortunate abscesses, husband's fainting on seeing wife get stitches, a mildly paranoid man (with laceration on his scalp so deep the bone was peeking out) tell the doctor mid stitches he needs to pee and will literally pee his pants on the ot table if they didn't let him go, the doctor telling him to go right ahead, a man with a food blender blade stuck in his rib ONE CM from his heart, and 8454738292 index finger fractures for some reason

sometimes I just think about the fact that we can ask someone a few questions about their life and listen to their organs with our little ear devices and feel their tummy and know with fair certainty what they're suffering from, what wizardry

med school is such a disorienting experience, there's 18 yr old babies and 30+ yr old fully grown adults and they're both students

college is all about going up and down stairs
