Radharamana Temple was built in an initiative taken by Gopala Bhatta Gosvami. It is believed that ever since 1542, this temple is being worshipped for the belief that Lord Krishna revealed his holy presence during the full moon day of Vaisakhi from a Salagram-Shila. Every year, during this auspicious event, the idol of Lord Krishna is bathed with milk and various religious items and further distribute the bathed milk to the devotees as a token of blessing, Charanamrita. Apart from the worship of Radharamana, other Salagram-Shilas are also worshipped on the same day. In addition, another attraction here you must not fail to notice is the fire in the temple kitchen. It is said to be lit for more than 460 years, ever since the establishment of the temple and it serves its purpose in cooking.

Who killed Rukmi according to the Mahabharata?
Rukmini the ruler of Vidarbha according to the epic Mahābhārata. He was the son of king Bhishmaka and elder brother of Rukmini. The Harivamsha mentions that Rukmi was trained in the arts of warfare by the Kimpurusha Druma. Krishna married Rukmini by abducting her from the Vidarbha kingdom, though Rukmi wanted to give her as bride to Chedi king Shishupala. He fought with Krishna, but was defeated. When Krishna was about to kill him, Rukmini begged that spare her brother's life. Krishna agreed and let Rukmi go free, but not before having his head shaved as a visible sign of a warrior's defeat.
Rukmi never returned to his capital Kundinapuri in Vidarbha. Instead he created another capital called Bhojakata to the west of Kundina and started ruling the country from there. Rukmi’s daughter Rukmavati, married Krishna’s son Pradyumna. Rukmavati and Pradyumna had a son Aniruddha.
Rukmi later became friends with Krishna. However Rukmi was not accepted by Arjuna or Duryodhana as an ally in the Kurukshetra War, because of his boastfulness. Thus Rukmi's Vidarbha army stayed away from the Kurukshetra War, becoming a neutral army in the encounter between the Kauravas and the Pandavas.
Rukmi was killed by Balarama because he cheated Balarama in dice game. (Read more….)

How long was the Mahabharata War?
Jaya, the core of Mahabharata, is structured in the form of a dialogue between Kuru king Dhritarashtra (born blind) and Sanjaya, his advisor and chariot driver. Sanjaya narrates each incident of the Kurukshetra War, fought in 18 days, as and when it happened.
Dhritarashtra sometimes asks questions, expresses doubts and sometimes laments, knowing about the destruction caused by the war to his sons, friends, and kinsmen. He also feels guilt for his own actions that led to this war, so destructive to the entire Indian subcontinent.
Some 18 chapters of Vyasa's Jaya comprise the Bhagavad Gita, one of the sacred texts of the Hindus. This work deals with diverse subjects like geography, history, warfare, religion and morality. According to the Mahabharata itself, the Jaya was recited to the King Janamejaya, the great-grandson of Arjuna, by Vaisampayana, a disciple of Vyasa (then called the Bharata). The recitation of Vaisampayana to Janamejaya was then recited again by a professional storyteller named Ugrasrava Sauti, many years later, to an assemblage of sages performing the 12-year-long sacrifice for King Saunaka Kulapati in the Naimisha forest (then called the Mahabharata).

Is Radha and rukmini is same?
They were two different people. Radha was from UP while Rukmani was from Maharashtra. Her brother Rukmi ruled the Vidarbha kingdom. Radha was so unimportant that she isn't even mentioned in the Mahabharata.
It is also said that there is no mention of Radha in the Vedasbut it is said that Radha and Rukmini both were the the incarnations of goddess Lakshmi and were the favourite of Krishna. Some even claim that he believed that they both are the same and that is the reason why Krishna married Rukmini.

What is myth or story behind the name of sacred Shalagram shila?
Original Shaligram Stone are the highly valued dark stones that are usually available in the Kali Gandaki river valley of Mustang district in Nepal, the place is widely known as shaligramkshetra and or Muktikshetra. Hindus and Vaishnav sect do believe it as Lord Vishnu’s presence in the form of Shila (stone). The actual origin site of shaligrama is Damodarkunda (name of Lake), which lies in the lap of Damodar Himal. The exact location, which is few days far from Muktinath Temple (Chuming Gyatsa) premises. Shaligram-kshetra (area) is extended vertically approx. from Northern-region of Upper-Mustang to the Southern-part of Nepal, named as Ruru (part of Palpa district) and Narayani Water course.
In general, when Narsingh-Khola blends with the stream coming through Upper Mustang, it gets the name as Kaligandaki. Because Shaligram stones are commonly visible after this confluence point since Damodar-Himal and Damodar Kunda are the main sources of Narsingh Khola. As I already stated about the famous and origin site for Shaligrams. But yet some people claim that the river obtained its name as Kaligandaki once the holy streams that come from the sacred water-spouts of Mukti Dhara confluence with under-ground creek and waterway that come from Upper mustang at Kagbeni. To know more about Sacred Shilas Click here........

In Ramayana, who was Manthara? What was her contribution to the great epic of Ramayana?
Manthara was the hunchback maid servant of Kaikeyi. She lived with Kaikeyi since her birth. She has a large contribution to this epic which is usually ignored.
A little back story
Kaikeyi, before her marriage with Dasharatha, had saved his life in battle. After this incident, Dasharatha had promised to Kaikeyi that he would fulfill two of her wishes. She could ask for anything, anything at all. However, Kaikeyi didn't ask for anything at that point of time.
Manthara's contribution to the Ramayana
Kaikeyi's son's name was Bharata. She loved him but she also loved her stepsons, especially Rama, a lot. When Raja Dasharatha planned the coronation of Sri rama, Manthara was enraged. She had always lived with Kaikeyi and wanted Kaikeyi's son to rule. Manthara thought to poison Kaikeyi's mind. She kept telling Kaikeyi that Rama's coronation would create an issue for Bharata. Kaikeyi eventually started to think about it. She thought about the ways in which Rama's coronation could be cancelled. Manthara suggested that she should use the two wishes that she'd got years ago. One wish was that Sri Rama would go for fourteen years of exile and the other was that her son, Bharata would rule the kingdom of Ayodhya.
This was the reason for the entire Ramayana. This was the reason the epic could unfold. Manthara is not one of the most talked-about type characters. But her contribution is extremely important in the Ramayana.

What is Arjuna Puran? Who is the author of it?
Arjuna is the main protagonist of the Indian epic Mahabharata and also appears in other ancient Hindu texts. the author of arjuna puran is Krishna-Dwaipayan Vyasa. In the epic, he is the third among Pandavas, the five sons of Pandu. He was born when Indra, the god of rain, blessed Kunti and Pandu with a son. The family formed part of the royal line of the Kuru Kingdom.
From childhood, Arjuna was a brilliant student and was favoured by his beloved teacher, Drona. Arjuna is depicted as a skilled archer and wins the hand of Draupadi in marriage. She becomes his first wife and is simultaneously married to Arjuna's brothers because of Kunti's misunderstanding.
He is twice exiled, first for breaking a pact with his brothers; and secondly together with them when his oldest brother has tricked into gambling away the throne. Some notable incidents during the first exile were Arjuna's involvement in the burning of the Khandava Forest and his marriages with Ulupi, Chitrāngadā and Subhadra. From his four wives, Arjuna had four sons, one from each wife, Shrutakarma, Iravan, Babhruvahana and Abhimanyu.
During his second exile, Arjuna gained many celestial weapons. Despite being a powerful warrior, Arjuna was also skilled in music and dance. For Agyatvāsa (Incognito), Arjuna stayed in the Matsya Kingdom and disguised himself as a eunuch named Brihannala. After the exile, his disciple, Uttarā was married to his son, Abhimanyu. Before the beginning of the Kurukshetra War, Lord Krishna became his charioteer and taught him the sacred knowledge of Gita.[1] In the war, Arjuna defeated and killed many warriors including Bhagadatta, Jayadratha and Karna. After the war, Arjuna was killed by his son, Babhruvahana, but revived by Ulupi.

What are some must-see places in Vrindavan and Mathura?
Best Time To Visit
The best time to visit Mathura is during winter, between the months of October and March.
History
The origin of Mathura is ancient. It is said to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna, the popular incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Mathura and the area around it, including Vrindavan, are linked with the childhood exploits of Lord Krishna. It is mentioned in the ancient Indian epic of Mahabharata. It later became a part of the Mauryan Empire. King Ashok, the great Mauryan ruler, built a number of Buddhist monuments in and around Mathura in the third century BC. Between first century BC and first century AD, Mathura was the center for arts. The sculpture making and stone carving styles of this period are referred to as belonging to the Mathura School of Art. The main theme of these sculptures was inspired by the life of Lord Buddha. The decline of Buddhism in this region following the decline of the Mauryan Empire saw the rise of Hindu influence. However, in the 11th century AD, Mahmud Ghazni destroyed a large number of Buddhist and Hindu shrines. In the 15th century, Sikandar Lodhi, one of the Sultans from Delhi, continued the pillage of this city. The last great Mughal ruler and a fanatic Muslim, Aurangzeb flattened the Kesava Deo temple and a built a mosque here. The Afghani marauder Ahmed Shah Abdali dealt the final blow in 1757, when he torched the city. It came under British rule in 1804.
Places Around Mathura
1. Vrindavan is 10 km from Mathura and it is associated with the childhood exploits of Lord Krishna. Like Mathura, Vrindavan is also famous for its temples. There are about 4,000 temples in Vrindavan. The main temples are Govind Dev Temple, Rangaji temple, Bankey Bihari temple, Shri Radharaman Mandir, Radha Ballabh temple, Madan Mohan temple, Pagal Baba temple and the Nidhi Van temple. 2. Gokul is 16 km south of Mathura. It is said that Lord Krishna was secretly raised here. 3. Mahaban is 18 km southeast of Mathura. Lord Krishna is believed to have spent his youth here.

Why did Krishna let Abhimanyu die?
Abhimanyu was the son of Arjuna and Subhadrā and the nephew of God Krishna. Abhimanyu married princess Uttara of the Matsya Kingdom. He was born for a purpose to play a significant role in the Mahabharata war. His death in the Kurukshetra war of Mahabharat was very tragic. It is believed that Abhimanyu  was the reincarnation of Varchas i.e. the son of the Moon God. When devas ( gods) asked Moon god let his son incarnate on earth, Moon God put a condition that his son will only remain on earth for 16 years. The reason was that his son could not bear to be separated from him. That is why Abhimanyu was 16 years old when he died in the battle and Krishna didn’t save him.

Important Facts Related To Life That People Should Know About
Life is a wonderful opportunity that has been granted by the good to us. So, it is very much important for us to recognize our potentials and utilize them to help others and make ourselves perfect. Being good and better in front of everyone is of material existence and it is very much possible for one to decipher the true meaning of life. So, if you are interested in having proper information about life then this is the perfect article for you. Because we are going to provide you information regarding some of the facts related to life that are there in Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Have a look if interested in knowing each and everything in detail.
FACT 1: According to Gaudiya Vaishnavism, there are three fundamental entities and they are god, living beings, and the dead. An entity that has no power and consciousness to do something is considered to be dead. Ergo water, fire, ether, and wind are considered to be dead as per Gaudiya Vaishnavism. On the other hand things, those who possess power such as man, animals, birds, etc can be classified as living entities.
FACT 2: From all the conscious beings, human beings are most of the most conscious. This is because man is the one having the ability to think, decide, will, and feeling to surpass all the other entities.
FACT 3: Next fact that is very much important for you to know is that God is the one creator of both consciousness that is of living beings and the dead one. According to Gaudiya Vaishnavism, god is the most supreme conscious being and complete one from all the entities. He is the controller and ultimate cause for everything that is created and caused in the world. God is the one who dwells in the spiritual world and is separate from the world of dead matter. Ergo, his divine is that his creation survives and will remain functional forever. Isn’t this an interesting fact?
FACT 4: Do you know? God is not formless. Yes, you are hearing this correct as per Gaudiya Vaishnavism god is not formless. God posses a form but he is the one no trapped in a body or a dead matter. As result, he is the one who cannot be perceived by gross material senses. Therefore, this is the only reason why revealed scriptures state that God is Nirakara. Ergo, this means that God is having no form and does not possess a form because he is not material.
FACT 5: All the living entities, especially conscious beings are spirit souls. We the entities of the world are spiritual and are trapped in a body of dead matter.
Hence, these are some of the most important facts that should be known by people.
Lastly, we would like to say that life is god gifted so enjoy it and do the things of your choice. To know or to learn about Gaudiya Vaishnavism, you can go and contact the Shriradharaman website. Why is Lord Krishna also called Shyam?
Shyam is an enchanting name of Krishna used separately as well as in combination with other words like Radheshyam, Ghanshyam, Shyamsundar, Shyamgopal, and many others. Krishna is called Shyam due to his dark complexion (the word Shyam means dark). The very term Krishna is suggestive of Black complexion.
The science behind colors and lights says white is the perfect reflector. White is the combination of all seven colors. Black is the perfect absorber and it is the absence of any other color. When there is light, colors come to existence. When there is no light, there is no color. The vastness of the ether space is black all over. It is the source from where everything emerges and then merges back.

Which Bija Mantras can ladies chant?
In the Vedas themselves it is said that mantras are common to all,
Previously women also used to perform sacrifices along with men, hence we have the word saha-dharmini(sabatimini older)
But when a separate caste was formed(brahmin) for preserving the Vedas, women stopped performing them , instead they would assist the men...
Same thing with caste , it is only a division of labour and also natural inclination of a person not determined by birth... ofcourse the Vedas could be studied by the first 3 castes...
so women are not allowed to chant the gayatri because , each has to do their assigned duty ... it is division of labour men in the family perform the rituals and gayatri on behalf of others
so thats the thing ...
It is now is relative ... men are not performing sacrifices etc, the system is not working now. Caste also has the same reasoning...so in my opinion women can chant ...
also, whatever anyone says , Vedas are the authority...
Vedas say, it is common to all... "Samano Mantraha..." all knowledge etc...
But ofcourse the mantras or the Vedas are to be taught only to those people who live a pure life and do not indulge in wicked deeds...

When and by whom was Shree Samadhi Mandir built?
Samādhi or samadhi mandir is the Hindi name for a temple, shrine or memorial commemorating the dead which may or may not contain the body of the deceased. Samadhi sites are often built in this way to honor people regarded as saints or gurus in Hindu religious traditions, wherein such souls are said to have passed into mahāsamādhi, or were already in samādhi at the time of death. Ruined group of samadhi for the rajas of Kutch and their courts, at Bhuj, Gujarat.
Samadhi is also used in Sikhism for the mausoleums of eminent figures, both religious and political. Examples include the Samadhi of Ranjit Singh in Lahore, and that of Maharaja Sher Singh near Lahore. Hindu equivalents are usually called chatri, although those for Maratha Empire figures also often use "samadhi".
The forms of structure called "samadhi" vary greatly. The word is sometimes used for a memorial stele, also called paliya, a type of hero stone once common in parts of Gujarat and Sindh. It may be used for small memorial buildings such as open chatri, often placed around a temple.
The tradition of India is cremation for most Hindu people at the time of death, while samadhi is generally reserved for very advanced souls, such as yogis and saints, who have already been "purified by the fire of yoga"[4] or who are believed to have been in the state of samadhi at time of death. Samadhi may not involve cremation.
