The trickle up effect:

Baggy jeans were introduced in the 1990s and worn by skaters, hardcore punks, ravers, rappers and hip-hop musicians, but eventually took-off in popularity in the mid-1990s. They also became popular when MC Hammer wore them in his music video ‘Can’t Touch This’. People began wearing baggy jeans as streetwear looks as they popularised quickly. Baggy jeans were very popular along with baggy bondage pants during the nu metal era. In the late 90s they were first seen on the catwalk and worn with bra tops, for example, Dolce & Gabbana. Celebrities such as Kate Moss, Gigi Hadid, Dua Lipa, Victoria Beckham, Rita Ora, Jennifer Aniston, Katie Holmes and Yara Shahidi have all worn baggy jeans. Brands such as, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Diesel have all showcased baggy jeans on the catwalk. Baggy jeans are still trending and popular nowadays after 30+ years.

Market Level Research:

I decided to write about some designers and lower high street. For example, the designers I chose were Giovanni Versace, Donatella Versace (Versace) and Karl Lagerfeld (Fendi and Chanel). All of these designers have classy yet elegant looks but are all different, this interested me to write about each of them. Moreover, for lower high street I talked about charitable clothing shops and Primark as it is quick fashion for affordable prices.

Mood Board:

My client/savvy student is very laidback. She is 18 years old enjoying her time at University. She loves to spend quality time with her friends, whilst burying her head in her studies. In the mornings she loves to visit the cafe to study and grab a coffee before her first class. Her dreams consist of graduating at University with her friends and working in her desired career. A very organised person as she is always seen with her planner and post-it notes.

Savvy Student:

Her evening wear, I created a look where she can relax whilst visiting her friends. I paired the black jacket with black joggers to emphasise her laidback lifestyle. I also added a silky white t-shirt and white air force 1s. For accessories and jewellery I chose a silver bracelet, earrings and watch as it makes the outfit look classy. Finally, I included a white tote bag so she can carry her planner, books and stationary with her.
