Through all her years as a Jedi; apprentice, Knight, and now Master, seldom had she ever ignited her lightsaber in anger. Anger in of itself was an emotion that was contrary to the percepts of the Jedi teachings. Therefore, to present oneself as a soldier, felt like a deviation from the path of a Jedi. Of course, they weren’t soldiers. Or so said the High Council.
They were peacekeepers, fighting to maintain the peace. Jedi don’t fight for peace, they fight for justice. Jeisel thought, her mind reciting the words of Master Windu himself.
Was this war unjust, then? Or was the Confederacy unjust? It was hard to say. Diplomacy, empathy, compassion, mediation, negotiation - these were qualities that every Jedi strove to nurture, and use, to help find answers to questions such as this. Unfortunately, droids lacked the capacity for any of these things. Or, at the very least, these droids had been programmed in such a way to be utterly deficient in these respects.
She stood with her arms folded across her chest, eyeing the flickering Holograms of the war room with an interest that bordered on the casual. The ARC Captain meticulously pointed at each one with a diligence that was admirable even by Jedi standards, reciting the objectives of the operation down to the most minute detail.
Never before had she come across an ARC trooper, her previous deployments had been in support of the rank and file. But so far, she was impressed by their professionalism.
A thumb traced the tufts of fur on her elbow absently. The clones had proven themselves time and again, both to her and the entire Republic, that they were a capable, loyal, and commendable fighting force - easily a match for the Confederacy.
Why had she been assigned to a special forces unit, that presumably, worked perfectly well without Jedi oversight? If the ripples of discontent in The Force were anything to go by, these men felt similarly. Some were unnerved, but Jeisel assumed that many of them probably hadn’t seen a Devaronian before. The rows of carnivorous teeth could be unnerving to many.
Her hand fell to her hip, and the other brushed a stray braid of hair from her eyes. “Forgive the interruption, Captain, but, where do I come into all this?”

Sian Jeisel was a Devaronian Jedi Master who served the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. Following the Battle of Geonosis, she was one of only a handful of Masters who excerised the Right of Denial and rejected the Jedi Council's conscription of Jedi into the Grand Army of the Republic. When her mentor and friend, Master Sora Bulq, another denier, revealed himself to be in league with Count Dooku, Jeisel reluctantly agreed to aid the Republic against the Confederacy.
She served on many fronts during the war, and ultimately her misgivings about corruption in Republic would be proven to be well founded upon the execution of Clone Protocol 66. Jeisel sacrificed herself fighting off dozens of her own troops in order to facilitate the escape of several younglings. Though rumors of her survival persisted well into the Imperial Age, some suggesting she had turned to bounty hunting to make a living...
