A character obsessing over their sick partner because they just look so cute like this...

I love when a character wakes up bleary and a little disoriented after days of fever. They're in bed with a cool cloth on their forehead (though by now it's a little warm), and they're sweating under the covers. They're still not well, but they're well enough to know what's going on.
As they sit up, the cloth falls onto the bed, and they look around to find their caretaker asleep in the chair beside them. Caretaker is overjoyed when they're woken up to find the most lucid version of character they've seen in days.

carewhumpee with their hand to whumpee's forehead, exhausted, relieved: "I think your fever broke."
whumpee who is still very much running a fever, worried, upset that carewhumpee has been running themselves into the ground while they're sick just to care for them: "I think you're just burning up."

Things Sick Characters Do...
›› refuse to admit they’re sick while literally swaying on their feet (“I’m fine.” immediately crashes into the couch and doesn’t get up for 2 hours)
›› that stubborn little forehead crease when they’re trying to pretend they’re not in pain but they definitely are
›› saying “I’m not cold” while shivering like a leaf and glaring at the blanket you’re offering like it insulted their honor
›› wearing like… 3 hoodies. and a beanie. and a blanket cape. looking like a lump of denial with a nose
›› flinching when they cough too hard, like it surprised them and they feel a little betrayed by their own body
›› that specific exhausted way of blinking, slow and confused, like their brain is buffering every time you ask a question
›› apologizing for being sick. like their immune system personally offended you. like they should’ve scheduled it better
›› getting clingy in that low-energy, wordless way. like reaching for your sleeve or sitting closer without saying anything
›› drinking tea like it’s a punishment. making a face after every sip but still doing it because someone made it for them
›› trying to pretend they’re still useful. doing tasks badly. insisting on helping and then immediately sitting down like “okay I need a nap now”
›› using exactly zero words to communicate for three days. just grunting and side-eyes and one finger raised when they need something
›› being deeply offended by how gross they feel. muttering “I hate this” every few minutes like their own mucus is their nemesis
›› standing up too fast and doing the classic “whoa. gravity’s intense today” stagger
›› texting you things like “bring soup. i am dying. goodbye” but then surviving anyway, unfortunately for the drama
›› finally accepting help after pretending they didn’t need it, and getting weirdly quiet when someone tucks the blanket around them just right
›› looking genuinely surprised when someone takes care of them. like it never crossed their mind that anyone would

vibe check on person A faking a cold or similar illness for attention, and person B knowing the truth – whether by their own deduction or being told in confidence – but playing into the fantasy* because they know what person A really needs in the moment is a little care, attention, and validation.
(*not in a malicious or manipulative way on A’s part, mind you. more like a coping mechanism?)

Pure!!!
i love the idea of someone faking sick not to get care/attention for themselves but because their partner NEEDS to slow down and take a break, or they NEED to feel needed. like the only way they’ll get their partner to stay home and relax is if they themselves fake being unwell because their partner will drop everything in a split second to care for them. or their partner has been feeling really down lately and needs a confidence booster, needs to feel needed for something, so they fake ill and act a little more needy and attention seeking, asking small things like “could you get me that box of tissues?” “could you make me some soup?” “could you get me an ice pack?” “could you bring me some water?” “could you put on some water for tea?” “could you get me some more blankets?” small small small things but they make their partner feel useful. idk. i love those

In case my repeated attempts at brainstorming for Sicktember prompt 5 "Worst Possible Timing" are helpful to anyone, worst possible moments for Blorbo to suddenly feel unquestionably, unconcealably sick:
-Receiving or giving a love confession
-On the dawn of a canon-typical battle or mission
-During a TV interview
-In the middle of a road trip
-The precise moment the helicopter disappears over the horizon after dropping their team off for a wilderness rescue mission
-Just after their car breaks down
-The night they're planning to propose
-In the exact middle of a funeral
-While babysitting
-When someone else is in the hospital (and needs their help)
Feel free to add, because I still haven't come up with an idea I like 🥴

Someone doesn't want to cancel on a date. They're definitely coming down with something, but want to tough it out and go anyways...
...until their date calls them and cancels for, you guessed it, not feeling well.
They hesitate for a moment, say they’re sorry they aren’t feeling well, then say, quietly: "Now that you mention it, I'm not feeling so hot, either."

One thing about the flu is that it worsens fast. I'm talking actual influenza, not the colloquial 'stomach flu' which has nothing to do with influenza. A character can go to bed almost perfectly fine and wake up a few hours later at hospital levels of bad. They can be dying before they even know what hit them.
I'm especially thinking of a whumpee coming home from a trip exhausted and kind of run down but their partner just chalking it up to travelling or maybe stress as they go to bed. Only, the next morning, Whumpee has a horrendous fever and they have such a bad cough their chest sounds like it's crunching as they cough.

I love the idea of writing scripts for those ASMR channels for sick comfort. They make great reads, too!
More specific themes would be ideal, gender neutral.
Do any of you have any special prompts to request?

It’s a little rushed, but I wanted to get this done before I go to bed!
A sniffly Howl. What’s wrong? You decide! The movie didn’t make him dramatic enough, tbh.
I heavily used references because this was my first time drawing him lol… I’m a bit nervous to post art on here so be nice… dipping my toe in real quick and running away
