“mm, good morning gorgeous.” he chuckled, voice still thick with sleep. jasper turned around in her embrace, arms snaking around clem to pull her close. “you truly are the best thing to wake up to.” he mused.

" good morning, handsome " clem says once the sun starts to shine into their room, trying to wake him up. " are you awake ? " she asks as she starts to cuddle him.

yea yea we all know the good ole “secretly seeing the father’s best friend” trope. but what about “seeing your father’s former cellmate” trope? eh? who wants to give bowie a much older man, who was formerly in prison with her dad. who maybe she happened to meet on one of her visits. the cellmate gets out before her dad and her dad tells him to see her about getting a gig on the family’s racing team. gimme all the angst of the forbidden, and age gap fun, everything!!

"You see these hands?" Serena gingerly held them up, drink in one as she made a mock gesture of surrender. "They won't stop you if anything happens to him. In fact, I'll take you out to dinner." She mused. Being able to joke after the whole ordeal made it that much more obvious to her that Daryl's place was practically a sanctuary for her. She didn't have to worry about anything with him around.
"Let me help?" She asked, something between an offer and a question. As safe as she felt, she preferred to be doing something until her mind was completely at ease. The redhead moved off of the couch before he could answer, regardless, determined to offer even a little assistance. It wasn't that he couldn't handle it, she just liked to be useful. "Tomorrow, after we get my things. I'd like to stop by the grocery store too. Pick up some things to make you dinner, as a thank you."
"He deserves worse," he muttered, but he grudgingly cracked a smile. He found it almost impossible not to smile when she laughed, and the fact that she could do it right now, after having the life scared out of her, told him all he needed to know about whether she felt safe here.
"I'm sure." He stood, circling the couch. It wasn't late, but he'd prefer it be ready for her, and Daryl was always more comfortable with something to do. "I'll change out the sheets, get ya a clean blanket." He wouldn't get a wink of sleep if he knew she was on the couch when there was a perfectly good bed just one room away. It was also further from the front door. He didn't really expect her ex to find her here, but if he did, he wasn't getting past Daryl. There was a bat and a crossbow in the closet, to say nothing of the weapons he had locked away. He'd been raised on hunting and bar fights.

“Well there’s that.” Jordy chuckled, leaning on the palm of her hand. It was all just, unsettling. Sure the small convenience store wasn’t in the best part of town, but the amount of sirens and such she’d heard since the alerts had started? Wasn’t normal, she had a subconscious habit of counting them when they screamed past the store front. So far? A few too many for her liking, even if she was hoping this was all just some hoax or mediocre issue.
"How about this, you wait about, five minutes? I'll close up the shop and you can give me ride home? That way I make it there in one piece, and you know that I did."
Cont. from @sideofmischicf || Pedro and Jordy (x)

"Yeah. Now that I think on it, you're not wrong." If there was something going on, surely law enforcement would know, right? He was a damn detective, he and his partner should have been alerted to something, anything. It was what had him hoping it was just a drill or elaborate prank, nothing more... But his gut. His gut said differently.
"Yeah, well if this is something, I'd rather see you getting out of here safely. Always another job out there somewhere, better to piss off your boss than get stuck."

“Now we’re talking.” Jordy laughed, nodding her thanks to Vaughn as she took the beer offered to her. He was the only customer she’d had in the last few hours, what with all the alerts she assumed the big box stores were probably more over run. Spurred by that initial panic to grab things before curfew struck. “I like the way ya think, V.” She cracked hers open with a hum. Gingerly she grabbed the keys to the shop door, swinging the lanyard around her wrist.
Jordy shuffled around the counter and followed Vaughn out, nodding at his question. “Yea, I’m too curious to not to.” She locked the door behind her as she sipped at her beer. gesturing down the sidewalk with her drink. “Majority of the action seems to be that way, shall we?”
Tumblr media
"Abso-fuckin-lutely." Vaughn did appreciate a bit of chaos, not any personal drama but something that shook up their humdrum lives at least a little. He ripped the cardboard of his six pack and handed one to Jordy. "Just the one can't hurt, make the shift go by faster." With a grin he cracked his open and brought it to his lips as he pushed open the door of the bodega with a little ring of the bell above his head.
This time a fire truck sped past and he turned his head towards the direction it was going. "You wanna shut up shop for a few minutes?"

"Well the next time, text me or something so I can be there to witness it first hand." She teased, fully enjoying even the idea of Vaughn annoying some 'men in black' type. Jordy playfully gasped at the compliment, miming squaring up with some unknown opponent. "Oh yea, me versus Tyson? Absolutely got that one in the bag, I'll go Black Widow on him." She near broke out into a fit of giggles at the mere idea of it all. Though she wouldn't deny she always had been the scrappy type. "Totally, even managed to get the couch in the back reupholstered. Who knew that thing wasn't supposed to sink to floor when ya sat in it?" Her head swung to look out the window at the sirens, admittedly more intrigued by them than normal what with all the alerts. She scoffed, smirking. "Maybe, though I don't think it's anything to do with curfew yet." She tapped the ever reliable clock on the counter. "We still have an hour, should we go be gawkers and see what's up?"
Tumblr media
"Wouldn't be the first, or the last time." He shrugged, having always been anti-establishment as soon as he could walk and talk. "Yeah, I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of you. You're one of those tiny girls who could take a fully grown bear down if you put your mind to it - I see it in your eyes. I'd bet on you over Mike Tyson any day." He chuckled. "Oh damn, you're living fancy now." He joked just as the blaring siren of two police cars sailed past again. "Jesus Christ, what's going on out there?" His brows furrowed in annoyance. "Think it's something to do with the emergency situation?" His fingertips wiggled in the air mockingly.

Jordy flipped the quarter she'd been spinning, mouth quirking at the results of the toss as she gestured to Vaughn. "Nah I get that. Plus I mean, how can we be sure that this isn't all just some mediocre thing. Or nothing to do with us anyways?" A laugh escaped her at his follow up, grinning. "Now that I'd pay to see actually, you telling that to some government stiff." The blonde scanned the six pack with a resounding beep, it was practically muscle memory at this point when Vaughn came in. "Ah, ya think so?" She playfully flexed her arms, before laughing at her own antics. "Yea I figure I could stick out whatever horrors stay out past the curfew. Boss even fixed the microwave so I'm living good now." Jordy joked.
Tumblr media
With an unceremonious thud, the six-pack of beer landed on the counter and Vaughn shrugged. "Not to sound like one of those people but honestly until I see anyone else up-and-leaving I'm not going anywhere. They're being so damn mysterious about it too. Stay inside after dark. Like okay, you're not my real mother." He shrugged, pulling out his wallet to pay for what was going to be a liquid dinner, just as an ambulance wailed past. "You're a fighty gal. Shutters down. You've got all you need in here. Booze and all."
