Attempting to fix this issue!
The jump animation was supposed to make the player disappear and then reappear but instead plays a different animation when I jump.
I think that UE plays the normal animation from when I made the character which I forgot to change back to this animation from the sprite sheet so instead of this it played the idle/default animation.
Tumblr media
Thankfully I think I know this problem and all I would have to do is change the animation that I imported into UE to this one and then add that to the paper flip book and see if this works.
Tumblr media
Here is the original sprite sheet I made a while back earlier in the project starting from the 'Walk animation, Death, Jump and finally the Idle animation'
I believe that the reason as to why the animation doesn't play at all or plays the wrong animation is because I was meant to put the 3rd frame where the player reappears on the 3rd one across instead of the 2nd one which may be why the animation doesn't work as it could be just playing the character moving instead of moving, disappearing and then reappearing again.
Here is what the animation does from the paper flipbook in UE which is how it looks while playtesting.
Tumblr media
I have now moved the layer over 1 which the space in-between should have nothing there to show that the character will disappear and then reappear.

Problem Solving!
My animations were not playing how I made them in Photoshop in UE as they should be doing the jump animation, and walk animation but they aren't.

Cuphead- Game Screens!
youtube
youtube
These game screens distinguish complexity and discover further more into the cuphead theme and storyline with the artwork being a for nominal piece towards the game as a whole.
In my opinion I really enjoy that the drawings are all unique and I appreciate the time it took to perfect the artwork in such a prestige way. Lastly the game screens display good functionality and preform well within the gameplay such as when you die and the cutscenes.

Dead Cells!
youtube
Dead Cells introduces a very nice risk and reward system that enables the player to take risks for something in return with a interesting HUD design that has an effective art style and relates to the game well.
The HUD tells and shows the player characters health, weapons, collectables, and much more.
This helps create a colourful atmosphere with a spell/magic game genre with a HUD telling the story within itself.

I personally believe the HUD design is unique and really enhances the players experience when in battle also while having a good story to help build the functionality of the game as a whole. Furthermore, the HUD clearly shows everything you need to know and understand for how the game works and how the characters work and showing who the main character is and how this works well when making a role playing game. Lastly I believe that this HUD is effective within showing the basis of the game and has a great role in the experience to enjoy.

Mirrors Edge!
Tumblr media
Mirrors Edge has a nice style and has a Cyberpunk 2077 colour theme and a unique settings menu which will help navigate the player to wherever they need to go to finalize their experience and is very effective compared to other games that are harder to understand and tell what is what and where to look.

Win Screen Removing background! and other additions!
Tumblr media
I chose to remove background and merge the layers together after making a second one and aliening them closely.
After this I added Stroke and made a nice outline colour for the screen.

Persona 5!
Tumblr media
Each part is telling the player how much Health and Special Points each player has and shows this clearly and uniquely so that the player understands the design and why they have gone with this style of artwork.
I really like the bright and vibrant colours mixed with a darker vibe with the characters and creates a mixed atmosphere when experiencing the game for the first time and allows for an enjoyable playthrough. I believe this HUD is effective with their design and works well with the game itself.

Dead Space HUD UI!
Tumblr media
This games HUD helped to player stay focused in the moment and showed things like ammo, health and other resources that allow the game to function correctly for the player to analyze how much of what they have left and how to strategize each component to experience the full game. I believe that the HUD is quite effective within Dead Space as this keeps the game fluctuated and helps the developers get feedback on what the players like and dislike about the HUD's within the game. I think the design fits the game well and serves it's purpose for the player to experience each individual part of the HUD.

Enemy Walk cycle and coding!
I downloaded this PNG Enemy walk cycle file to use for my own level to implement to attack my character as I was interested with this design.
I dragged into Unreal Engine and opened the enemy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I changed the frames to 10 as I didn't want the frames to be too high for my level.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I needed to add a new variable for being able to move right and to change the speed for the enemy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I changed the scale to 0.5 to allow for it to be small enough for my level and wasn't intervening with my other assets.
Tumblr media
I then made collision to overlap all dynamic and put hidden in game so that the sphere isn't seen in game.

I wanted the rotation to be 90 degrees so that the enemy walk walk towards the player.
