"'I have led a toothless life,' he thought. 'A toothless life. I have never bitten into anything. I was waiting. I was reserving myself for later on--and I have just noticed that my teeth have gone. What's to be done?'"

before she died, i wrote a hundred poems detailing how i thought it might feel. i pictured my grief in countless faces. i practiced eulogies and cried after every visit, terrified it would be the last. one day it was, and now i have no eloquency to guide me through it, no pretty words to express the heartache. before she died, i wrote a hundred poems about loss. and now, all i can come up with are three words. i miss her. i miss her. i miss her.
