The Nekomata is described as a cat-like Yokai found in Japanese mythology. The Nekomata is described as a humanoid and sometimes human sized cat that wears clothes and has human hair on its head. There are two types of Nekomats which are the domestic ones and the ones that live in the mountains. There is an account of the ones in the mountains eating people which caused many locals to avoid the mountains in fear of being eaten. Nekomata are also said to have two tails and are blamed for deaths since in Japan cats are associated with death. The domesticated Nekomatas were said to be old pet cats that eventually transformed into a Nekomata and started eating people. It is said that killing a cat can cause seven generations to be Nekomatas. The Nekomata is the inspiration for the very popular Pokémon Espeon the psychic type evolution of the beloved fan favorite Pokémon Eevee.
