❝ We never explore female relationships in our films. You know what I would really like to do? A film that actually explores relationship between women. Women have a lot of layers in their friendships. But I don’t know what our fixation is? Two actresses will only come in a movie when there’s a guy involved…I will make films to change that.❞ — ANUSHKA SHARMA

Yo! I have a question, I'm white and I've seen literally like 100 Bollywood movies lol anyways my question is why are they similar to each other? It's always a guy and a girl in love, why is that? Like every genre ALWAYS have a love story to it. Even the horror ones have a love story. Like the plots are extremely similar, could you please explain? Oh and some are 100% Hollywood copy movies. I'm not hating I love watching Bollywood movies (with English subtitles of course)
If you watch Bollywood movies, and have seen a 100 like you claim and actually understand them you would know that they all actually have different storylines. I have yet to watch a Bollywood movie that is identical to one I’ve already seen ( And I’ve been watching Hindi films since I was 10, I’m 23 now). Yes, a lot of them do have romance as a central aspect, and some do have aspects that are similar to others, however it’s kind of radical to say that all the plots are similar.
Also yes most genres irregardless of what it is have a romance aspect to them however I feel like that is just something the audience enjoys. And as directors, producers you want to make something that will attract mass audiences and make you money, and that in the case of Bollywood is love. People like seeing actors and actresses together on screen sharing chemistry, and dancing. This is what Bollywood is known for.  That’s what makes Bollywood Bollywood.
I’m not sure why you have this question, it’s really just a matter of preference. If you don’t enjoy this aspect of the movies I would suggest sticking to the good ol’ Hollywood cinema, because love and dance is what makes Bollywood different from the typical Westernized cinema and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
