श्लोक महला ५ अम्रित बाणी अमिउ रसु अम्रितु हरि का नाउ ॥ मनि तनि हिरदै सिमरि हरि आठ पहर गुण गाउ ॥ उपदेसु सुणहु तुम गुरसिखहु सचा इहै सुआउ ॥ जनमु पदारथु सफलु होइ मन महि लाइहु भाउ ॥ सूख सहज आनदु घणा प्रभ जपतिआ दुखु जाइ ॥ नानक नामु जपत सुखु ऊपजै दरगह पाईऐ थाउ ॥१॥ यह अमृतमय वाणी अमृत रूपी रस है और हरि का नाम ही अमृत है। अपने मन, तन एवं हृदय में हरि को याद करो और आठ प्रहर उसका ही स्तुतिगान करो। हे गुरु के शिष्यो, तुम उपदेश सुनो, जीवन का यही सच्चा मनोरथ है। मन में श्रद्धा धारण करने से तुम्हारा जन्म सफल हो जाएगा। प्रभु का जाप करने से दुख दूर हो जाता है और मन में सहज सुख एवं बड़ा आनंद प्राप्त होता है। हे नानक ! परमात्मा का नाम जपने से मन में सुख पैदा हो जाता है और सत्य के दरबार में स्थान मिल जाता है॥ १॥ महला ५ नानक नामु धिआईऐ गुरु पूरा मति देइ ॥ भाणै जप तप संजमो भाणै ही कढि लेइ ॥ भाणै जोनि भवाईऐ भाणै बखस करेइ ॥ भाणै दुखु सुखु भोगीऐ भाणै करम करेइ ॥ भाणै मिटी साजि कै भाणै जोति धरेइ ॥ भाणै भोग भोगाइदा भाणै मनहि करेइ ॥ भाणै नरकि सुरगि अउतारे भाणै धरणि परेइ ॥ भाणै ही जिसु भगती लाए नानक विरले हे ॥२॥ हे नानक ! पूर्ण गुरु यही मत देता है कि हरि-नाम का ध्यान करो। ईश्वरेच्छा में ���ी जीव जप, तप एवं संयम करता है और अपनी इच्छा से ही वह जीव को बन्धन-मुक्त कर देता है। ईश्वरेच्छा से ही जीव योनियों में भटकता है और अपनी इच्छा से ही वह कृपा कर देता है। भगवान की रजा से ही दुख-सुख भोगना पड़ता है और उसकी इच्छा से ही हम शुभाशुभ कर्म करते हैं। वह अपनी इच्छा से ही शरीर का निर्माण करके उसमें प्राण डाल देता है। वह अपनी इच्छानुसार ही जीव को भोग विलास करवाता है और अपनी मर्जी से ही उन्हें रोकता भी है। प्रभु की रज़ा से ही जीव नरक-स्वर्ग में जन्म लेता है और ईश्वरेच्छा से ही धरती में उसका जन्म होता है। हे नानक ! ऐसे जीव विरले ही हैं, जिसे प्रभु अपनी इच्छा से भक्ति में लगा देता है। २॥ पउड़ी वडिआई सचे नाम की हउ जीवा सुणि सुणे ॥ पसू परेत अगिआन उधारे इक खणे ॥ दिनसु रैणि तेरा नाउ सदा सद जापीऐ ॥ त्रिसना भुख विकराल नाइ तेरै ध्रापीऐ ॥ रोगु सोगु दुखु वंञै जिसु नाउ मनि वसै ॥ तिसहि परापति लालु जो गुर सबदी रसै ॥ खंड ब्रहमंड बेअंत उधारणहारिआ ॥ तेरी सोभा तुधु सचे मेरे पिआरिआ ॥१२॥ मैं तो सच्चे-नाम की कीर्ति सुन-सुनकर ही जीवन पा रहा हूँ। प्रभु का नाम एक क्षण में ही पशु-प्रेत एवं अज्ञानी जीवों का उद्धार कर देता है। हे परमेश्वर ! दिन-रात सदैव तेरा नाम जपता रहता हूँ, तेरे नाम से तृष्णा की विकराल भूख भी मिट जाती है। जिसके मन में नाम बस जाता है, उसके रोग, शोक एवं दुख दूर हो जाते हैं। जो गुरु-शब्द में आनंद प्राप्त करता है, उसे प्यारा प्रभु प्राप्त होता है। हे उद्धारक ! तेरे खण्ड-ब्रह्माण्ड बेअंत हैं। हे मेरे प्यारे सच्चे प्रभु ! तेरी शोभा तुझे ही भाती है। १२॥ Read the full article

He performs rituals and recites the Vedas, but such practices do not lead to spiritual elevation. Instead, those who rely solely on these rituals end up spiritually dead, entangled in the material world. 2. The Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Rejection of Rituals Guru Granth Sahib Ji goes further to question the efficacy of the Vedas and Shastras in attaining spiritual liberation. Kutumb Jatan Karnang - English Translation Slok ( Kutumb Jatan Karnung Maya... ) O Nanak! This human being knows only how (to strive) to amass wealth and then sustain the family with lot of efforts but is totally (devoid) bereft of the worship of the Lord, who has bestowed everything on him. Such a person, who has forsaken the Lord, is like a (devil) ghost. (1) O Nanak! The real and true love consists in developing the love of the True Master, as all other worldly love and attachment is temporary and does not last long. (2) Pauri: This man's body, after the soul leaves him, is reduced to dust and all the other men declare him as a ghost. English Translation Bilawal ( Janam Maran Ka Bhram Gaya ) By meditating on the Lord, we have got rid of the fear and doubts of the cycle of the births and deaths. We have been united with the Lord even in this life itself as the Guru's teachings have enlightened our mind. (Pause - 1) The sound of the gong is produced from it and then gets mingled with it, or the sound produced by a utensil of brass when it breaks then mingles with it. O Pandit! Gun Gavoh Puran Abinasi, Kaam Krodh Bikh Jaare; English Translation Sorath Mahala- 5th ( Gun Gavoh Puran Abinasi ) I have cast away (burnt) all the poisonous vices like sexual desires and anger by singing the praises of the perfect and ever-existent Lord. We have been enabled to cross this arduous ocean of life successfully in the company of the holy saints. (1) The perfect Guru has cast away all our doubts and dual-mindedness, including the darkness of ignorance. Now we have perceived the Lord (within us) very close by, reciting the Lord's True Name with love and devotion. (Pause) We have satiated in body and mind by partaking in the wealth of True Name. Now we are perceiving the Lord pervading everywhere so there is no need to wander around here and there (in His search). (2) The person, who is imbued with the love of the Lord (in his heart engages himself in worship, penance, and disciplined life of meditation due to the light of the knowledge gained. Finally, it is to satisfy the desire of having a glimpse of the Lord and to get to know the Inner-Knower. ਰਾਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਉਰਝਾਇਓ Punjabi Translation English Translation Hindi Translation Punjabi Translation ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ ॥ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ, ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਧੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਾਬਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਕ ਲਾਲਚੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਏਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਬੇਤਾ (ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੈ ॥ ਇਹੋ ਕੁੱਛ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਫਬਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੇੜੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਨਾਲ ਅਨੰਦ-ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਠਹਿਰਾਉ ॥ ਇਕ ਨਸ਼ਈ, ਨਸ਼ੀਲੀਆਂ ਵਾਸਤੂਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੈ ॥ ਦੁੱਧ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਲਕ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥ ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਧੂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸ਼ਕ ॥ ਇਲਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖੀਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਭ੍ਹ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੀਬਰ ਰੁਚੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਜੇਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਖੁਦਿਆ (ਖਾਹਿਸ਼) ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ (ਖਿੱਚ) ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥ Translation in English Sorath Mahala - 5th ( Rajan Meh Raja Urjhayo... ) The learned persons are immersed in the love of the Lord, just as the king is engrossed in the problems of the kingdom, or the egoistic person is involved in his egoism, and the greedy person is always engrossed in the love of wealth or worldly possessions. (2) The Lord's devotee is immersed in singing the praises of the Lord just as a student is engrossed in his studies and the eyes are satisfied by seeing beauty only or the tongue is in the love of sweet or delicious things. (3) O Nanak! The Lord enables us to satiate our hunger for various things just as the hungry person is keenly interested in food. Similarly, those persons, who are keen to have a glimpse of the Lord, are enabled to unite with the omniscient Lord.
