Hey y'all... AGGRESSIVELY POINTS TO A CHAIR. Sit. Down.

Today I'm talking about why I think it's HEAVILY IMPLIED and canon that Brian was KILLED and was able to leave the ark. KILLED. AS IN, HE DIED.

THERE WILL BE COMIC (issue 3.5) SPOILERS, SO PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Okay, so I saw that a few people weren't into the whole "Brian died and crawled his way back from the ark" thing, and I get it, it's fine, but I'll still talk about it because I can.

So, Issue 3.5 - we see that Brian's face LITERALLY GLOWS.

And it happens more than once in the comic too. He's CORRUPTED. HIS FACE IS CORRUPTED.

But Vero! It can be a stylistic choice! This doesn't mean - WRONG!!!

His face GLOWS in the series as well. You can call it a camera glitch, but we never saw it do THIS. And if it was only the camera, TIM WOULD HAVE SEEN HIS FACE RIGHT HERE. BUT HE DIDN'T. The mask is off, and this is what's UNDER IT.

The missing eye.

This is literally showing us that he DIED from a wound to his eye. We know that there's a bullet casing in his house but no bullet. He was SHOT THROUGH HIS EYE AND DIED.

But Vero! It can just be from losing himself to the ark! Maybe he simply lost it while clawing himself out!

Um, NO??? Do you guys see the smoke, markings and a glitch? Let's compare it to the other two dead characters in the ark, shall we?

Alex and Jay.

Do you guys see the black smoke? The smoke from the wounds that caused their deaths? Exactly. EXAAAAACTLY. Your death wound HAS A SMOKE COMING OUT OF IT.

But Vero, Alex's eyes are also all black later on!

Well yes, but there's a problem.

HIS EYES AREN'T SMOKING. HE HAS THEM BEFORE HE GETS GLITCHED. Brian's eye is PERMANENTLY MISSING.

Alex himself was probably in the ark many times, he lost himself more and more and more but he didn't DIE beforehand.

His face is glitched yes, but again, that only means he's a shell. He has nothing left of himself - he can't form words, he can only screech - WHICH BY THE WAY!!! BRIAN UNDERSTANDS. HE UNDERSTANDS HIS SCREECHING. THEY'RE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME CORRUPTION.

It's said that Brian escaped the ark AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE -

The only reason he's not able to do it again is because he has nothing left to give. He would have found a way again, but there just .. nothing left. He knows where he is, he knows what to do, he knows where to go. He's FAMILIAR with the place. He KNOWS a way out.

Now, WHY do I think Brian dying before his final death is important - IT ADDS TO HIS CHARACTER. His determination. His devotion to help Jay and Tim and also to kill Alex. Him sacrificing himself and his humanity (not being able to talk, not being able to communicate properly but only in codes and riddles) but STILL not being able to kill Alex - not doing that SINGULAR ACT of ending someone's life no matter how much he's suffered because of that person, no matter how much he's lost. THAT'S IMPORTANT TO ME. It says so much about how genuine and kind Brian was, he never had any bad intentions and he never wanted anyone to get hurt.

He's the OPPOSITE OF ALEX. They're two sides of the same coin.

Him dying by his hand once before, hunting him down, watching him kill and hurt people, but still not being able to kill him is so important to me, okay? Him clinging to his LAST PIECE OF HIS HUMANITY.

the emh/darkhavest00 crossover is possibly the funniest slenderverse crossover

it was two minutes of "jumping a car" after the emh guys are going to "look for more people in their situation" and alex (dh) having flagged them down for help with a car the dh00 guys going "why are you filming" and the emh guys going "we just do this" as if dh00 guys also dont just film everything they do.

car randomly starts.

they do a formal full name introduction with hand shakes and then the emh crew walks off calling them weird.

two minutes of an introduction and both groups thinking "god fucking weirdos" completely unaware theyre both jersey guys afflicted by the worst horrors.

Watches as Michael avoids literally everyone from the series a good 80% of the time. Also watches Patrick tell Eric to stay out of his way and threaten to kill him if he doesn't despite being perfect bait. Watches him hug Shaun and check her ears for blood because he's watched her die so many times before. Watches him apologize to Stormy and Shaun multiple times. Watches him refer to Shaun as family in the Princeton Tapes even though ~they're not REALLY siblings~ is some bullshit HABIT pushed in GOODBYE as well

HABIT is full of shit when it comes to any kind of information on other people. Everything he says is to manipulate the situation the way he wants it, using people's insecurities or exaggerating their flaws to- in Shaun's case- try to get her to rat her brother out. It genuinely boggles my mind that the talking points he used specifically to hurt Shaun are still sometimes cited as "canon information" or generally just taken as fully true

HABIT might not be entirely pulling things out of his ass, but it's a heap of mass exaggeration, pulling at insecurities, and complete bullshit, with just a touch of potential truth in there so he can make it seem more plausible than it is. Tiny threads to make Shaun's head spin with 'what if?' So yeah. I just don't think HABIT is trustworthy in any regard lol

Ugh fine, since you all insist (the voices in my head) I'll talk about why I think it was so easy for the operator to target Alex + the people that helped him.

Okay so the first ever appearance or a sign the operator is present is (to me) the very moment Tim sits down in front of the camera during Alex's Marble hornets audition. That's when the camera first glitches. It's not when Tim is wandering around, it's EXACTLY the second he sits down and looks into it.

Again I don't know if anyone ever talked about it but I didn't see anything yet myself, so I just want to say that I think it's because of the cameras - like, the operator gets into the contact with irl people through it and is able to start getting into their heads - making them hallucinate and start getting sick, is that how it spreads? Probably not ! But is that how the sickness starts taking effect? Maybe !!

The operator is always ONLY on camera, and I don't think many people see it outside it. Tim definitely does, Alex does too - I think Amy saw it on the camera and got scared, Jay? I don't know. Jessica? She was also looking through the camera as well, but on the other side of the tunnel - so I think she could have seen him? Idk, it's messy, but what I'm trying to say is that there HAS to be any kind of camera for him to start fucking with people's head.

I don't think Alex was a source, and I don't think two sources together make the sickness active, that wouldn't make much sense to me?

So that's why I think it started to focus on Alex right away - because he's a film student that always has a camera with him, and now he's involved with TIM who is an active source. Very easily spread and very easily reachable.

(this might make no sense cuz I'm a yapper but like, I just don't think Alex was a source and so far that's the only theory I came across.)

So heres that rant I promised a while back!

Of all the characters to come from marble hornets (both the web series and the comics) Alex is arguably the closest a character gets to being a proxy right?

I mean yeah Tim/Masky and Brian/Hoody are the ones running around the woods at night with masks and weapons like a lot of people associate with the proxies (at this point in time at least), but they've always been opposed to the Operator and have never once worked for him. Sure their methods are a lil' whack but what else can you expect from people in their positions? Theres no way Operator Sickness doesn't make you at least a little woozy after five years of having it and Brian literally canonically thinks in code (comics reference woooooo)

Alex on the other hand, while also being opposed to the operator, is the one whose actions tend to work out in the operators favour more often than not. His mentality is that he wants to kill the Operator by "cutting it off from the source", and thus sets out to kill everyone he knows is involved with it as a means of essentially cutting it from its life source without realising that's not how it works.

Like Tim points out, even if that was true theres no way of knowing just how many people are involved, but years of torment from the Operator breaking down his psyche has led him to believe killing all those he knows are involved and are therefor against it will in turn kill it without really realising he's targeting the only other people who are also trying to get rid of it.

Marble Hornets doesn't have proxies, but if any character were to be compared to one my personal vote goes to Alex
