In ACOTAR, Lucien showed his strength and loyalty, playfulness, and kindness while also challenging Feyre. While I agree that just because he is mated to Elain, she deserves to have her choice, I hope they end up together for multiple reasons.

1. I love Azriel and though Elain choosing him might feel amazing at first, I’m afraid it would always keep him guessing if it was really right. And I’d hate that for him. I wouldn’t want him to have to go through a relationship with her, feeling insecure- that they’ll never have the deep connection and love she might find with her mate. He deserves more. To be with either a mate he loves and returns it or at least with someone he loves who loves him back and is not mated with another. He’s already had centuries of wanting a woman not meant for him. I think he will be mated to someone else and I hope he finds in it a passionate love to rival Feyrys.

2. For both Lucien and Elain, if they end up with other people not their mate, they’ll always be tugged to each other and wondering, “what if”. Something will be missing. They’re both wonderful enough that the idea that they wouldn’t be happy in a bonded marriage to each other, just doesn’t seem to fit. I can’t believe they would have a loveless marriage. Nothing has been shown from either of their characters to warrant that, IMO.

3. I’m a sap and I want everyone to find a mate and be madly in love with them.
