no we really have to talk about it. ive always hated that the series tries to make it out that azula has been this irredeemably evil person since childhood and it has never made sense with what is shown. yes, she was antagonistic to zuko, she was growing up in the same abusive environment that zuko was, her mechanism for survival was being better than zuko/tossing him under the bus, which is bad. but it also ignores the stuff she did, with no prompting, that shows she cared for zuko in her own way. she woke zuko up to say goodbye to their mom when she was banished, she helped track down the gang together a couple times, most importantly, she let zuko have the avatar kill win, allowing him to be allowed back home and gain the "love" of their father. she had the same spark of kindness that zuko did, it just manifested differently.

but despite showing us these moments with her, the series (in show and the later follow comics) tries so hard to make her out to be a crazy monster who would never change or stop trying to mess with zuko. and i think it really comes down to this thing the creators have against her where she has to always be the villain to make zuko seem like he chose right and she chose wrong for "siding" with their father. (which doesn't even make sense).

its also so weird they harp on it given the fact that no attempts are ever made in the series to give azula the same help zuko did. there's specifically this one scene where zuko is talking to iroh about maybe helping azula and iroh just goes "yea, no she's crazy!" and it never sat right with me because like.... nobody tried with her lol. iroh spent all his time trying to get through to zuko and never tried to ever help azula and yet... (this goes into how i hate iroh so thats an entirely separate rant)

I've long had a general distaste for reducing Azula to "Zuko's crazy sister. " Doubly so now that every post-series story has doubled down on it.

Having a psychotic break is not a death sentence, but good grief do some people salivate for that idea to be true. Azula had a psychotic break for very understandable reasons. She'd been betrayed by everyone she loved, especially her brother, who she'd stuck her neck out for to bring him home. And she has the realization that her father didn't love her anymore than he loved Zuko.

All this amidst a war effort that was falling apart.

People crack under pressure. People have psychotic breaks all the time, then go back to living normal lives, even if they haven't treated the conditions that brought on the event.

And everything we saw of Azula through out the entire series before the finale is of someone with high mental fortitude and discipline, especially in the face of danger. She was not 'crazy all along' or a 'ticking time bomb'.

In fact, she's the only one who suffers permanent consequences over it. Let's not forget that when Zuko did his one good thing and released Appa, he immediately got violently ill from the cognitive dissonance. Aang literally has a sleep deprivation induced psychotic break right before the Day of Black Sun, and it just gets played for laughs.

ive been saying this for awhile, but the only reason they got big is because they got pushed as the girl version of BTS/another large kpop group and people say they like them just to not seem xenophobic/uncultured for not liking kpop. them and BTS also kinda ruined kpop too cause now their generation of groups are being pushed by companies trying to copy the same thing and its just filled the genre with really bad knock offs of already bad groups. which is really sad because they were/are groups that were good and people could like but its easier to just say you like the one or two songs by them everyone’s pushed to say you like kpop instead of actually exploring the genre and the potential groups now gotta release shitty version 78.2 of another group because the company said so
