My brother is diagnosed autistic. I asked him what the numbers 2 and 7 have in common.

He said they're both numbers.

That is the correct answer.

My answer to this question when I first heard it? That they both have straight lines that form angles less than 90 degrees. And then I learned the purpose of the question.

I think it's about time I get assessed.

The scariest part of how this country is going is when it finally reaches you.

My family (me, my brother, mom, and dad) used to thrive just fine on my dad's salary.

Now, they (my mom, dad, and brother) are struggling. They have to be very tight with money.

Prices on everything are going up, and we live in Texas. This is one of the best states to be in because things are relatively cheaper here. Gas is cheaper. Certain groceries are cheaper. Rent for a 2-bedroom apartment can be as low as $700.

And yet, they're struggling.

And to make matters worse, they just got a yellow notice from the IRS. The IRS fucked up on their end and they are ignoring my father's attempts to make them fix it. It almost feels like they're fucking up on purpose.

And now I'm stressed because the people I care about are going to be on the streets...

And I don't know what to do about it. I don't think anyone would if they were in this situation.

Knowing my family is not the only one suffering this way angers me. It shows just how much our government has fucked up.

I'm this close to giving up...

Look, just... Listen for a second, okay? Just fucking listen. When a host is asking you "How many?" when you walk in through the door, they are not asking to know how many menus you need. They are asking so that they know how big of a table to put you at. Today, I was working a host shift, and when I asked how many people were in her party, she said 6. My coworker put 6 into the system. I take them to their table. It's a 6-top table. The following convo ensued: Lady: That's not gonna be big enough. Me: You said it was only 6, right? Lady: Yes, but we also have 2 babies. Me: Oh! So it's 8. My apologies. Lady: Yes, but only 6 of us are eating. Me, fuming at this point, speaking as politely as I can because I've already dealt with enough bullshitery: Alright. Just for future reference, we need to know the total amount just so we can know how big of a table to put your party at. Lady: Ohh! Okay. Sorry about that. Like.... Is this just not common knowledge?
