“Excuse me...” Nate hated how mousy he sounded. He was a Ranger now, darn it! Clearing his throat, he spoke up again. “Excuse me..”
A little louder to be heard over the common commotion that came with running a Zord bay. Most folks who were given clearance to be in the more secret parts of Grid Battleforce had to wear identification saying so. With the blond’s back to Nate, he was unable to tell who she was or why she was here. Only that she was here, in the Zord bay.
Granted, he was 80% sure they weren't a threat, not by simply standing there and staring at the grind ahead. “This is a restricted access area.”

“It wasn’t untested-I tested it on Green. Though granted, he had to hold back a bit. But I suppose you had a point. It’s just that I was so excited about it and thought it would actually work.”
“You can help us find something that will make them more durable,” Green said. “It’s a matter of matching durability with lightness and a variety of other factors…anyway, Billie has the formula.”
Nate was pretty sure his facial expression gave him away. Now an odd mix of curiosity and cringe. He wasn’t the person to say told you so, but his brain was thinking it. Loudly. “Roxy wouldn’t hold back like Green would. Not even close.” It was as close as he would come to actually saying it. “Lets not take that risk anymore. Or, ever.”
Nate went silent for a moment, biting his lip. “Have you thought about looking in the scrap area on the basement floor? There's plenty of old zord scraps down there. Might be just the material you’re looking for.”

“There is? Oops.” Billie had the grace to blush. “I was trying to test out my latest pair of impact resistant gloves-I wanted to see if they would punch through extremely dense surfaces you see and-well, Roxy destroyed them in the last attack. I worked hard on those!”
“She’s been improving that for a long time,” Green said. “It’ll be fine, I’ll help you build a better one.”
“You took an untested weapon into battle..? That’s pretty reckless, even for you.” Nate tried to hide the disappointment in his voice. But the current realization made it hard. “Granted, broken equipment is a risk we all take. Untested or not. Still...there are plenty of places to test it here. If you are going to repair them.”
Nate shook his head at Green’s comment, amused. “I think she wants to keep the ones shes already worked on though. Anything I can help with?”

The yelling could be heard from just about anywhere. “Why does everything have to be about destruction? Why can’t we just build things and let them go when they’ve lived their life?”
“Billie, it’s a thing, not a person. You can make another one.”
“That’s not the point! Everyone destroys my things! I worked hard on those things!”
“So destroy the people that destroyed your things.” It was that simple for Green, really.
“NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT DESTRUCTION!”
“Of course it is. Human beings are most destructive creatures in the universe. You think psycho rangers are bad, just look at your history.”
“Green for fuck’s sake!” Billie threw up her hands, went into a nearby room, and slammed the door.
“Please, scream profanities. There isn’t an elementary school tour around the corner or anything.” Nate didn’t even look up from his current project. Though his tone came off as harsh sarcasm, he meant every word as a joke to ease the tension. Not that it was any of his business, but he still offered a soft smile to the raging woman.
“So, what do we need to repair? And why do we need to repair it?”

@silxagxld
“Thanks,” she said. “Personally, I’m just glad to be around more people that understand what I’m talking about. I adore my friends, but when I ramble on about an invention and the inner workings, it’s nice to talk to someone whose eyes won’t twitch or glaze over.”
“I have experience in fighting evil things,” she went on. “It kind of comes as second nature for me to want to help. Besides-” She paused as a crashing noise was heard behind her. “I hope that wasn’t Green,” she murmured. “Green found out about the whole thing and actually got excited. He doesn’t usually get excited about things like this, and wanted to get involved. You’ll probably meet him soon enough.”
“Experience?” Nate asked, his head tilting to the side. “What kind of -”
The question was cut off by the crashing sounds echoing dangerously close to his workshop. Flashbacks of Ben and Betty’s schemes ran through his mind. “No, it probably was our head security team being..themselves.” Nate glanced from side to side, trying to figure out an explanation. Until she spoke again. “Green?”

“I gotta say - “ Nate paused a second and closed the folder he was skimming. The following breeze pushed his bangs aside. “With your credentials, you’re more than qualified to be a member of our research department. Which is great - we need all the help we can get. Considering the increase in Evox’s threats and -”
the fact he was going to the front lines. sort of.
“ - But I have to ask. You’re almost overqualified. Why Grid Force, exactly?”
