HOLLY: i don't ever really see him.

FIONA: i'm glad to see the fact that i would be there completely outweighs the fact that he would be there for you.

FIONA: he's not really that bad to live with??? surprisingly. he's got total himbo energy but he's nice.

HOLLY J: did i really need to even say it?

HOLLY J: ugh fiona that is the WORST type of guy

HOLLY J: but i suppose i could handle it

HOLLY J: do you think he would be up for it? i don't really know him that well.

Parties weren’t Hunter’s scene. In fact, any place consisting of more than a very select few people was at the very least revolting to Hunter. Yet there he was, propelling himself into the deep end by attending a college party where nothing good could possibly arise. The only thing that made him even consider the idea much less follow through was knowing that there would be a plethora of alcohol, and after just a few days of college, he knew he could use just that. Still, even with a couple of drinks already in his system, he was scrounging for a place that at least would give him the illusion of some peace and quiet. And just when he thought he found that, someone was ruining his short lived moment of tranquillity by accusing him of the same exact thing. “All of the other corners are occupied by people who don’t have the decency to get a fucking room,” he explained through a sharp tone. With that, he took another sip of his newly filled red solo cup.

that was an...interesting response, but not unwarranted. “fair enough.” holly j raised her brows, then joined her newfound company in sipping on her drink. after that, she let it fall silent  (apart from the party thumping around them). when it became glaringly apparent that neither one of them were going to scatter, she figured it wouldn’t hurt to strike up conversation. turning on her side to lean against the wall, she asked, “so who dragged you here? you seem like you’re having a worse time than i am...” holly j glanced down at her cup, “and i’m basically sober.”

⠀⠀ ❛ the one and only. ❜ a wide grinned forming after so quickly being noticed. ❛ what about you ? do you have a name or should i just stick to fiery red head ? ❜ drew asked with curiosity laced in his voice. he had a sneaking suspicion of who she was , especially with an attitude so heavy like hers but he wasn ‘ t one to just assume things. he wanted to hear her just confirm before allowing anything to spew out of his mouth. ❛ i - so people talk about my jawline huh? good to know. ❜  classic drew , always looking at the bright side or at least in this case looking past the insult and deciding to look at the only thing that could boost up his ego. drew once again shrugged his shoulders before raising his hands and up admitting defeat. he might not know a lot things , but he knows when to not push things. ❛ i actually was coming over to be a gentleman and keep you company , but hey if you want to have a pity party for one be my guest. just know that i ‘ m probably going to be the soberest guest you ‘ re gonna get. hope you have enough ammunition in your arsenal to fend off drunk frat boys.  ❜

“holly j.” she smugly revealed her identity, allowing drew’s basic redhead line to slide. while the banter was welcomed, holly j simultaneously refused to let drew get an even bigger head, “yeah, some people, but that’s not what most talk about...” she baited him by not elaborating. she wasn’t sure what quippy, layered, insult she might dole out, but it would come to her in time. “a gentleman.” holly j echoed, now that made her laugh. “sure.” she was at a crossroads, tolerate drew or go back to burning holes in the wall by staring? shockingly, she chose the former. “you want to keep me company? is that it?” holly j didn’t buy that in the slightest, but even an argument would be more fun than her depressing loitering.

“Well, I wouldn’t say it’s really important to me either,” he stressed, his head tilting to the side with an easy-going grin as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jeans, “but it’s definitely better than staying on the sidelines all the time. No offense.” 

He shrugged, “well duh,” he laughed, “you’re drinking the worst beer in this house and standing here stiff as a board. You have to make your own fun at these things.” He paused, glancing around her and into the kitchen, “I’m down on the roster for beer pong or flip cup or… something,” he chucked, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m supposed to partner with Drew but I’m sure he wouldn’t notice if I carried you for a few games.” He teased. “But only if you want to. I can leave you to merging into the wallpaper or whatever it is you were doing over here if you’d rather I stopped talking and went away.”

as adam explained his perspective to partying, holly j masked her smile by taking a sip of her drink, then offering him a meager, “hm. i suppose.” she liked how methodical he made it seem. it was almost scientific. it made sense to her. she didn’t consider herself to be a ‘sidelines’ type of girl, but maybe she was when it came to the partying scene. she could be the ring leader in other facets of her life. 

although, surrendering control and succumbing to having a bad time was beginning to sound more and more foolish. holly j smiled at adam again, this time not going through the effort of appearing stoic. “oh, i don’t let anybody carry me. i’ll help you win, fair and square.” she clarified, “but sure, that sounds fun.” she looked at him thoughtfully, “you’re...cool.” maybe it was the fuzziness bubbling to the tippy-top of her head, but she was beginning to think that this night would turn out well. daring to laugh at herself, she made her position clear,  “don’t go, you have some teaching to do.”

a smile slowly appeared on heather’s face as she watched the other individual walk away. she redirected her attention to the person in front of her who swooped in at the right time.  “thanks for the help, my next option was possibly throwing this towards them. ” she joked, lifting her drink up to take a quick sip. it probably would have made the situation worse but heather wasn’t one to be messed with. “have you ever considered improv? you were pretty quick with it.”

“throwing drinks on strangers...” holly j looked her older sister up and down, then sighed, “really classy, heather.” the younger was bound to be judgmental, but she had a special type of bite reserved for heather. of course, it hadn’t always been this way, but the state of their relationship had reached a tipping point. now it was...this. to be honest, holly j was surprised to even hear a thank you for intervening. that was better left alone. “improv?” holly j almost spit out her own drink, “yeah right. i’d rather partake in a hobby that’s beneficial.”

⠀⠀  drew torres was looking for college. not because of the raging college parties like he was at now , or the women he was bound to meet. this was a beginning of a new chapter for him. he wanted to make a new name for himself and leave drew torres behind. like at said party. he had been to a few these in the past , but this one was different. he wasn’t a freshmen any more and although he was still considered low on the totem pole , it was at least something. with drink in hand his eyes scoured the crowd , swaying back and forth to the beat of the music. his eyes finally landing on a particular red head. she obvious wasn ‘ t having a good time and drew felt as if it was his personal responsibility to change that. so after chugging down his beverage and shaking his rust off , he made his throughout the crowd and stopping once he was in front of her ; a smirk plastered on her face. ❛ drew torres could never leave a pretty girl all alone at a party. ❜ okay so that may have sounded a lot less creepy in his head and he probably should have thought about what exactly to say before approaching holly , but being the impulsive guy her  he never really thought about things before rushing into them. he didn ‘ t allow the awkwardness to set before speaking up again, his shoulders giving her a light shrug.  ❛ nothing , just wanted to come over and hi but by the looks of it you are too busy have a blast. ❜

���drew torres.” holly j clicked her tongue in understanding, “if you really can’t leave a girl alone maybe that’s the problem.” she informed him, scrunching up her nose. after all the stories she’d heard about drew torres and now seeing him up close, she wasn’t particularly attracted to anything about him. he was interesting in a kind of...specimen way, but nothing beyond that. that being said, there was no resentment either. the attention felt nice, even if the form of it was kind of gross, so for now she’d play into it while she could draw the ‘drunk’ card to justify her behavior. looking up from the rim of her cup, she disregarded drew’s comments about being too busy for fun and instead notified him, “your jaw is not nearly as chiseled as everyone says it is. huh.” holly j took another drink, then tilted her head to the side, “looks like you’re not busy enough if you’re standing here talking to me, not so popular with the college crowd i see?”
