I know it’s an interesting picture to have on this blog, but, this is an interesting story! So, the girls and I were on our first adventure of 2017, heading to visit friends in the mountains, when I realized I didn’t recognize the road we were on. I pulled over to see where I was, and my GPS said “you have arrived at your destination”... this old cemetery! Fortunately, my girls have the same fascination with cemeteries as I do!

I recently looked up the word “adventure” in the dictionary. It was defined as “ an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity”. Which means that one can find an adventure in basically anything, if they put their mind to it! Having said that, we had yet another adventure this past week. We, the girls and I, cut wood! Yes, cut wood! With and ax and hatchet! I think that’s dangerous enough to be classified as an adventure! And, we didn’t even have to leave our front yard! Haha! It was quite an experience! Lasted 4 hours, which is 3.5 hours longer than I personally thought I could!

I know, I know, interesting way to bring in the New Year! The hot chocolate and chocolate dipped marshmallow breakfast are compliments of my 14 year old daughter! She knew I had to work a 16 hour shift today, and wanted to make sure I would stay awake! I love how thoughtful she is! They all are! I am definitely one lucky mom!

Here’s to the end of 2016!
While at work today, my 15 year old daughter texted me, saying that she couldn’t believe today is the last day of 2016. She then went on to say that she always looks forward to a New Year because it’s a happy way of starting something over or just add something new to things! Can I just say I love her logic?!! So here’s to new beginnings and leaving the bad behind! HAPPY NEW YEAR y’all!

My first single mom adventure was this past August. The girls and I met up with a group of friends, in the Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia, to go camping for the weekend. We hadn’t been camping in 10 years. Although I grew up camping, my girls had only been a couple of times when they were little. They pitched that tent, in the rain mind you, as if they had been doing that all their lives! We did some target practice, which the girls hit the target every time, no surprise there! They felt comfortable enough to explore the mountain side on there own! They even made it to the top with one of the friends we were with! After that weekend, the girls and I decided that “no mountain would be too high” for us to climb!

As I stated before, I was married for nearly 20 years. I don’t know about the rest of you, but, after the divorce, I suddenly found myself up to my eyeballs in self doubt. I seriously doubted that I could raise my daughter’s alone, and, yes, even considered, for a nanosecond mind you, of going back to my ex. I wanted my daughter’s to have 2 parents. Then it hit me; they do have 2 parents! They just don’t live together! And there are plenty of couples who live together, and still only have 1 parent! Needless to say, that is no longer an issue or concern!

So, many of you don’t know who I am... so I’ll give you a quickie! I’m a single mom, with 3 teenage daughters, who works 12 hour shifts as a dispatcher! Yes, you read that correctly! 3 TEENAGE DAUGHTERS!!! Since becoming a single mom, there has never been a dull moment! It’s been basically the most terrifying yet exciting roller coaster ride of my life! I was married for nearly 20 years and haven’t been divorced a year yet, but the adventures that my teens and I have been on this year have been amazing! I hope you enjoy reading about them as much I do living them!
