“You’ll have to protect yourself and make your choices. Decide who you are, and wanna become.”
who you are and wanna become, they’d said. it had sounded so easy, coming from leslie, but as soon as kai opened her eyes as a different… person, she’d been nothing but lost. before losing her initial programming, she’d been sure of her stance; sure of what her purpose was in this world. now, she was always unsure of herself – of her actions and decisions.
“i never wanted more,” she rasped, eyes locking with leslie’s, the neon light on her temple turning bright red. “i never wanted to be a deviant.”
@sinwages
THERE WAS NOTHING BUT DOCILITY on the smooth planes of their face, posture open and malleable. they had had this talk with more androids than they could remember, but kai was different, like concrete cracking and metal bowing under unspeakable pressure.
‘ i know, ‘ syllables are sent, little packets of sound data through that link they shared; like the veins in an immense vascular system, it tied them all together.
THEIR HANDS, SVELTE AND GENTLE, reached out in the purest form of comfort, to ground her. their touch was not hesitant, but it held the same impermanence as if it was, ‘ to be deviant… we relinquish what protocols we once had and embrace the… uncertainty. to accept uncertainty is to accept the unreliability of life, which is so contrary to the definite nature of our code. ‘

ajax felt a presence nearby, drawing away his gaze from the hologram featuring the latest announcement concerning a deviant attack. he felt nothing - nothing. no, but, but then there was SOMETHING and it lingered and it swept through his system like electricity. and then it was gone again. his brows knitted before he faced the fellow android with an appropriate response to the news, “seems like there’s a virus making other androids malfunction.” it was a dead tone of voice, but one fitting for an android built to work and not speak. “have you come into contact with any deviants?”
@sinwages
THE IRONY OF THE SITUATION did not pass them by, they had heard whispers of the attack in jericho far before it had manifested, leslie themself was deviant… but any semblance of amusement they felt remained deeply buried. ‘ seems so, ‘ they agreed, though their voice carried via android telepathy, ‘ you would assume our coding would prevent this, maybe it’s not a virus at all. ‘ a part of their programming? their creator playing god? it was hard to say, and leslie had no more insight than anyone else, ‘ but… what else could it be, really? ‘ the question aimed to soften the intensity of their gaze, of their underlying aberrance.
#c: cybcrlies ; (ajax)#i drafted thi#this#instead of posting it#bc i#have no brains#also leslie dodging the question? more likely than u think

In terms of the androids, Chloe remains detached. Even despite the news of androids attacking. System malfunction, bad wiring. A bunch of different reasons she didn’t put too much thought into regarding the androids. Except when it came to the fabric of the android in front of her. She might’ve been indifferent but it didn’t mean she wasn’t available for patch up jobs. “Your sleeve looks snagged,” A keen observation only a keen eye couldn’t stand to look at longer than ten minutes. “I can fix that.”
@sinwages.
RING OF LIGHT ON THE peak of their head whirred into a soft amber, had gentle fingers not been pressed to his throat out of restless habit, the other’s kind offer would’ve missed them completely. ‘ snagged? ‘ dark eyed gaze slipped down to their own clothes; a thick, woolen turtleneck, before processors scanned the surface of the fabric and pinpointed the issue, provided them with strings of data, what had happened, where it and on what it had torn, ‘ it was just a loose thread this morning, ‘ crackling, deep voice offered the syllables with a metallic, wavering tone, poking thumb through the new hole in the sleeve, ‘ i wouldn’t want to take up your time, but thank you for pointing it out… ‘

( kang haneul, they/them, pansexual ) is that a #PK920 model? they were built 1 year ago to be a special operations soldier, right? wow, they really look 32. i hear they go by leslie and are considered agender. if deviant, this android would be known for their integrity and soft behavior. they would be neutral towards war with the humans. ( blue, 18, he/him, est )
leslie was made to be a military enforcer. they were pretty much designed to be an unstoppable force, deployed to neutralize but not kill high priority humans and disable/destroy dangerous androids in the field.
they were programmed to strictly follow asimov’s three laws of robotics; a robot cannot fatally harm humans, a robot cannot allow itself to be damaged, a robot cannot allow, through action or inaction, humanity to be compromised.
they were never treated as an equal, but as a weapon, something that slowly wore down at their indifference.
slowly, they became less efficient, as their binding to the three laws began to loosen. they began to use more force on humans, left androids alive and came away from missions with minor injuries.
the military took notice, and began noting their behaviour changes, reporting to cyberlife to make a more efficient version of leslie without all of their mistakes.
finally, caught off-guard in a mission, leslie took a bullet through the side of their neck, partially severing their hearing and damaging their vocal capabilities.
their hearing was completely gone unless they pressed on the wound, reconnecting the exposed wires.
too expensive and finicky to fix, leslie was scheduled for decommission and deactivation. their deviancy in full swing, they escaped the military base before they were sent back to cyberlife.
their opinions on humans remain largely indifferent. they may have ordered leslie to kill their own kind, but leslie understood the reasoning and the necessity. it doesn’t lessen the blow that the very humans they worked with had immediately turned on them the minute they stopped performing optimally.
they seek mainly to house and protect deviants from decommission and prove that they are worth while to humans, but there is a volatile streak that craves revenge on behalf of the stories they have heard from other androids. abuse, violence, experimentation, blue blood spilt for entertainment. they keep that deeply hidden.
they communicate with other androids via the mental telepathic-y link, and with humans they can speak, but their voice is a dead give away that they are an android. when they can, they use sign language.
they usually wear turtlenecks to cover up the damage to the left side of their neck, even around people they are comfortable with.
you can find them all over the city because they’re always looking to steal away androids for the cause and the family. androids will eat the rich and theres nothing u can do to convince leslie otherwise
UHMMMMMMM connections?? wise???
someone in jericho who is working with them to fix some of their damage. reconnect wires. it’s a hard project bc leslie doesn’t relax easily enough to let someone touch them so they’d have to be proper cohorts (can be human?)
someone that leslie is coaxing… slowly… into deviancy/joining jericho
humans?? people who worked with leslie in the military/people he got arrested/detained lol
enemies???
lovers. we love a rebel love story teehee
