little!nat headcanons

-> boyre, tboy he/him nat, cg!lottie, pre and post crash teen tl, some allusions to past parental abuse

★ Nat is a boy when he’s regressed! Super uncomfortable with feminine nicknames like sweetheart/princess/sweetie (in no small part because that was what his dad would call him) and prefers to be called things like bug, buddy, or sweet boy (if he’s being sweet, which is not always). Likes to play outside and roughhouse, loves dinosaurs and cars, and refuses to wear anything other than a big sweater or t-shirt and shorts. Does have a soft spot for puppies and flowers and the color pink but would NEVER admit it :p

★ He’s usually about 3 or 4, but he sometimes slips younger when he feels either really comfortable (like when he’s with Lottie in bed) or really upset (like after he has a particularly bad nightmare). Sometimes he feels bad for being littler than most of the other yj littles but Lot, who is even smaller when regressed, is quick to reassure him that it’s okay to be tiny!!

★ When he’s not with Van (who makes him crazy) he is sooo sleepy. Just a sleepy little dude! He loves naptime and stories and having a sippy cup of milk before bed. His favorite place pre-crash to take naps is Lottie’s big bed in front of her sunny window in midday…he will curl up with her and snooze while she plays with his hair and does her homework. Post crash, when it’s warm out, he likes to take his naps in the shade of a tree or in a big field. Still on Lottie’s lap, of course.

★ He is SO clingy. He tries to play it off but even when he’s not little he’s a huge cuddlebug. He loves to be held the most, but he also loves holding hands or pinkies with somebody and getting picked up. (Lottie is the only one who can carry him, and she can’t take him very far, but he giggles so much and melts into her every time she does.) Total mama’s boy, always clinging on to her or at least holding the hem or arm of her shirt.

★ Sometimes he lashes out when he’s little, especially post-crash. He’s not always very good at listening to directions, he doesn’t always realize when he’s small and his feelings start to feel way too big for him, and sometimes he just feels like he needs to throw a fit. Lottie would never punish him for it, though, even when he’s cursing and throwing things, because they understand that he just needs to be reassured and held until he feels better. She’ll always open her arms, sit next to him, and quietly talk him down, inevitably ending with him crying his eyes out in her arms and frantically trying to apologize. It’s a really heartbreaking sight. After his meltdowns, he’s extra sensitive, and usually spends some time just crying into Lottie’s neck while she rubs his back. “It’s okay, bubba, I could never be mad at you, shh…”

★ He has a wolf plushie, the one and only possession he kept from childhood, named Ginger. She goes everywhere with him when he’s little, tucking her under one arm while he runs around, or holding her tight in both arms during nap time. Ginger even eats with him (he hands her little bits of his food and then eats them for her). He doesn’t let anyone touch Ginger, except for sometimes Lottie when she’s small and he’s big, so she really could use a bath. Nat loves her just the same.

(Side note: plushies are one of my spintrests and I spent a really really long time looking for 1980s wolf plushies for the header pics. Ginger is a Dakin 11” Wolf plush, produced ~1970-1980! I like to imagine she was a collective birthday present from Van and Nat’s other childhood friends when Nat was in his wolf phase. ★ When he wants to be, he’s a little rascal. He’s great at pranks: only little ones, like hiding Lottie’s keys or putting his dinosaurs in places where she’ll find them and get startled. He falls over giggling every time. He also loves to cheekily refuse things; “Bud, do you wanna have some dinner?” “NO! That’s YUCKY!” but before she knows it he’s grabbing food off her plate and eating it with a big grin. Lottie loves humoring him and pretending to be APPALLED (never upset, though, he couldn’t handle that).

★ He’s really shy about it, but after a long time having Lottie as his carer, he worked up the courage to ask her if she would be willing to bathe him sometime, and discovered how insanely comfortable it made him. He loves his baths so much :( Even when he’s not dirty, he likes to have a bath before bedtime, because it makes him feel super safe and loved. Lottie has a big tub, bubbles, floaty toys (dinosaurs, and some letter blocks for when he’s feeling really little), and she’s always so, so gentle with him, washing his hair and tipping his head back to keep soap out of his eyes… In the wilderness, she sometimes gives him baths in the giant tub they have (don’t..don’t think about it too hard) and it’s still perfect, even without all the toys and even the soap. Sometimes he gets extra sleepy and falls asleep in the tub, having to be gently woken up to get into bed. “Come on, little love, let’s get you in your nice and cozy blankies...”

★ He doesn’t feel comfortable having a lot of people know about his regression. He’s very skittish and more of a one-caregiver type of little. He doesn’t mind having Tai take care of him and Van together, though, and he LOVES when Lottie’s there to be a mama to Tai’s babysitter sort of role. The only other one who knows is Misty (she walked in once) but he adamantly refuses to let her anywhere near him while he’s little. Frankly, if he didn’t know so many of her secrets, he’d worry she would snitch. Lottie is more than okay with being his primary and more or less only cg! It works both ways, too — she doesn’t caregive for other littles, and when she’s little, she basically only hangs out with Nat.

shoutout to the age regressors that aren’t ‘little’. tweens i see you. teens i see you. young adults i see you. all big kids, i see you. your regression is just as valid as anyone else’s.

regressors with ‘scary’ theriotypes, i see you. wolves, tigers, lions, bears, coyotes— all of you. you are important. your experiences matter so much.

regressors that get mean when they regress, because it is a trauma response, you’re seen. you deserve kindness and gentle hands when you’re 3 and want to color, and also when you’re 8 and have growing pains, and also when you’re 12 and are starting to see yourself and form an identity and needing an adult more than ever to guide you and help your insecurities. to aid you and show you the right path.

regressors that were always torn down for showing emotions when they were younger so now you’re stuck at 10 and all you can do is cry and scream, beg for a hug and then pull away because of how scared you are.

regressors that feel like they’ll always be 13, scared, hurt, betrayed in their heart. waiting for someone to heal the inner child’s wound, because you feel like you can’t, because you’re still just 13 yourself.

TENTH DOCTOR REGRESSOR HEADCANONS 💫 (disclaimer these are... a lot of me projecting because i find him to be similar to me in many ways, but it's more fun that way!!) . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. Allons-y! ⋆｡˚ ☁︎ ˚｡⋆｡˚☽˚｡⋆ 🚀 I like to think despite the fact that he's regressed, he can easily fly the TARDIS, he just prefers not to because he knows he might blank out and forget to finish landing or something ⭐ He has a lot of trouble getting into his headspace out of embarrassment. He would really enjoy regressing more, but he tends to talk himself out of it a lot. He needs a lot of reassurance from his companion. 🚀 He loves to be asked questions. Any kind, he just loves being able to answer and feel smart. ⭐ He loves stuffed animals, but he'll try acting all smarty pants when his caregiver will ask about them like they're alive. Or anything about Santa being real.

🚀 He doesn't really know what his "little age" is since he's a 904 year old timelord but in human years it would be somewhere around 2-6 depending on his mood. ⭐ He needs to be chewing or sucking on something. He loves pacifiers and chewy toys. He'll probably try putting just about anything in his mouth for fun. 🚀 He's very snuggly, but he especially loves having his head scratched or pet. Anything to do with his hair will get him calm. He has a very hard time being ready for bedtime. He just wants to talk and play, but it's easy to tame him once you know his fondness for head scratchies. ⭐ Very very puppy-like, not in a pet regression sort of way. He loves a big field of grass to run around in. Rolling down hills is the best. 🚀 Oh and swing sets too, he would play on the swings for hours if he could. ⭐ And regression does NOT turn of his smart tech brain, if you ask him a question about the TARDIS or really anything sciency that gets him blabbering on normally, he will still answer completely truthfully. Just in a more baby-ish way. 🚀 Very picky eater. He will tell you it's yucky and refuse. ⭐ He loves sippy cups with patterns and colors. Especially ones with stars on them, but he'll complain about them being inaccurate.

🚀 He likes vanilla milk and banana milk but he HATES normal milk. ⭐ Regression makes him a lot more sensitive to pain and tears, so he cries a lot more. He doesn't throw tantrums, mostly small sobs. 🚀 He can't be alone, he needs someone there to keep him company and give him lots of attention. ⭐ He loves to repeat silly words, they don't even have to make sense in the situation. Funny sounds and words are very fun for him. He's very noisy. ⋆｡˚ ☁︎ ˚｡⋆｡˚☽˚｡⋆ aaand that's my list for now! if this is something that people like or if i come up with more i'll definitely make a part two. and if i get more comfortable in my fanfiction writing skills, maybe i'll even make an ao3 to post tenth doctor regression fics on. i really like tenth doctor if you couldn't tell...
