The dog breed of the day is the Rottweiler
The Rottweiler is yet another working dog with a bad reputation stemming from miss-understandings. In 18th century Germany they were employed to herd cattle until they were used in the military. They were among the first breeds to work on the battlefields. Due to their history in the military, they have become a well known guard dog with an unpredictable nature in new situations. Rottweilers require close attention and knowledgeable owners. Their household and training play a large part of their personalities. Rottweilers walk a fine line between protectiveness and aggressiveness. If they aren't carefully bred for a calm, intelligent temperament and properly socialized and trained, they can become overly protective. Standing at 27 inches tall and weighing anywhere betweneen 80-130 pounds this large dog has one of the shorter life spans from 8 to 10 years.
Pros: protective, hardworking, loyal, energetic
Cons: aggressive, large, over-protective, health issues

The dog breed of the day is German Shepherds. This breed comes to us from Germany. They were originally known as Alsatian Wolf Dog, but the name was changed after WW1  to German Shepherd. They were originally bred to be herding dogs; however because of their strength, intelligence, trainability, and obedience they have become so much more than just herding dogs, now they work for disability assistance, search-and-rescue, police, and military. German Shepherds are considered a medium to large breed they stand at 24-26in and weigh at least 66-88lb. German Shepherds have what is known as a double coat. which means they have a top coat and an undercoat and all this does is help them stay warm in the cold and cool in the heat. Pros: energetic, eye turner, good working dogs, good guard dogs, smart Cons: shed a lot, health problems, lot of energy, need room to play, aggressive, and they can be destructive.
