a snippet of the apartment chapter of tommy's romcom coma dream fic, a dream i can call my own

Picking up the mug of coffee from the nightstand, Karen took a sniff. Scrunching up her nose, Karen handed Evan the coffee with a disgusted hum, “Is this really the coffee you have Buck?”

Grabbing the mug, Evan looked at her perplexed, sniffing the coffee, “Uh yeah.”

“No, no, no. This won't do,” Karen shook her head, “Go to my apartment, in the cupboard there is some coffee in there. Make some with that, ok?”

Evan nodded, leaving the bedroom with the mug in hand.

Karen somberly sat on the bed by Tommy’s side, the smile she wore just seconds ago disappeared, replaced with a stern sorrowful look. 

“Karen,” Tommy started, “You don’t need to do this, I don't even like coff-”

“Tommy, you need to listen to me,” Karen leaned in close, gently placing her hand on top of Tommy’s, “You need to wake up.” 

“I… I-I don’t understand…”

Beep.

“Tommy, please wake up,” Karen sighed, “You need to wake up. Buck needs you to wake up.”

Beep.

“Buck has lost too much already, he cannot lose you too.”

Beep.

“I’ve seen how he looks at you Tommy, you are his everything. You need to wake up. So, please. Please wake up Tommy. Buck needs you.”

A dull pain buzzed deep inside Tommy, his gut twisted violently, a fog grew in his head making him lightheaded and dizzy. Tommy rubbed his aching eyes, pressing his fingers against the bridge of his nose. “Karen, what do you mean?”

Two of my nephews are coming here tomorrow and they're going to stay here for who knows how long bc my brother and his wife (who both disowned me when they found out I was trans and then yesterday completely acted like that didn't happen and I'm not trans) are having major marital problems and both working so their two older kids have been staying by themselves and so we're gonna take care of the for now on. Also we have very little money rn so we're all just super stressed about everything atm

Plus tomorrow I have therapy AND THEN right after that I have a phone interview.

So PLEASE send all the good vibes that we can get through all this and wish me luck that I get this job to help us out bc it's all riding on me rn
