4 years ago I lost a friend. I understand why you tattooed yourself so much during your final days. Sometimes when I dig that ink into my skin I feel this connection to you. All the memories flood in and I can remember your smile. One of us still has your photo as his lockscreen and one of my tattoos is dedicated to you. Those little derpy tattoos you did on my knees are my favorites and the start of a trend for my tattoos; all my tattoos are black and grey except for the people who tattoo me whom I love and care for, you started that. These deep red little lines mean so much more to me then I know how to say in words, so I just say it's a souvenir from my friend before they went. 4 years without being able to visit. 4 years without seeing your new artwork. 4 years without hearing you tell me about your experiences or ask me for a critique.

4 years later I'm struggling yet again with my will and want to go on. I'll never know what you meant by saying only I would understand, maybe I'll ask you about it one day. I wish they arrested your abuser. Maybe you wish they would have arrested mine, maybe not. All this time later when I see the reminder of your passing it forces me to see outside of myself, how it felt getting that phone call. Holding people close and our friend group finding a new kind of quiet, that pain. I don't want to cause that, so I guess I won't. I love you frond, just know so many people loved you and continue to love you.
