Sirius still hadn’t caught up with every single person yet, it had been a busy couple of weeks...mostly busy with drinking and having actual sleep, but it had prevented him from checking in with others he was close to. “Yeah I know.” He said, a smile spreading onto his lips. Seeing Georgie with a glass of red in her hand was like seeing her in her natural habitat, and he was honestly just glad to set eyes on her. “I came by to check in with you, if thats alright.” He said somewhat sarcastically, but the playful glint in his eyes showed he was only teasing.
Taking the steps from the fireplace to where Georgie was sitting, he was more able to make out her facial expression, and his own brow furrowed, the smile leaving his features. “Are you okay?”
Another night, another bottle of wine. It had been a rough few days for her. It seemed as in one signature, her whole life had been turned upside down. Her betrothed was fine, good really. But she had one now. The fact that she had one was enough to cause her to grab the glass and take a big sip. It was much easier to think about when she had a few glasses in her. She heard the floo as she poured the end of the bottle into her glass. Her eyes watched carefully as someone stepped out.
“Sirius!” A smile was on her face as she waved from her spot on the couch. “Cissa isn’t here, I’m afraid. It’s just little old me.” She took another large sip, sighing softly. She needed another bottle. It was still much too early for her to go to bed and being alone with her thoughts was a terrible thing. “I can tell her you stopped by.”

“I don’t know....” Sirius said slowly, “...hadn’t really though that far ahead yet...” It was odd to be feeling almost optimistic again, he had spent the best part of a month absolutely convinced that anyone in positions of power would give up on him, lock him up, and throw away the key. It was just getting back to where he was before mentally that was the last challenge. Sure, his overall mood had definitely been upped, thanks to the boys and his cousins. But actually thinking about the future didn’t seem to be as easy as it was before. “.. tell you what though, I could absolutely murder some sugar quills... my treat?”
@sirius-blaxx
“so now that you’re back what’s next for you? what do you want to do now that you’re a free man?” she raises an eyebrow, and takes a lick of her ice cream, which if they were being honest, was too cold for but it had been a tradition with sirius for years now and she wasn’t going to break it just because it was a little cold out.

peterparlak:
peter was sentimental, he loved his friends too much, and he wouldn’t be ashamed for it. he knew that the love was there and reciprocated they had just shown it in their own ways, merlin knows that his friends had gone through more than they should have all the while they were living in a war that no one knew what to do about, never mind the politics happening in the muggle world that peter still lived in and couldn’t ignore. “sure, mate, sure.” he squeezes him a little tighter, one extra one for all the weeks they had lost. “you don’t deserve his love,” peter says with a smile shaking his head. “i bet you missed your bed though. and maybe us. just maybe.”
Sirius probably wouldn’t ever tell his friends how much he loved them, at least not out loud. But he knew that they knew how much he cared, actions always spoke louder to him anyway and his friends had all seen him at his lowest points in life and never judged him. That was all he had ever wanted from anyone, to be there for him without judgment. A real tragedy, which Sirius had learnt far too early in life was that, it was apparently alot to ask of the universe for some cruel reason. So, Sirius never, not even for a single second ever took his friends for granted. Exhaling slightly as Peter finally loosened his grip around him. “He doesn’t deserve mine.” Sirius stated with a glint in his eyes. An easy laugh fell from his lips and he sighed, though it wasn’t exasperation, it was relief. “Oh Pete....words can’t express how much I have missed my bed....” He trailed off and gave his friend a jovial nudge. “...You guys?....” Making a slight face as he shrugged. “...Ehh I guess so, just a little.”

his mood changed just like the moon - waxing and waning as remus continues to play with his food and that much was evident when peter speaks . remus’ eyes do wander up towards sirius , a curt nod pulling his head down as if of course they were glad to have their best friend back . but that changes quickly as the attention is seemingly brought back towards him ; a sigh bellowing from his mouth before he even speaks . ❝ must we really focus on that ? ❞ he asks , already knowing the answer to his question seeing that the other three had always seemed more eager to sacrifice their livelihood than remus was . there were certainly a couple of days left and remus was always prepared to brave it alone . ❝ no one’s managed to capture padfoot - not even the ministry themselves - ❞ that earns a sly grin . ❝ we should be celebrating that tonight . ❞
Sirius far preferred his friends way of dealing with trauma, he was more than happy to not talk about it and focus on something else entirely. He was slowly getting back to normal, though he had made peace with the fact that the entire event of being in hiding, losing his brother again, and being almost sent to Azkaban had changed him, it would be stupid to say or think it hadn’t. To Remus’s first comment, Sirius nodded his head, and offered a half shrug, with the raising of a single shoulder, “I would argue it’s the most pressing matter right now.” Sirius stated, a grin etching onto his lips. Leaning back in the chair he was sat in, he exhaled. “Nah, you lot wouldn’t get rid of me that easily.” That comment evoked a nearly subconscious wink from Sirius. “I think what’s really suprising is that Prongs hasn’t said anything even slightly obnoxious yet, now that is something to celebrate.”

“Don’t make me laugh, Pete. You’d miss me too much.” Sirius said teasingly, before nudging his friend lightly. After meeting with his cousins, he was glad of the far more light hearted nature of his friends, he knew they were probably just as concerned, but they didn’t wear the worry on their faces in the same way. He had opened his mouth to add another cheeky comment, but before he could, Peter had him wrapped in a hug. “Ahh you totally missed me.” He said through a slight chuckle. “Do you know that freaky feline furball tries to spoon me? Can’t say i missed that.”
@sirius-blaxx
“mate, you are so lucky i didn’t let your room to just anyone,” peter says, though james probably wouldn’t ever let him, nor peter himself, ever let anyone have the room that rightfully belonged to sirius in their flat. “happy to have you back home, but you did give us a bit of a fright.” he wraps his arms around his best friend anyway regardless of what had happened, he was just happy that sirius was back with them regardless. “peaches missed you most, certainly not either of us.”

Sirius had really only just fully came round from the night before, he should have learnt by now not to day drink with Mckinnon. As the alcohol slowly left his system, his real feelings about everything were starting to resurface once again. Yes, he was free and yes he had been fully acquitted, but he had no idea where his brother was.... he was also pretty sure that the already irreversible damage done to whatever relationship he had left with his parents was now absolutely decimated for good. It had just been alot for him over the past few months.
He had decided to take a walk around, to get some fresh air, he didn’t really have a destination in mind. Only several minutes into it, he already felt eyes on him from all directions, yeah there was also that to add to his already overflowing conscious. Taking a break against the wall of Honeydukes, Sirius pulled out a smoke from behind his ear when he heard a more than familiar voice call out his name.

As soon as Sirius’s eyes settled on his best friends face, there was a slight wave of relief that washed over him. Just days ago, Sirius had been convinced that he wouldn’t see his friends again and honestly, he still didn’t quite believe that he would. A chuckle left Sirius’s lips and he shook his head, “They only let you in because your with me.” He said teasingly, before giving him a nudge in the ribs. “They were sad to see me go, but you know.... busy guy, me.”
@sirius-blaxx
“Bloody hell, they’ll let just anyone in here nowadays,” James teases as he gets up from the table he’s been saving, a slow smile spreading across his features at the sight of his long-absent best friend. “Finally had enough of you at the Wizengamot, have they?”

In a way, Sirius had been avoiding his cousins, not because he didn’t want to see them but because he really wasn’t sure that he could cope with the worry he just knew he would see swimming in their eyes. Sirius could lie to most people, pretend that he was absolutely fine to almost everyone, but he never even tried it with his family. It had churned his stomach as he stood outside of Med’a house, the last time he had been over was the night before he had been captured. Sometimes Sirius couldn’t help but wonder if his family would have far less pain in their lives if he wasn’t around.
“I’m sorry...” He finally said, sounding slightly defeated. He bowed his head for a moment and exhaled. Yes, he had been freed, but part of his soul and those around him were still serving a sentence of worry and fear. Raising his head slowly, as he managed to lock eyes with his cousin, knowing that there was now sandess swimming in his own eyes, “I have to live though.... “ Trailing off, he cleared his throat and paused before adding, “...and anyway, whats life without a bit of risk?”

andromeda’s flat | @sirius-blaxx
❝ i was worried sick about you, ya know ? ❞ andromeda didn’t mean to start chiding sirius right off the bat, but it’d been weeks since she’d seen his face. in person and not on old wanted posters, that is. and while the ache in her gut lessened with sirius’ freedom, it still lingered heavy for regulus and whatever else was to come. andromeda passed her cousin a mug of freshly steeped tea as she wrapped her arms around her knees on the couch in her living room. ❝ and you may be free, but a lot of people didn’t want you to be. i just … hope you’re being careful. ❞

mckmarl:
Her current living space wasn’t nearly as near Hogsmeade as she’d like, and yet any excuse to be in the vicinity was worthwhile. In the recent days, closer to Hogwarts felt safer than in her single-occupancy spot alone for the times she wasn’t at work. “Darling, I honestly think you should say you were missing me.” A sly grin grew across her lips, entertained eyes darting between Madame Rosmerta bar-tending and the familiar lad across the stools. The image felt familiar. But most of the chaotic joy she felt was in that things could maybe finally be better now. They felt infinitely better in seeing Sirius not lurking in dark corners or behind bars.
Without much hesitation, she slid herself across the way until quite literally knocking shoulders with him, forcibly but friendly. The action emitted a bright laugh she desperately missed even hearing from herself. “And you’re not nearly as scraggly as I was expecting you to be. Always needed your beauty sleep, Black.” It felt fine to make jokes now, comments on things that would have sent her stomach reeling just days ago. “ N o w what do you think will happen if we mix up a pepper up potion with a firewhiskey?”
Sirius hadn’t managed to catch up with one of his favourite partners in crime since being released from the Ministry’s clutches. In fact he still hadn’t seen any of the boys yet, but Marlene was probably better because she usually didn’t want to know the harder things to hear, which suited Sirius because he really didn’t want to talk about it all just now. Pickling his brain with whiskey and making less than sensible choices was far more his area anyway. There was a mischievous glint in his eyes as Marls spoke, and he nudged her back. He knew from expereince not to envelop her in a tight hug.
“Rugged, messy and mysterious is kind of my look actually.” Running a hand through his hair, almost as if to further his point. Sirius was happy to joke around for as long as his friends would let him, before one of them was likely to pull him aside and tell him to slow down. Tilting his head to one side at Marls question, his brows furrowed and he hit the bar with his fist. “I duno, but would you like to find out?”

g-parkinson:
There had been a sense of relief when the verdict had been read. She hadn’t been in the courtroom. She wasn’t sure if her support would hurt or harm, though she spent most of the day with her ear to the ground. She had purposely spend most of the day in the Ministry, finding some excuse or another to be around. Permits to be filed. Turning in new research. Checking on old contracts. Anything honestly. The whispers went around the floors quickly, causing Georgie to almost cry in public. She hadn’t done that since her mother’s funeral. Luckily, she was able to get home before the tears really fell.
After work the next day, she managed to find herself at the Three Broomsticks. She always preferred it to the Leaky. The memories were better. They were of a time before everything went to hell. It was easier to forget what was happening around her when surrounded with memories. She was sipping her firewhisky when she heard someone taping the bar. When she realized who it was, a massive smile crossed her face. “Of course I have,” she said, jumping up to hug Sirius. She was all but certain she was not who he was planning to see but she couldn’t help herself. “I wanted to owl you but I wasn’t sure where to send it. And I didn’t want to disturb what I hope was a good nights sleep.”
At the moment, Sirius knew that he was probably being reckless, he hadn’t checked in at the ministry since being released. But honestly, he couldn’t care less, what had they really even done for him so far? Mostly, he had been drinking for the few days he had been free, and catching up with people. He had just been given a playful slap by the one and only, Rosemerta when he heard someone talk next to him. Recognising the voice instantly, his smile grew on his face and he immediately threw his arms around Georgie.
“It’s so good to see you!” He said excitedly. To her next remark, Sirius’s smile faltered ever so slightly, and he shook his head. “They wouldn’t have let me read it anyway, Georgie....” Lowering his voice slightly as he continued, “...Treated me like a bloody terrorist or something.” Shaking his head again, he took a healthy swig of the whiskey that Merta had poured him. “How are you anyway? Not like to you to be free at this time.”

curzebreaker:
Edgar had known before the news broke that Sirius would be cleared of all charges – had known, really, since Dumbledore had decided to make his bid for Sirius’s freedom, though it had never been expressed in so many words. It was simple – Dumbledore’s word was about as powerful as any spell had the capability of being, the old man was considered by too many to be the most powerful wizard of the age, half the wizarding population acted like he was the second coming of Christ for the outcome to be anything less. (Of course, Edgar couldn’t deny that he held a tremendous amount of respect for the man, though he thought the man must be as fucking mental as the other side says for turning down every opportunity to become Minister of Magic.)
The Three Broomsticks thrummed with conversation, drinks flowing and gossip about the younger Black circulating the room. Edgar felt, more than heard, the atmosphere shift when Sirius entered, barely looking up from his glass of Firewhiskey at the table by the bar. “Not even a little,” Edgar spoke flatly in answer to Sirius’s question, biting back the urge to smirk just a tad as he moved to lean against the bartop. “But I’m fucking buying.”
Sirius had gone from one extreme to another emotion wise. and he was on a sort of high at the moment. It definitely was not going to last, but for now at least, he planned on enjoying both the high and his freedom. He had left the courtroom ready to fight anyone who pissed him off, or questioned his innocence, he had already shouted back at an older couple in Diagon Alley who had called something out to him. He had been speaking to Rosemerta, when his ears pricked up, as he turned, Sirius was ready to have yet another argument, he didn’t really take in what was said, it was more the tone that bothered him, though as he faced the older wizard, he recognised him as Amelia’s brother. She had been one of those who wanted to acquit Sirius, he still had to thank her.
“I was talking to the lovely Merta over here, but I’ll never pass up a drink.”
