I'm going to put aside my cool and aloof facade for a moment... Because I'm freaking stoked! My book Misanthropes of the Divine Spirit is published and is available right now on amazon[dot]com. I am beyond ecstatic. Finally, I am a published author.

All my life reading books and sucking up words like fuel to the fire, all I've ever wanted was to put down my own words on paper and to have them bound in a way that I could share them with others, like this.

Soon the paperbacks and hardcovers will be ready and I will be able to share them with you as well. Below is a link for the Kindle version which is only $2.99 to own it. I only get like 84 cents of that so support me if you can. If you have Kindle Unlimited it is free for you to read it but just know that that is fine, as well, because every page you read I still get some kind of commission from that program. So even that will support me so it is much appreciated if you take a look at the book. It is mostly poetry but there is a short story at the end that I am very proud of. I'm supposed to have access to refer people to some kind of discounts at times when I get access to that I will be posting some of those.

With this post I'm happy to announce, that finally after many years of procrastination I have finally decided to self-publish a collection of poems that have been two decades in the making. The collection will be available in a couple of days and I will update everyone on where they can find it. I have posted many of my pieces throughout the years on social media, and some of you may even be part of my group Borrow the Indifference where some of my poetry lives on Facebook, but this collection represents the final versions of these writings and have significant rewrites. I'm very excited to finally be able to release these in a book form. The collection which is called "Misanthropes of the Divine Spirit: Poems of Defiance, Verses for the Lost Causes, and the Love that Remains", Will be available in paperback, hardcover, and on Kindle.

And as it relates to where I'm self-publishing. I would just like to make a quick statement about that. Part of the reason that I waited so long to get these published is because it is not always easy like it was decades ago to have a publisher find your work and take the chance to write you a check for an advance on your work and trusting that you are going to recoup that and more. It just seems like it doesn't work that way anymore unless you're a well-known author already. Like other gig work it seems that authors have been pushed into self-publishing more and more to prove themselves as a consequence of the so-called free market. Although a lot of my writing is critical of capitalism, the symptoms and effects on human beings in that system, this is still the system that we have to participate in to survive. It's not as if everyone has the luxury to ignore the system if they don't like it. Is glaringly obvious that I am no fan of billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. With that being said Amazon is a platform that has made it exceedingly easy for an author with no money to pay out of pocket for publishing to be published on their platform. It is almost an unfortunate choice that becomes the only choice for someone like me. So I have decided to publish with Amazon KDP, which is Kindle Direct Publishing. This will allow me to publish without any upfront money to the Kindle, paperback, and hardcover right away and only have publishing and printing cost taken out of my royalties. Another great option that is included if you search use is that they make your books available to bookstores and libraries to be able to purchase from other wholesalers. I don't know that the royalty system is a fair system, being that I would receive only a couple of bucks out of each sale, but as they say beggars can't be choosers, and this system certainly likes to make beggars of us all. It affords them more control over our lives. I don't want to seem ungrateful as I don't think I would be able to publish my work any other way and I hope that one day with this move that I may be able to get some recognition for my work and that I will be able to publish with someone that is more aligned with my beliefs.
