3rd day of term

We started off today by considering the responsibilities required of a mentor and mentee. Working in a team really helped to consider different aspects of the relationship that I may not have realised before. The task made me realise that a lot of responsibilities are either shared of have a reciprocal one such as motivator and motivated. Then we moved on to considering the process of planning a mentorship and how it should be programmed depending on the nature of the mentoring. We looked at SMART goal setting to ensure the goals set are effective and helpful. We also considered the type of records that should be kept, how they should be kept and how they should be used. All of this has better put in order my own thoughts towards mentoring and I’m sure will make me a better and more organised mentor

First 2 days of Third Term

SO the first 2 days of 3rd term are done! So far the experience has been a really positive one with lots of interesting stuff learned. I found out I was slightly more of a democratic leader than an authoritarian one which was nice! The different models for leading, mentoring, feedback and listening have been really interesting and helped me reflect and think back on my style. Its been great being in a class and hearing the different ideas everyone has about mentoring and the advantages and disadvantages of different styles. So far so good!
