Listen, I know everyone's fan casting Henry Cavill and other beefy dudes for Maxwell, but have we considered that one of Maxwell's defining characteristics is his TONE? Insufferable but lovable? i’m never not thinking about this. as max is growing throughout this season and becoming more comfortable with adventuring, he stays rowdy! in fact i would argue he gets more rowdy! and the wind riders think he is incredible! this whole conflict he is having where his true joy in life is freedom and adventure, but he isn’t yet ready to fully embrace it. Max has never not been proud of himself for being a rowdy, but he is clearly clinging to the society he was raised in, because it is all he knows. even though he doesn’t fit within the walls of his society, and that is something that he proclaims proudly, he still clings to it.

kind of obsessed with rowdy as a euphemism for queer in cloudward ho. you're rowdy. you're too loud. you cause trouble. you make me uncomfortable. you're not being how i want you to be. you go places and you do things that i don't think are proper. you don't live how i think you should live. and you're so in my face about it. you're one of those..... rowdies. like come ON that's so good.

It's knowing that Maxwell has only ever fit in at Revington. That he is too adventurous to fit with his family but too posh to fit with the wind riders. "Olethra are you a wind rider?" No hesitation yes. "Maxwell do you believe in adventure?" Hesitation and a "Theoretically." He likes being at Revington because there's rules but it isn't nailed to the ground. He is too primed for high society but too unprepared for it at the same time.

I have a wild theory about pappy, he's a automaton/robot and I do have reasons

1) Mayra and van didn't even start to question if comfrey could build a robot person when discussing if olethra was a robot

2) at the South Pole pappy ate a bit of coal and something about how zac said it stuck out to me

3) pappy when ever stressed resorts to some version of "I'm dead"

4) comfrey 'asked' him to look after olethra and he dedicated his entire being to it
