ive always been fascinated between the difference between the, like, meta of neopets and the actual "lore". like esp early on it seems people were more into the concept of neopets being actual pets a la pokemon and human characters were more commonly depicted in fanart. and then the game's story started leaning towards more anthropomorphic neopians & basically redacting anything that suggested the existence of humans in neopia so you have this weird sort of divide where neopets are only really "pets" in terms of gameplay. not to say that i think that's bad it's just fascinating to me
