Crime News, August 10th, 2019: Would-be mass shooter opens fire on people inside mosque, but is quickly tackled before anyone is killed.
At 4 PM, Central European Summer Time, the suspected gunman, 21-year-old Philip Manshaus (left), opened fire on people inside the Al-Noor Islamic Centre in Baerum, Akershus County, Norway. Manshaus was armed with two shotguns and a handgun, as well as wearing combat gear and a helmet during the attack. He broke through a glass door and shot and injured one person (who is in an unknown condition) before being tackled and subdued by a member of the congregation until the police arrived. Norwegian police do not believe anyone else was involved in the attack.
A bomb disposal unit has been deployed to an address in Baerum, where the perpetrator is believed to have lived. Speaking at 7:30 PM local time, police confirmed the suspect has no criminal record and that he is a native Norwegian local to the area of the mosque. The attack took place during the Eid Al Adha holiday, a sacred period of time which celebrates the end of Muslims pilgrimages to Mecca. Although the mosque took extra security measures after the massacre in Christchurch in March of this year, they had received no direct threats to their building in particular.
An online post has surfaced which was supposedly made by the shooter before the attack - police have confirmed they are aware of this and are investigating. In it, the author writes: “It’s my time, I was elected by Saint Tarrant [in reference to the Christchurch mosque shooter]”. They then went on to write: “We can’t let this go on, you gotta bump the race war thread irl”, then urged anyone reading the post to carry out their own attack. He ended the post by saying: “It’s been fun, valhall venter [Valhalla awaits in English]”.

I might start using newTumbl more than Tumblr now. This place is really becoming depressing to me the more and more I use it.

“Had to run along in the middle of the firefight and pick up the mags that fell out pretty much fucking instantly, there wasn’t even a chance to aim due to so many targets and there was so many people that the car park was full so there’s no real chance to get through that”

Brenton Tarrant’s become an exalted figure for ideologically driven mass murderers mere months since he gunned down 51 people at two separate mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on March 15, 2019.
Four days later, a 19-year-old from San Diego, California sent a text message to an unidentified recipient that included a link with the description, “Archived thread from 8/pol/ that Brenton Tarrant posted before he went guns blazing. None of the links work anymore obv so don’t try. Of course the day he posts is the one day I don’t go on /pol/. I could’ve seen it live damnit,” referring to the live-stream he broadcast on Facebook of his first attack. In the same message, John Earnest shared another link to Tarrant’s manifesto entitled “The Great Replacement,” adding, “I’ve only read a little but so far he’s spot on with everything.” Over the next couple days, he sent the same link to two additional people, one with the message, “They’re banning people for sharing it on social media and arresting those who post it in NZ. I think it’s important that everyone should read it.” On March 24th, he set fire to the Dar-ul-Arqam Mosque and Islamic Center in Escondido in Tarrant’s honor, spray-painting “For Brenton Tarrant -t. /pol/” in the parking lot. Earnest then spent the next month preparing his own attack. He purchased tactical gear online from Amazon, and the final piece was a Smith & Wesson M&P15 rifle he bought for $963.41 at a store called San Diego Guns. The next day, April 27th, he killed one person and injured three others at the Chabad of Poway synagogue before surrendering to police. “An open letter” manifesto surfaced online in which he admitted, “Tarrant was a catalyst for me personally. He showed me that it could be done. And that it needed to be done.”
The latest incident was perpetrated by 21-year-old Patrick Crusius, who drove approximately 600 miles from his hometown to El Paso, Texas on August 3, 2019. He was reportedly “lost in the neighborhood” and stopped at a Walmart because he was hungry. There, after first casing the store for Mexican targets, he shot to death 22 people and then surrendered to police. In “The Inconvenient Truth,” a four-page manifesto he posted to 8chan, the opening line reads, “In general, I support the Christchurch shooter and his manifesto.”

For months, George Hennard routinely bought breakfast six mornings a week at the Leon Heights convenience store located around the block from his home in Belton, Texas. Often her first customer of the day, owner Mary Mead recalled the 35-year-old “never smiled when he came in here. He just seemed like he had the world on his shoulders.”
On October 16, 1991, Hennard made his daily stop at around 5:30 a.m. and purchased orange juice, a sausage-and-biscuit sandwich, a candy bar, a pack of Old Fashioned Dunkers doughnuts, and a newspaper. Mead observed a difference in him, that “he seemed almost calm, a little friendly, for the only time I can remember.”
Seven hours later, he killed 23 people at Luby’s Cafeteria and committed suicide in what was then the deadliest shooting in United States history.

On August 1st, 1966, Charles Whitman climbed to the observation deck atop the Main Building tower at the University of Texas at Austin and opened fire at people on the surrounding campus and streets. He shot and killed 16 people (including an unborn child) and he injured 31 others; a final victim died in 2001, 35 years later, from the lingering effects of his wounds. The 96-minute killing spree ended when Whitman was shot dead. The attack was the deadliest mass shooting by a lone gunman in U.S. history until it was surpassed 18 years later by the San Ysidro McDonald's massacre.

As a very young child, Anton Lundin Pettersson avoided eye contact. When he was 4 years old, he got a pair of sunglasses which he wore all the time, even indoors. He was developmentally delayed in speech, had a noticeably stiff walk, was kind and quiet, but evidenced an explosive temper if things did not go according to his will.

Crime News, July 29th, 2019: Multiple casualties after gunman opens fire on food festival in Gilroy, California.
At least three people were shot dead and 15 injured by a gunman who opened fire on people at the northern end of the Northern California Gilroy Garlic Festival yesterday evening, firing approximately 30 shots. The shooter opened fire at 5:41 PM, but was only shooting for less than a minute before police returned fire and killed him. It is believed the gunman managed to bypass metal detectors that had been placed at the entrances to the festival by moving through a creek and using “some kind of tool” to cut through a wire fence that surrounded the festival.
There were reports of a second shooter, but this has yet to be confirmed and such reports are common in active shooter events, although police are still investigating such a possibility. Witnesses say the gunman was wearing combat gear similar to that which a police officer, SWAT team member or soldier might wear, as well as a greyish coloured handkerchief around his neck. Witnesses have also stated that the attacker began to “spray rounds” into the crowds of people present. One of the three deceased victims has been identified as Steven Romero, a six-year-old child.
When the attack began, the band Tin Man were performing on stage. The singer, Jack van Breen, said he heard someone ask the shooter: “Why are you doing this?”, and that he heard the shooter reply: “Because I’m really angry!”. Upon seeing police officers, the shooter fired upon them with what was believed to have been a semi-automatic rifle. Prior to this, they had fired in a strafing left-to-right/right-to-left motion towards any group of people they could see. Witnesses have described the gunman as a white male in his 30′s. The ATF are assisting local police in their investigations.
