In an ideal world, we would had a mini-series with these two going together on an adventure.

Given how the Knuckles series has been like, along with IDW and I gotta wonder... who ever thought it was a good idea to NOT focus on the game characters?

What I find just as depressing, is the people who defend this approach as much as the ones who gaslight anyone voicing concern over this situation.

Why can't there be something I can look forward where the characters from the games, who I care for and enjoy, be the actual focus instead of being either reduced in importance or simply not be there at all in favor of characters who are far from being as interesting as the game ones.

Imagine if other franchises like say, TMNT, where handled in a similar manner.

And even if the 3rd Sonic movie were to introduce a character like Amy, there is the part where I fear they'll handle her similar to Peach in the Mario movie: turned into a generic action girl that feels like a different character because positive discrimination, yay!

This is a pretty disingenuous take that instead of trying to understand why there are Amy fans not happy with the direction being taken under western writers, simply pulls a strawman to make them "appear" like they don't know what they want, which is false.

The problem is that western writers want to go for an outdated formula were boys are dumb and the sole girl in the group is the "sane" one who hates fun.

The exception is curiously the April's Fools game were Sonic is killed, which I will say did a much better job in handling Amy's characterization than Frontiers.

I like Amy being a silly, bubbly, energic, and fun-loving girl who is not afraid to do things that are no less dumb fun than what the boys do. I like her being outspoken, sassy and even aggressive because she is supposed to be a very sincere character who doesn't hold up nor supresses her strong emotions. Nor do I mind her comming off as bratty rrom time to time since she's supposed to be a kid who knows what she wants and won't accept anything less.

Likewise, I don't get this fandom fixation with the concept of "maturity". Making Amy "mature" won't automatically make her a better character... especially when the current execution of that concept seems to consist in taking away personality traits and quirks...

If anything, I think the things that need improvement are aspects outside of Amy's character. Things that limit her potential, such as being underestimated for being a girly girl because some executive thinks Little Timmy shouldn't be playing as a pink girl out of a stupid fear it might make kids effeminate, or leaving her out, despite being a main character, simply because she's not "marketable enough", despite the character being pretty popular.

Or how about the way Sonic acts towards Amy. Personally, I think lots of the times Sonic is the real culprit since fans will rather side with the protagonist, and pin all the blame solely on Amy, fofgetting that it takes two to Tango.

Amy rose fans be like: “I miss when Amy was a violent psycho who assaulted her friends for the slightest thing, now she’s mature and reasonable. Sega ruined her!”

They’re the only fans who want their character to regress

Don't really know where else to rant about this so I'm sorry.

But I'm just so done with IDW, like I can't stand it anymore! I just hate seeing what all the characters I loved back in the day have become! And how they all almost feel sidelined at times for the "new" OC characters to take the spotlight...

Heck, I don't even like interacting with most Sonic fans nowadays just because how everyone just wants everyone to be so UwU...

What happened... Sonic used to be cool... The characters, inspiring and entering... Now everything is so mushy and soft... Heck even the games in the last 10 years have absorbed so much of this... Almost to the point that I wish we did a Mario and keep them all mute...

Sonic used to have one mandate back in the day. And that was to be cool.

Sorry for the rant... It just sucks being a long time sonic fan...

Well you know what to do, just show your displeasure by not opening your wallet. Personally, staff antics annoy me almost as much as the comic itself.
