Homework, No More!
House Bill No. 3611 filed by House Deputy Speaker Evelina Escudero and Quezon City Representatives Alfred Vargas propose the removing of homework as a requirement from Kinder to Grade 12 student including weekend homework for all elemetary and high school student.
In Senate House, Senator Grace Poe filed Senate bill 966 or "No Homework Law", the proposed bill stated all primary and secondary schools in the country shall not allow teachers to give any network or assignments to students from Kinder to Grade 12 on weekends both public and private school.
This proposed bill that filed in House and Senate about terminating of homework aiming to help the student on balancing between their academic development, person growth, and having more spending time in family and friends.
However, The Department of Education Secretary Briones support this bill despite on some group of teacher like The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) and Teachers Dignity Coalition disagree on this proposal, their statement "Homework is part of nurturing of discipline and responsibility to student for learning development. Also, K to 12 Program demands for teachers on their Performance Evaluation System".
