headcanon -- zanks &. crew!
All about Lucas’ NPC family, friends, & love interests :)
the family!
JACKIE MARIE LAZANSKI
b. April 6, 1965, adoptive mother An elementary school teacher, Jackie Lazanski is Lucas’ adoptive mother. She married real-estate tycoon Frank Lazanski in 1991, and he passed away in the summer of 1996. She adopted Lucas shortly thereafter. The adoption was finalized October 1997. She hasn’t remarried, but is currently dating local high school principal Luis Garcia. Jackie is kind, nurturing, strong, and good-humored. Lucas thinks she’s the most wonderful human being on the planet. When he’s not on schedules, he flies back to LA to be with his family.
AVA JANE MCNAMARA
b. November 3, 1986, adoptive sister
Ava is a nuclear engineer who was born to Frank and Jackie before their marriage. She graduated from the University of Michigan. As the eldest child, she tends to baby Mia and Lucas. It was a running joke among Lucas’ friends that Lucas had a “hot, smart sister,” and consequently, it was eventually through Ava’s social media posts that Sophie Coram-Connell found out about Zoey. She is married to lawyer Joseph McNamara. Ava is caring, level-headed, dependable, relaxed, and wholesome. Lucas is incredibly close to Ava and looks up to her. She often helped him with his math homework in high school, and she attends Prism concerts whenever she can. Ava currently lives in San Francisco, California, and enjoys meeting up with her brother and sister as much as she can.
AMELIA “MIA” GRACE LAZANSKI
b. June 18, 1991, adoptive sister
Mia is a neurosurgeon who graduated from Harvard Medical School. She is Jackie’s middle child. She went to high school at the same time as her brother, so she tended to chauffeur Lucas and his friends around, which she often (jokingly) bemoaned. Mia was also close to Zoey, and was a senior while Lucas dated her junior year. Mia has been dating fellow neurosurgeon Thomas Baines for nine years, and has a four-year-old son, Lucas Lazanski-Baines, with him. Mia is likable, humorous, energetic, friendly, and ambitious.
Lucas is as close to Mia as he is to Ava, if not a little bit closer, as he attended high school with her and matches her closer in personality. Ava currently lives in Queens, New York, and occasionally splits her time at her vacation house near Lucas’ own home in Seoul.
the boys!
RYAN DOYLE
b. February 6, 1992
Ryan is one of Lucas’ best friends. Originally mortal enemies in elementary school, they eventually became close after both discovering their deep, shared love for Pokémon. Ryan is cocky, affectionate, cynical, intense, and bold.
MAX COLLINS
b. November 21, 1991
Max and Lucas met in kindergarten and became instant friends. They later met Ryan when he moved to town from Montana, and became the OGs of the friend group. He is engaged to high school sweetheart, Meadow Morris. Max is laid-back, rational, light-hearted, and good-natured.
ABDUL ROYCHADHURI
b. September 4, 1991
Abdul moved from Sri Lanka to the Hills in the sixth grade. After being bullied for a semester, he eventually ran into Lucas on the bus, where they became fast friends, and Abdul was instantly integrated into the friend group and officially declared their protected buddy. Abdul is quick-witted, humorous, mellow, and considerate.
ALEX FINLAY
b. June 1, 1992
Alex threw a sandwich at Ryan’s head in the seventh grade and got into a fistfight with him-- and won, which earned the respect of the whole squad. He eventually joined the Mathletes, much to everyone’s shock-- turned out he just had a big fat crush on Hayley Bradburn, who he married in June 2021. Alex is edgy, eager, lively, entertaining, and competitive.
MATEO SANCHEZ
b. January 20, 1992
Mateo moved to Beverly Hills from Hawaii with his grandmother in the third grade, and became fast friends with Ryan. He introduced Ryan and Lucas to Pokémon, which sparked their lifelong friendship and ended their brief rivalry. Mateo is nerdy, friendly, likable, optimistic, and easygoing.
MILES “BICEPS MILES” MACKY
b. July 11, 1991
Miles is a bit accident-prone, but fortunately loves to laugh it off. He had an innocent crush on Ava Lazanski throughout high school. He met the crew in sixth grade after being in the same gym class as Lucas, Max, and Mateo, the three of whom decided to befriend him after he tore his biceps trying to bench press far too much on the first day of school. He was immediately dubbed Biceps Miles. Biceps Miles is suave, confident, forgetful, zestful, and plucky.
the ladies!
SOPHIE CORAM-CONNELL
b. April 6, 1992
Sophie Coram-Connell was a cheerleader at Beverly Hills High School who had a crush on Lucas, and all but staked her claim on him. After discovering that Lucas was actually dating Zoey, she bullied Zoey out of the school. She also bullied Hayley Bradburn and most other girls who were interested in him. Sophie is arrogant, manipulative, cunning, vain, and feisty.
HAYLEY FINLAY
b. January 3, 1992
Hayley Finlay (nee Bradburn) asked out Lucas at the beginning of junior year, but was ultimately rejected as at the time, Lucas had a crush on Zoey Kim. She was on the cheer squad, Mathletes, choir, dance team, and student council, and eventually began dating Alex Finlay second semester, effectively cementing her as “one of the bros.” They were engaged in 2019 and married in June 2021. Hayley is well-rounded, fair, compassionate, ambitious, and content.
MISUN “ZOEY” KIM
b. May 9, 1992
Zoey Kim was the Korean exchange student during Lucas’ junior year, and Lucas was almost immediately smitten by her. She was a singer and quite close to Hayley. When Zoey started dating Lucas, they remained friends, and Hayley helped her through the eventual breakup and stood up for her against Sophie’s bullying. Zoey eventually left early, but forgave Lucas and does keep in touch with the crew. She recently had dinner with Lucas, Mia, and Mateo to catch up. Zoey is gentle, thoughtful, loving, encouraging, sensible, and self-respecting.

when: some time in 2017 who: mt. lazanski with: @strawberrymllktea where: prism dorms
Dude. It was literally such a good day. Who the hell pulls this kind of shit on a day like this? It was pretty cool or whatever, getting to hang out with Saeun as always and then hitting the gym. That protein shake’s got Zanski on some shit, and he’s on top of the world.
Or at least, he was.
See, Lucas is a good dude. His bros come first. It’s why they’ve got a weekly call session. Sure, maybe sometimes he can’t make it, and maybe it drives some of his managers up the wall when he retreats into some dark back-alley to see what the hell is up with Mateo, but again... bros before... whatever. Bros first, is his point.
So when tonight, Biceps Miles calls halfway to tears, Zanks chucks that weight back onto the squat rack and practically books it to the airport. If Saeun hadn’t sent him a text asking if they were still on for ramen tomorrow, he would’ve actually been on the next plane back to Beverly Hills. (Heh. Bros before everything but Saeun, then, probably. Ryan would make SO much fun of him for that one.)
See, it takes a lot to make Biceps cry. Zanks has known him since middle school and he didn’t even cry when that lifting accident totally effed up both his biceps. Didn’t cry when he got hit by that bus (dude, he’s so lucky the biceps thing happened first or else he’d be Bus Miles). Didn’t cry when he got plastered and literally fell off a third-floor balcony at Valerie Benson’s seventeenth birthday bash (Balcony Miles). So this... must’ve been bad.
And bad it is. Holy shit.
It’s well-written, it really is. But it’s so goddamn traumatizing that not even Ryan could tease them about it. In fact, Ryan turned totally gray and just deadass left the call. Lucas wishes he could leave this whole universe. Astral project for, like, a whole year or something, until this whole situation is clean. Because seriously... Lucas Lazanski x Biceps Miles?
He’s well-aware of all the shit that goes down between Minho and Xion in these tags. But... why the hell is this thing so well-written?! Seventy-thousand words?!
He’s in the fetal position by the time he hears footsteps, phone in hand, rocking himself back and forth. He doesn’t even bother looking up to see who it is.
“Dude. Go away. I need to focus on just surviving right now.”

when: the night of sunny’s elimination :( who: unfriendly neighborhood spiderman (daehyun) with: @byeoljalii where: dough-re-mi bakery, near starscape hq
Ahhh, heaven. It’s rare to see Daehyun so lighthearted-- so childish, so sweet-- except for when he’s here. Dough-Re-Mi. The friendly jingle of the door greets him. He’s proud to say that this is the only place in pretty much all of Seoul that IdolWatch doesn’t even know an idol frequents. There’s nothing like the sweet smell of doughnuts, or a nice white sheet cake, or-- oh, oh!! Over there, do his eyes deceive him?! Is that... dare he say it... a brand new flavor?!
He’s no dancer for nothing. A hop, skip, and a jump away, he’s practically humming his own theme song as he plays hopscotch along the checker-tiled floors toward his destination, childish grin plastered across his face. Yup. Heaven, alright.
If this is Heaven, then Geum Remi is the Lord. No one, and he means no one, knows how to bake a cake like Remi. He’s already got her offering for today: a delicious cabbage stew, complete with extra shrimp and extra meat. He always makes a couple extra servings for her grandkids, too, and then some. It’s neatly tied up in a plastic bag today, and he knows that tomorrow, when he’s back, she’ll give him back the Tupperware and he’ll give her a different meal in exchange for that delicious... mouthwatering...
“New cake today, Daehyun-ah,” Remi greets with that warmth that always brings out the same in him. “Green tea flavored.”
“You had me at new cake,” he responds with a glowing smile-- one that few people get to see. He passes over his bag with stew and rice, and she passes over a slice on a dingy little plate. He’s already digging in before she’s finished headed to the back with a chuckle to refrigerate his meal-- which is, without a doubt, delicious. Just like this cake.
By the time he’s helped himself to a second serving, standing at the counter (he’ll take out some more later), he’s eating with such gusto that he doesn’t notice when another figure comes up right next to him. Just like that, his good mood evaporates as his elbow smacks down on top of the figure’s head. Nobody. And he means. Nobody. (Except Remi.) Gets to see Park Daehyun in this good a mood. He gives the figure a critical onceover before deciding that they don’t seem to be anybody of consequence. No cameras, no video evidence.
“This bakery is usually empty at this hour. Who do you think you are, coming into my happy place like this? Are you stalking me? You want an autograph from the great Park Daehyun? Pathetic. You should be ashamed of yourself, stalking me like this.”

when: cherrysoda!’s first night in the dorms who: beck’s muses uwu with: @byeoljalii and @strawberrymllktea where: cherrysoda! dorms
When it comes to a party, Aera knows how to throw a good one. And if there’s any event that requires a celebration, it’s obviously their first official night as a group! Or, like, whatever, since everyone else is supposed to arrive soon... including, maybe, Eunji... seriously, as great as it was to have the opportunity to see Seonhwa and Kaori again, what was the point if Eunji was gonna be there?
But whatever-- she’s not Jeon Aera for nothing! So far, it’s just her and the five other final contestants at the dorms, with some of the girls relaxing in their rooms and others milling about. With the others set to arrive a little after seven, she’s feeling pretty restless herself... she does, after all, want to know more than maybe anyone who their last three groupmates were set to be.
It’s this impatience that has her pacing the living room, slumping upside-down against the back of the couch, sprawling out on the coffee table. This wait should be, like, criminal.
“yyyyyaaaaHHHHH...!!” She calls into the empty living room. “Come hang out with me before the filming, I’m bored!”

The quickest way to Daehyun’s heart is through his stomach— specifically, through sweets. There’s hardly a soul alive knows about Daehyun’s love for anything sugar (somehow, it’s the only thing he truly loves more than himself). He refuses to let this become public; he’s even gone to the length of modifying his mattress so it has a special pocket where he can hide bags of bulk candy that he buys by the pound at corner stores. He’s always guaranteed to have a couple caramels or milk chocolates in his pocket to sneak when nobody is looking, and many nights, he can be found at a bakery that creates his favorite cakes and pastries where he’ll have almost a full meal on desserts alone. Ironically, the baker there is one of the few people Daehyun loves, respects, and considers a true friend, even if it’s only for the sheer quality of the cakes she makes.
For those who may not be so lucky to be privy to Daehyun’s true love, a more well-known fact about him is that he is an excellent cook as well and always appreciates a good, well-made meal. He is extremely proficient in many international dishes and genuinely enjoys making them to keep himself well-fed; cooking for one tends to leave leftovers, however, so those leftovers typically go to his baker when he heads there for dessert. A few select individuals who’ve had the privilege of trying Daehyun’s cooking have described it as good enough to make a person’s eyes water, and he holds himself to nearly an even higher standard cooking than he does with his own music.

when: pop!stars week 5, sunday evening who: lee hyungmin with: cho dahye / @byeoljalii where: jeon hamin and jiae park
Even though the grass only goes so far, Jeon Hamin and Jiae Park looks as if it goes on forever. The landscapers that Dahye had hired truly did an incredible job, Hyungmin thinks, to make a place that seems so intimate and yet so magical.
It’s one of his guilty pleasures to come here, to walk the short amount of time it takes from the headquarters to here. He’s had quite a few lunches here by himself, sitting and humming, planning and thinking, walking and sighing in the shade of the wisterias.
Tonight, that’s not his plan. No-- tonight, he’s invited one of his oldest friends to meet him by the rowboats, and when he spots her a short walk away, he smiles to himself. He doesn’t have many friends. It only makes him cherish the ones he does have that much more.
“Dahye,” he calls with a polite bow. He’s never broken out of the formality habit. “I was hoping we could rent a rowboat together and catch up. I brought seafood pancakes. I made them myself.”

Yong-sun could spot her from a mile away-- the way she held her posture, the aura that emanated around her. Walking down the street he’d be able to recognize her, even if she held cloth over her face, because there just didn’t seem to be anyone else who strode so surely and confidently. All things he’d never noticed before-- at least, not until it was simply too late, and he’d lost her.
But if there’s one thing he wasn’t, it was a quitter. A soft grin spread across his face when he saw her-- it typically did. He was no stalker or anything, honest, he didn’t know she’d be here tonight-- he genuinely wanted to come back and reminisce, grab a bite or two and sit in silence to look over his notes. Sometimes it was too stifling to sit still in the office for so long.
But like she were the sun and he were a planet, he was caught in her orbit the minute he entered the room, his eye drawn to her in the booth they used to frequent. It’s a little bit of the old Yong-sun that slips in when he slides into the seat opposite her, all charm and cheesy smiles.
“If it rained, would you let me walk you home?” He can’t help but flirt. “If it didn’t, could I still walk you home anyway?”
He nods in polite thanks to the old woman as she sets the stew before him. Wordlessly, he removes the meat from the broth, placing it into Dahye’s own bowl.
Who: Cho Dahye When: Pop!Stars Survival week 5, Tuesday With: @skyfields | Han Yongsun Where: Gonbap restaurant, Sangsu-dong, Mapo-gu
The small restaurant was quiet, and Dada couldn’t help but smile when a Cat.Eye’s song started playing on the radio. It filled her chest with pride as the soft tofu stew she was eating filled her stomach with warmth. Coming here to relax after a busy day at Starscape was her usual, good food and a good beer, or some green grape soju, it was just like the old times when she was just Dada and not the CEO of one of the biggest entertainment agencies in the country.
She reached for the pickled vegetables, completely focused on her food that she didn’t notice someone approached her table until he took the seat across from her. Dahye stared at Yongsun for a moment before returning her attention to her steamed rice portion. It didn’t surprise her to see him there, for it was her favorite place to relax and she had brought him here before, many times, when they used to be on better terms.
It was the only place where Idolwatch wouldn’t look for them, giving them some privacy they very well deserved. “I read there’ll be light rain tonight, a good stew will be good for you.” Without more words, she served him a glass of soju and looked at the old woman who ran the place. “Auntie! Another stew and more rice here, please.”

Life’s been pretty good here in Thailand since returning. It’s strange, the way it was so easy to return to normal despite the time that almost felt like a fantasy-- time as a trainee, getting to know all the girls in the trainee pool, getting to dance her heart out, experiencing the sights and sounds of Seoul. How odd it was to return home and see her face on the screen-- it was like it wasn’t even her.
She wishes she could say that she kept up with Pop!Star Survival even after she returned home, but she’s never been a liar. It’s not that she doesn’t care; she does. But really her priorities have been little more than nursing her father back to health and earning enough money for the two of them. But what she has heard is that Eunji girl’s been a thorn in her side; Aera called her once some time ago (and also appeared to be convinced that her name was Choi Chaemin, so there’s that) and they had a pleasant catch-up, but the other girl had an incredibly high energy and Chaem could barely get a word in edge-wise. Still, many of her calls with the other survival show girls were along the same vein: it appears that the only other dancer, one of the trainees Chaem never got the chance to know, was quite the negative character.
“It’s good to see you too, Sohee,” Chaem says, meaning every word of it. “How are things? A new episode must have aired today, right?”
Who: Jung Sohee When: Pop!Stars Survival week 4, Friday With: @skyfields | Chaem Choi Pravat Where: Pop!Stars dorms | Starscape HQ, Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu
It had been an intense night. No one had wanted Kaori to leave the show, and it wasn’t like they would never see her again, but Sohee would have liked to be in the same group with her. Now it was getting closer and the possibility of Eunji winning was just too annoying to even consider it, but Sohee knew better than lying to herself. She was a bitch, but a talented one, and they couldn’t deny either.
Sohee was too tired to think, she didn’t even want to go out to her some dinner. She doubted anyone was hungry anyway. In need of comfort, and not really ready to face anyone else here, knowing they all felt just as down, she got in bed after a shower and hoped her roommate didn’t return soon. Silence was nice right now, and it would give her enough privacy to talk to someone she trusted.
Scrolling down, she finally found the person she was looking for and called, smiling at her image on the screen. It didn’t last long before her call was answered and Sohee grinned at her friend. “Chaem-ssi! You’re a sight for sore eyes.” It was unfair how all those amazing girls had been eliminated and they still had to deal with those uglies that didn’t deserve a place in it.

Both Starscape and Worldwide had their ups-and-downs, location-wise. It was nice because they were both so close to each other; since getting a FitBit, Hyungmin now tended to gaze approvingly at his steps for the day while walking from one building to the next for different lessons. Worldwide was near Ajumeoni’s, while Starscape was near Three Kang Sisters. The shopping was pretty good too; once, the soles wore through on his five-year-old tennis shoes, and it wasn’t difficult at all to duck into a store and buy another pair. There was even a trash can nearby for him to chuck the old pair into. Hell, if the prices weren’t so high in this district-- an unfortunate side effect of people who wanted to go idol sightseeing-- he’d consider renting an apartment here instead of paying for a monthly bus pass.
What he liked about Starscape, though, was the coffee bar right at reception. Arriving for the nightly Pop!Stars training typically drained him quite a bit, so a hot black Americano was strictly necessary. He settled into a chair; at least an hour before he had to train the girls. He twirled a pen between his fingers and looked over his notes.
Aera: throat tension. Areum: tongue tension. Sunny: mixed voice. Yumi: high note strain... and, because he felt a pair of eyes on him, he stopped and glanced up, when the voice chirped.
In his profession, idols truly were just other people. It wasn’t easy at all to render him starstruck. Not even a Luxuri girl could change that-- whereas another person might’ve swooned at the thought of having coffee with the Ahn Gaeul, the more awkward, professional side of him would’ve preferred to be alone. But he wasn’t raised in a barn-- he knew how to be a gentleman.
“Please,” he agreed, standing to bow his head and pull out the chair opposite him. “I can take your bag too.” Cue Hyungmin not knowing what to say after that... for someone who worked with people so often, he wasn’t too great with people.
Who: Ahn Gaeul When: Pop!Stars Survival week 4, Wednesday With: @skyfields | Lee Hyungmin Where: Starscape HQ, Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu
It was one of those days when Gaeul questioned why she had accepted to become a trainer for this show. Perhaps because the management had told her it would be a good look for her and Luxuri, her being a trainer in the show that was supposed to form the Nation’s next top girl group, or because they wanted the attention to be back on their careers than on Holiday’s wedding. Whatever it was, there were times it wasn’t easy.
Gaeul could relate somehow. While she hadn’t been part of a show like this, she had, well was part of the once Nation’s girl group, and had the public criticizing everything she did or said, feeling how everyone had something to say about the way she looked. It had never been easy, and she couldn’t imagine how difficult this was for all those girls. Especially when they knew one of them would be eliminated next.
With a sigh, she brought the cup of coffee to her lips and allowed the sweetness to comfort her for a moment. A task was being prepared and the girls were supposed to wait until everything was ready, which meant they got a small break before that. A smile tugged at the corner of her lips when she saw a fellow trainer, and although they had never really talked much, Gaeul felt a lot less lonely. “Hi!” She greeted cheerfully with a small bow. “Do you mind if I join you?”

On nights like this, Holiday doesn’t really feel like Holiday, the idol who caused hell for so many trainees and staff members at Worldwide. Then again, she doesn’t really feel like Jiae, either, the bratty little girl who wanted nothing more than to be famous. It’s nice-- when she overlooks the city like this, she could be little more than a small, twinkling light in front of a bar or bookshop, drowning into obscurity among the rest of the city glow.
It was a long day in the garden today, on the little terrace where she one day decided to make a near-replica of the one at her beach home in Busan. She spent it mostly by herself, deciding on a dinner menu and picking the veggies needed. She didn’t have everything yet-- apples weren’t yet in season, and the tree wasn’t lush enough to bear fruit this year anyway, so she walked to the store to buy some for dessert, relishing in the summer sun. Then it was mostly tending to the garden and deciding that it might soon be time to take a day to put the greenhouse nets back up, and by that time it was time to serve dinner.
How nice it was, that she was now given the chance to be alone by choice, never without-- because Hamin always came home to her.
She took a moment to admire the pretty picture her life was-- this was one moment she did not feel guilty to wield her vanity, sighing against the railing and thanking the powers that be for all the wonderful, beautiful things. The love was magnified when two strong arms wound themselves around her waist, and she melted against her husband with a soft purr.
“I’m not sure Aera will be ready for lunch with me anytime soon,” she responded with a chuckle, craning her head to place a soft kiss beneath his jaw. “I was looking back at the wedding photos today. I’ve never seen someone look so irritated. I swear, she would’ve worn white just to steal my thunder-- if she didn’t already know that I don’t mind my thunder being stolen.”
Who: Jeon Hamin When: Pop!Stars Survival week 5, Sunday With: @skyfields | Jeon Jiae Where: Jiae & Hamin’s apartment
A gentle ballad filled the space in the apartment as Hamin walked out of the kitchen after finished placing everything into the dishwasher. Dinner had been eaten as they both talked about their days, enjoying each other’s company as they were still blissfully happy in that honeymoon stage that Hamin wished never ended. He admitted that he had been busy lately, with Hero working on their next album and him filming his upcoming drama. But he always tried his best to go back home early to have dinner with his wife.
He picked her glass and made his way to the terrace, smiling at the sight; his gorgeous wife, the city lights giving her such glow she looked ethereal, and his heart was so full he couldn’t breathe for a moment. This was exactly how true and pure happiness felt like, and he never thought he would be as blessed one day, and yet here he was.
Taking a sip of wine, he placed the glass on the outside table and made his way over to his wife, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind as he rested his chin on her shoulder. The Han River looked almost magical like this, dark but filled with colorful lights. “I was thinking we could take my sisters out for lunch one of these days, if they get free time.” It absolutely broke his heart that Aera hadn’t quite accepted his marriage yet, but Hamin knew it was just a matter of time.

strawberrymllktea:
nana crouched down in front of the row of gimbap rolls in front of her, bright little markers advertising 2+1 sales slightly blocking her view of the dinner options. she reached in to grab a roll with bright red wrapping, the english word HOT! with multiple exclamation points scattered across the packaging. food advertising in convenience stores was nothing if not honest and in your face. she considered whether it was worth getting. the diet they had been put on since the line up for pop!star had been finalized wasn’t any more or less restrictive than the one they had before, but cracking down on it and any perceived breaking of it seemed to increase as the show went on. she sighed.
maybe she should just get a salad.
putting the gimbap roll back, she waved a quiet good bye to the roll before pushing herself up and off the floor. stretching her legs, she paused when she heard a familiar voice. she turned, coming face to face with lee hyungmin.
the trainer was something of a legend among trainees. the rumor mill in the starscape entertainment building was never slow, and it always sped up whenever a new trainee was sent to work with hyungmin. he was the perceived gatekeeper, the trainer who every successfully debuted idol worked with at least once. nana remembered one of the older trainees telling her that all the members of cat.eye had worked with him only a year before their debut. and here they were. debuted and one of the top girl groups in south korea.
perhaps that is part of the reason why he’s a regular trainer for pop!star. he was certainly talented, even the most inexperienced trainee could realize that. he was harsh and had a habit of picking and choosing favorites each week, but he didn’t seem as untouchable as he did when nana had seen him pass by in the hallways before. she bowed, straightening back up before realizing that might have been a strange thing to do in a convenience store. blushing, she pulled at her sleeves.
“oh, um, yes? i think so. i just wanted a break from the building after yesterday.”
Hyungmin blinks owlishly at her explanation and shuffles awkwardly on both feet. That’s pretty reasonable, he supposes. Also he’s not on the clock, so it would be a waste of both their time if he were to tell her to go back to the dorm and do... what? Learn to dance? Dajeong had left for Jeju this morning to tan on the beach. Learn to live like an idol? Gaeul was doing whatever it was that decade-debuted idols did. Learn to sing? Well, Hyungmin was right here, trying to figure out what to eat for dinner.
He’s not really known for being a kind and gentle mentor; that’s more up Taeil’s alley, and currently Hyungmin’s sensing that there might be some Feelings Talk upcoming if he asks what’s wrong.
Besides, it’s obvious what’s wrong: they eliminated Kaori.
At the end of the day, Hyungmin’s coached so many idols their faces sorta blur together. The only ones who really stand out are the ones with better vocal promise, like Sunny or Minho. Even then he doesn’t really make it a point to be friends with idols or whatever, but somehow people tend to spill to him anyway. He’s inconsequential. He doesn’t care enough to repeat anyone’s secrets and that’s obvious, so secrets get fed to him. Besides, it’s only ever really interesting when it’s a senior idol. (Victoria, for example, could tell him anyone’s dirtiest secret if he bothered to ask. But he doesn’t ask-- they have a very nice understanding on a professional level. Victoria’s unruffled like that. Hyungmin simply doesn’t care.)
All this still doesn’t mean that Hyungmin’s totally unempathetic. These girls were friends with each other, aside from Eunji whom he had long since deemed untrainable because she thought she was too good for his training or something stupid like that. He’s barely even spoken to her since the first week. The girls who are close-- he more or less understands why they’d be upset that Eunji stayed but Kaori didn’t. So, after some internal debate, Hyungmin decides to channel his inner Taeil and offers a noise that could be construed as compassionate (which was his intention). He pats a big, awkward hand on her shoulder.
“It’s going to turn out okay. I have the feeling that they’re going to choose a good lineup.” He pauses for a moment, then after some internal debate, says, “Do you need to talk about it?”
#lhmthreads#sf2017#sienana#hyungmin trying to channel his inner taeil and unfortunately failing is what i'm here for

Saeun’s got some damn good shit to say at least 99.9999% of the time. Lucas likes that about her. He especially likes that about her when they decide to watch Pop!Star together.
Now, get this: Lucas isn’t really a reality show kinda guy. Deadass? He grew up in the Hills; there was a reality show filming there pretty much every other week. Hell, his sister’s friend’s mom was on Real Housewives. Ryan’s obsessed with that stuff and got Biceps Miles into it too, and usually between the two of them managed to drag the group along to viewing parties or whatever, where Lucas solemnly swore to never, ever become obsessed with a show. Well, joke’s on him, ‘cause Pop!Star’s pretty much become his biggest time investment after it came on the dorm TV one day. Don’t tell Junseo this: but he’s a hardcore Areum stan. Sure, he might say that he votes for Sunny each week, but really he taps on the little checkbox next to “Jeon Areum” every Thursday night at 9PM.
(It’s pointless to vote for Areum, Junseo always says, ‘cause Areum’s always in the top three anyway so it’s like running up the score. Whatever.)
‘Cause Saeun’s always got good shit to say, and Lucas just sorta rolls with the punches, it’s real great to watch the show with her ‘cause it gives him a brand new perspective on whatever goings-on occur that week. Still, even Lucas can form his own opinion on Go Eunji, and that opinion is this: sure, he’s a hardcore feminist, but that Eunji girl reeeeeaaaaalllyyyy makes him question his stance against using the b-word.
“Can’t believe she’s still there,” he says through a mouthful of extra-spicy tteokbokki. “Did Hyungmin sunbae-nim ever crack the whip on you predebut for attitude? He did that to me dozens of times. Is he asleep or something? You think they’re gonna nix Sunny this episode? Are you gonna eat that?” He doesn’t even wait for an answer before sliding Saeun’s soup bowl closer between them. “Honestly I’m good as long as Areum ends up on the team.”
Who: Min Saeun When: Pop!Stars Survival week 4, Friday With: @skyfields | Lucas Lazanski Where: Ajumeoni’s Convenience Store
Saeun sighed when the commercials break started, bringing a honey butter chip to her mouth. It was so ridiculous the way they treated Sunny, as if having good looks wasn’t an important part of being an idol. It probably sounded vain, but it didn’t make it wrong. Saeun worked with gorgeous people every day, and they were incredibly talented. She was so annoyed that she had even forgotten about her ramyeon, because that meant to take her eye off the TV and she couldn’t do that.
“Can you believe this? They act like she has no talent, but Sunny is probably one of the best singers they have right now. And why is that Eunji girl still in the show? If I were a trainer there, I would tell her to work on her attitude.” That girl was horrible, and Saeun couldn’t even how it would be to be in a group with someone like Eunji.
With a pout, she set her bag of chips aside and ate some ramyeon, it wasn’t as hot anymore and easier to eat. “We’re getting waffle mate on our way out. Something tells me we will need something sweet after tonight’s elimination.”
