fury and expression

Dr. Bashir’s puzzled expression here is doubly funny because aside from all the subterfuge, he just got handed a (vaguely) historically accurate 20th century suit jacket. Like it’s the 24th century equivalent of someone saying “here! Quick! Try on this suit!” and casually handing you this:

My pet vole fic is now ready! Time to unleash this insanity upon the world.
Dr Bashir adopts a vole which turns up in the infirmary. Admiral McSlime, a food snatching menace, quickly becomes a beloved fixture of the station. He can be quite helpful, too...

#either that or with the safeties off they’ll drown in red kool-aid #that probably really upsets the Tholian game reviewers though
The Aquan game reviewers, on the other hand…
Holoprogrammer (exhausted): you want me to holo-project fluids inside the players’ lungs? Every time their mouths move I have to recalculate all the force fields! I already need a special license for the projectile weapon behavior, how do I explain all these libraries I’m importing for realistic drowning mechanics???
Forum of Aquan gamers who are really into James Bond for some reason: game devs are so lazy these days smh
The fact that Garak and Bashir are actually worried about the lava in OMB implies the existence of some grumpy tholian game reviewer who plays human holodeck games exclusively to complain about the lack of realistic lava.
#actually who am I kidding any holodeck program offered in Quark’s is *definitely* not licensed lmao#star trek shitposting#star trek#ds9#deep space nine#klonpeagposting

#star trek shitposting#star trek#ds9#deep space nine#ds9 our man bashir#tholian#tholians ALSO can’t survive lava temps#but maybe they can get close enough to get exciting injuries#instead of being full dead#it’s got to be so much extra work to add support for safeties-off lava#because you already have to simulate the heat for the safeties-on version#so it’s not really saving you any effort there#and now you have to worry about melting the ENTIRE GODDAMN HOLODECK#klonpeagposting

Changeling that did a little too good of a job copying its target’s brain and now can’t complete its mission. Every time it tries to run the brain to simulate normal behavior it goes “oh my god I got replaced by a changeling!! this version of me will die when the original me returns!!!!!” and curls up in the fetal position.
#star trek shitposting#based on what they did in The Search I assume they can’t do a direct brain copy#but imagine the horror potential of a faithfully copied brain gradually realizing it’s inside a changeling#or people prepping for changeling infiltration by doing reality checks to confirm they’re still in their original body#testing their own blood#star trek#ds9#deep space nine#the dominion#unreality

more Ziyal? More Ziyal.
1) Jake/Ziyal is a galaxy brain ship and in a just universe, they would have been a thing. I can see Jake taking her on a cute holosuite date to a baseball game. Alien girls love ancient obscure Earth sports, right?
2) All dressed up in a Bajoran outfit (bought on a shopping trip with Kira) and Cardassian makeup. Her fluffy hair clip is tribble fur– there was that infestation on the station that one time, and certain Promenade merchants and craftspeople… uh… saw a bright side.

You all recall this moment in "Little Green Men." Perhaps it haunts you, even.
But what we don't talk about enough is that Odo turns into a man, yells at Quark for a few minutes, and then is like "ok I'm done talking to you" and turns BACK into a dog. It's really a shame that the budget only lets him transform like once every four episodes bc you know Odo is constantly being like "conversation OVER" and like turning into a bird and flying away.

If I was one of those Star Trek characters who can do % forecasts, I would just be lying about it constantly. One, other humanoids are bad at interpreting percentages, a 75% chance of success is not 100%, but they will treat it as if it is. Two, if I can forecast to that degree of precision surely I can also forecast how my saying the percentage will affect the outcome. Is it logical to prefer being right over getting my ass out alive? No it is not. I estimate an 84.3% chance that Kirk/Bones/Sisko/Garak/whoever will razz me about it later, but at least they’ll be alive to do it.

Jadzia Dax, more alien-looking alien edition! Amphibious Trill: It Just Makes Sense. (Also, I already have a soft spot for salamander people.)
her belly is translucent, like a tadpole’s! You can see Dax curled up in there. Honestly, if you have a character with a symbiotic creature in their body and you don’t make it at least a little weird, what are you even doing?

I love when Star Trek characters collapse…like…they always choose the strangest position, or they’ll be perfectly straight, or they just immediately flop to the floor in any position and I’ll be here for it. Give me MORE and get them on the FLOOR
