Using some loopholes from the first season such as the mongoose and whatnot is a little unfair tbh, the Pokémon franchise was very young and barely knew what it was gonna be in the future. It wasn't sure it was gonna be either a hybrid earth or an entirely ficticious world altogether. Pokémon has tried its best to hide away these logic breaks from its past by making everything more fantasy based and friendly in a child's pov.
